"Finale, 5/12"
Well? What did everyone think of the winner?

First I have to say.... 3 hours was way tooooooo long. That was painful.

On Jerry, he looked sick to me and he acted sick like he was out of it.

Mike! Wow he looked fantastic!

I was a little disappointed in the kicked off players. Some of them didn't seem to keep up the good work they started.

Dan! His face looked totally different. I really hope he continues on with his weight loss. Great kid.

3 hours was ridiculous. I thought the top 3 all looked great, but I knew Helen was the winner as soon as I saw her. My daughters couldn't get over how good looking Mike is! I kind of felt sorry for Tara, because she was weighed in and then *poof* it was like she never existed.

Quite a few of the players didn't do much at home. How about the kid who lost 55 pounds total? Are you kidding? Talk about blowing an opportunity...

David, yeah. I sure hope he doesn't drag Dan back down with him.

Which sis is the one with 5 kids? Don't like her. She needs to quit making excuses!

3 hours was way too long. I have no clue what they were doing with those two girls because I didn't watch it.

Tara needs to work on herself mentally now. She really does. I noticed the same thing, but it didn't really bother me.

I think that was Dave that lost the 55 pounds. But to be honest, I was surprised he lost that much. Perhaps he needs a major medical crisis wake-up call. Perhaps he will never care. I don't know. I was happy for Dan, and I hope he continues.

I laughed about Nicole because I thought her hair alone weighed about 5 pounds. That was a lot of hair. And speaking of hair, WTF did Kristin do to hers? The brown they gave her at the makeover was so rich and so beautiful. She totally blew it. It was like she was trying to be Pink or something. Cathy looked great. And I'm happy Laura kept her color from the makeover.

LOL - I actually really liked Kristen's hair last night. I think she is just busting out all over, with her new, much smaller figure and having a blast.

Dave only lost 43 pounds, not 55. It was Aubrey with the 5 kids who lost 55.

Dave is going to be obese for life if somebody doesn't smack him in the head. If he couldn't lose more than 43 pounds from his 393 pound self in 6 months, with the Biggest Loser motivational forces behind him, how is he ever going to lose the other 150+ pounds he needs to lose? If he stayed on the ranch he probably would have lost much more, but his internal discipline and desire was so lacking that he'd gain back most of it after the finale anyway.

3. "RE: Finale, 5/12"
I wrote Helen off and thought there was no way she could win. I was completely shocked. But happy. If Mike couldn't win, she was my second choice. I don't know, it was almost kind of how people felt about Margie and Luke not winning TAR - that's how I felt about Tara. I liked her so much in the beginning but, as the game went on, I really just wanted her to either fall below once or just go home.

Having said that, I thought Tara looked great, and I'm glad she stuck with it, pulled through, and I do wish her well.

Mike looked so darn good. My goodness. He reminds me a little bit of my trainer - looks, mannerisms, etc. I think that's why I've liked him so much.

I don't think Helen should stay at that weight. She would be fine putting on about 10 pounds.

Three hours was way too much. I pretty much skipped through everything except the weigh-ins, but I saved it so I could watch it later.

I think Jerry looked really good all dressed up. Not so much in his gym clothes, but I don't know what he could really do naturally and, at his age, I don't think he should do much surgically. I think he was genuinely suprised to win.

I thought Ron looked really good all dressed up as well.

"I don't think Helen should stay at that weight. She would be fine putting on about 10 pounds."

I agree. I think they need to rethink their criteria for determining the winner, because the contestants are becoming so proficient at losing weight that they're close to creating health risks for themselves by losing weight too fast or getting too thin.

I think it would be better if they set a target weight for each contestant based on their height and gender, and use that to calculate how overweight they are at the start of the season. Then instead of calculating your percentage of bodyweight lost, they calculate the percentage of "overweight" that you've lost. So if you're 250 and your target weight is 150, you're 100 pounds overweight; if you drop 8 pounds from that 250, you've lost 8% of your "overweight".

Then for the season finale, if you go below your target weight you don't get any extra benefit; you're simply zero overweight. If more than one person is zero overweight, have them split the prize, or come up with some other tiebreaker like who went below the yellow line the fewest times, or who lost the most pounds.

Then for the weekly episodes, I don't like the idea of selecting the yellow line people based on their one-week weight loss. That is because when somebody has one big week like 10 pounds, their body fights back and maybe the next week is 1 or 0, so they essentially get penalized for having a big week. If the producers instead used the average of the past 2 weeks, having one big week wouldn't put you in so much jeopardy for the following week.

7. "RE: Finale, 5/12"
Parts of the 3 hours were rather boring. I can't believe we saw a review of every one of them down to the time they left the ranch!
Oh well, I guess each one deserves his or her time in the spot light. They all (well almost all) worked hard.

Jerry & Estelle. Wow, just wow. I bet not one of the eliminated players ever gave a thought to him being their competition for the consolation prize.
Sis & I were talking and, compared to her DH who is 62, Jerry looks 75 or older. Guess that's what happens to the skin after having been stretched for too long .

Aubrey. I disliked her from the time she returned to the ranch and immediately started putting Joelle down - like she was doing so much better - or trying so much harder herself. I was curious as to what her weight was at the end and what it was when she left the ranch (haven't taken time to look it up).

Shannon. Who allowed that girl to wear that dress with that wide sash across the middle????? Horizontal stripes do not work girl! Watching her say over & over that she did it for her mother? Reinforced that I think she really wanted to be there & stay, but she was used to giving in to what Helen wanted.
I hope Helen uses some of her winnings to hire a personal trainer for Shannon so she can achieve her dreams too.

Daniel has the right attitude. He knows he still has a way to go - but you have to do it one step at a time.

Kristin. With the hair change, she was not recognizable to me! I hope she & Cathy continue and get down to their goals.

Joelle & Carla? I thought they were both a little over the top in acting like they were the hottest things on the stage but I guess from what they were when they started, they did feel and look good.

MIKE: When he first came out, I thought he was 'sucking in' his gut a bit. He had a waist like a girl! LOL
I wondered if he & Ron would regret getting Mike into the final 3. He would have won the $100,000 if he had played for the at-home prize.

TARA: I would like to see Tara on Next Top Model or Make me a Supermodel.

HELEN: She fought for it and won it. But I agree with someone up there ^. She needs to gain about 10 lbs back on now.
This morning on news they reported she said they were going on vacation to....... Vegas. Okay, not smart. You have $250,000 in hand and you go to Vegas? but gambling is something that I'll never understand so...

Had I bothered to look and see that it was going to be 3 hours I would ahve watched something else and set this for the DVR. Way too long.
Mike looked so fantastic. I was very pleased with him.
As much as I disliked Tara I would have been okay with her winning.
Jerry definitely lost tons of weight but I think it made him look older. My Dad is 70 and looks younger than he does. I'm worried about him.
Didn't really care that Helen won. I was rooting for Mike the entire time.
Otherwise the only thing left for me to say about this finale is that it was just way too long.

Way too long, I agree!! We didn't get to see Helen or Tara until 10:30.
I wish Tara would have chosen to weigh in first so she could have stood up there longer. The show is so long and then just ends, they should save more time at the end for the celebration. You never saw Tara again. They should have mentioned just how close all three finalists came. A four and a five pound difference between them.
Helen is way too thin now and should put back on at least 10 lbs. Jerry also look very sickly and very old. My husband is 64 and rocks it, Jerry poor guy looked 75 at least.
Anyway was kinda surprised at how many contestants did either very well, amazing in fact and then there were quite a few who almost looked the same.
I lost 30 lbs. during the show so I am happy. I love this show and how it inspires!!
Another win for the Jillian team, c'mon Bob , good luck next season.

I agree with most, 3 hours... thank goodness for DVR! I started watching the show about 45 minutes after it started and ended up catching up to watch it live though.

I was extremely impressed with the final 3. Everyone else except Jerry and Kristin was dissappointing. I expected Blaine, Dane, Filipe and Sione to have bigger weight lose and wasn't surprised at a few having lost minimal after leaving.

I agree Wayne. Did all the others who will be on next season have to compete in some way?

Also does that tell us that there will NOT be couples next season?

At least TBL is going to assist the one who was not chosen with her efforts to lose also.

Having America vote for the next season's contestant was really dumb. We have no basis to choose one over the other. They should have made them do a challenge, which would have been more interesting to us and more fair to them.

When I looked at the program guide and it said 3 hours, I was "WTF"!

I was expecting a Mike or Tara win but was not surprised when Helen won. No one really viewed her as a threat but she lost weight consistently. Her weight losses were often single digits, which is a lot for her, and so I don't think the other players thought that that was threatening when other people were dropping double digits and now here she is...

I found Helen looked old and agree that she could stand to gain a few pounds to plump up her face a bit. I wonder how tall she is?

Mike is quite good-looking.

If this was another reality competition then Tara probably deserved to win because of all the challenges she won but those rules don't apply here.

Way to go Jerry! I would have never thought him to be a contender for the at-home prize. I thought Nicole, Kristin, Dane or Blaine would take it. And he did it on his own. Yes, he looks really jowely but I think he looks much more energetic and happy... I can see it in his eyes.

I loved Kristen's haircut but was not fussy about the colour. Platinum blond looks okay on... anyone? A high-definition red would have been just as edgy and more suitable to her skin tone.

I hated that whole vote for the next contestant thing. It was quite mean. I felt bad for the girl who did not get picked by America during live tv. Basically, it's about first impressions and the majority of voters just didn't like the looks of you... nice. And then you have to stand there smiling like an idiot... very nice.

Good morning all!

I didn't get to see the show last night until the very last 15 minutes. There was an academic banquet that I had to attend.

I did make it home to see the final 3 weigh in. Mike looked wonderful! WOW he is going to turn some heads at college! I wanted him or Tara to win... but Helen pulled it off.

I agree with those that think Helen needs to gain a little weight back. She looks a lot older now.

Tara looked great. I think that she only lost 4 lbs from the time she left the ranch the last time to the final weigh in. I am not positive, but I thought her last weigh in on campus was 159, her finale weight was 155. I am sorry she didn't win, but she looks healthy!

I hate that I missed all the other contestants. I did see Jerry once and I agree with ^^ he does look 75.

Does anyone know when the next season will start?

Tara looked great. I think that she only lost 4 lbs from the time she left the ranch the last time to the final weigh in. I am not positive, but I thought her last weigh in on campus was 159, her finale weight was 155.

According to the stats here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Biggest_Loser:_Couples_2. Tara's final weight was 139, 155 was her total loss. So she lost 20 lbs off campus.

I agree with the many posts above - way too long. I started watching 1 1/2hrs into the program and caught up to Live TV for the last 10 minutes.

Anyone else notice that the pink team has won the last three seasons?

Jerry surprised me the most of everyone. I thought Filipe would do better at home than he did.

Kristen and Shannon ended up roughly the same weight at the end, but I thought Kristen looked much better. Amazing how much the dress matters!

I hope Ron can keep the weight off this time, where he has not been able to before. Mike looks great. Hopefully they can help Max.

At first, I thought Damien still looked really big. But after looking at his stats, he lost almost 100 lbs while at home. He has done very well.

And, my final thought: I feel really bad for David. Just sad.

I agree with everything you said Breezy. Three hours was totally unnecessary! I skipped through much of the show, especially the recap stuff.

Jerry did look too thin to me, especially his poor face. For some reason, I couldn't take my eyes off his mouth and teeth. He looked starved. And a sleeveless tee shirt was not the best idea. How about short sleeves at least?

I also thought Helen was too skinny.

I loved Kristen's look! She was my favorite most of the season, and she didn't disappoint last night.

I also loved Dan and his attitude. Almost 150 pounds lost so far - I really hope he keeps going. I think he will - he's got the right attitude. Such a sweet kid!

When I saw Dan, I thought:
This is a guy who should not have been voted off. Think what he might have accomplished if he'd stayed longer.

Don't remember who he was up against when he was sent home.
Might go look that up.

It was Orange team vs. Brown team.

David basically quit on Dan during the "reason to keep me/us" stuff, while Ron pleaded for everyone to consider Mike and his age with his whole life ahead of him.

And Orange got sent packing.

I missed about half the show. I was bummed about that since I didn't get to see most of the kicked off people and that was what I really wanted to see.

I thought all of the final three looked good and it was neat to see they were all so close to each other. What was with Tara's mascara, though? All her other makeup looked great but maybe she lost because of the extra weight of the mascara! (just kidding...I don't want to be mean)

My hubby commented that neither Tara nor Helen's hair looked very good, though. I thought Helen had her "normal" weigh-in hair and didn't look like she'd done anything special for dressing up. Or maybe I'm just not fashion concious. Tara's hair looked really good in a couple of her at-home shots. She should have worn it that way.

I too noticed Helen's hair (more so than Tara's).

Right now I am in an intense weight loss program. We are told that if you do not get the proper amount of protein and vitamins in your weight loss program you will lose your hair. It just makes me wonder if that is what happened to Helen. (**By the way, I am down 32 pounds in 7 weeks--WOO HOO!)

Personally, in MHO, I thought that Helen did not look good at all. She was gaunt looking and almost looks malnourished. It almost makes me wonder if she was starving herself to win.

Putting Mike and Tara next to Helen really showed a stark comparison. Mike and Tara looked HEALTHY! Helen did not (nor did Jerry for that matter). Even looking back at past winners, they were thin, but they looked healthy. Plus, is not just because Helen is and older woman. Heck, Ron is older too, but he looked FANTASTIC!

Now that the show is over and Helen has her $250K, hopefully she will change whatever she has been doing before she does irreversible damage.

As far as the 2 potential contestants - that was just wrong! I felt sorry for the poor girl who was not chosen. It almost makes me wonder if they would pair her up with Max for next season?? There has been a lot of focus on him throughout this season. Even last night he had a bit of camera time. At least 4 times they focused on him. HMMMM....Just a thought!

I'm going to comment before reading any replies.

I'm glad I recorded. This show gets dragged out worse than any other.

I'll jump straight to the winners, Jerry and Helen.

First Jerry. Good for him, he seemed very happy, but geeze, did he lose some of his mind along with all those pounds? He seemed very odd to me, although he was gone so quickly, I don't really remember his behavior on the show. I can't say he looked great because hanging skin on bones is not attractive at any age, but especially on an older person. Ick.

Speaking of ick, holy Helen! WTF is she thinking. 114 lbs is not a healthy weight for a woman of her age/height. She has some real mental issues to work on, so I hope she uses her prize money to buy some thearpy and some food. She looked horrible. Sickly, wrinkled and old. I always sensed that something was very "off" with Helen, and now I'm even more convinced.

Mike and Tara looked fantastic, slim, and healthy. I hope they are able to maintain.

Allison Sweeney's dress was a huge distraction. I couldn't take my eyes of her boobs the entire night.

I thought Allison's dress was so pretty - loved that robin's egg blue on her. My thought when I first saw it was, "now that's how you do cleavage with class!"

I loved the color on her too, and I really liked the style of the dress, but it was soooo tight, she was busting out. Literally. She must have had 3 sets of spanx on to get such a smooth middle/rear. She looks great, but I didn't think the sausage casing material made for a very good hosting outfit. It was just too distracting for me.

yup, totally agree on all counts, especially with how hot Allison looked. I kept on saying to my DH last night..gawd, Allison is gorgeous in that dress..look at her..and look at that great cleavage..woo-hoo!

Yes, Helen looks old and bony now. It was really evident when they showed her early tapes of her and Shanon..and they used to look like sisters..and now she looks SOOOO much older. My son really notice both her sagging arms as well as Jerry's wife's sagging arms and asked why that was (elasticity gets lost when you age...which explains Tara's great looking arms (and Nicoles..wow!) But Helen and Estelle's...yikes, might want some sleeves to cover up that sagging skin!

MIke looked totally hot. Wow...who knew he was such a hottie when he lost weight???? Amazing. And I did also feel for bad for the poor girl who worked out for hours and didn't get the vote! Too mean!!

Ah...so glad I had it on my PVR..just zoomed through the whole thing. I cannot even handle the 2 hour show live let a lone a three hour show. Long live the video and/or digital recorder!!!!

Not a whole lot to add...

I also thinked Helen looked unhealthy, even though her BMI is technically normal.

And Mike definitely looks great.

I'm not sure what was up with having them workout backstage. Maybe it's just because it was so short, but it didn't really look like a typical BL workout. Sure, they were sweating, but not nearly at their limits.

I guess they push the finalists to the end to keep people watching, but it seemed like it did them a disservice. Sure, the finalists were in the commercials more, but we barely saw them, while we saw the rest of the contestants for the whole show.

And I have to agree about Kristen's hair - platinum blond always looks fake, and I really like it when hair looks natural (I'm not opposed to color, but it has to be a color that people actually have.)

Mike has stolen my heart throughout this entire season.

He is SO attractive and such a sweetheart. I loved that he gave away his prizes to people who needed them more (ie. Aubrey and the groceries). I find it crazy to see the difference between his and his dad's personalities!

But I really do like him a lot. I wanted him to win, especially after seeing how hard he worked and how determined he was throughout the entire show.

Bob is incredible, too! I loved that he had such a personal connection with his group of contestants. I remember crying when they got switched and he was so upset.

I was also very happy for Jerry and pretty scared for Helen. She needs to gain some weight back - she looks unhealthy.

I wonder if excess skin can be donated to burn victims. Because man, there's a whole lotta square yards of loose skin to go around on this show. Losing weight fast is not a good idea for your skin.

Helen and the former winner (dark haired cute girl, her name is a blank) were helping to hawk health & weight loss goods on HSC or QVC last night. Helen does look too thin. Have former winners done this before? I didn't watch long but they were on for an hour at least. Talk about product placement.

I happened across it when I was flipping through the channels. I only watched for a couple of minutes. The other girl's name is Ali, and she looks really great. Very fit, toned, muscled. The contrast between Ali and Helen was easy to see.

I stuck around hoping to hear from Ali, but the "host" was doing most of the talking, so I moved on.

Just got to watch it. I can pretty much echo what everyone else has said.

About the 3 hour thing, if they're going to do 3 hours then they should do it a la Survivor. Have a reunion show after the weigh in. I'd love to have someone ask Rob about lying about the Kristin boot.
