"Biggest Loser Finale....."
LAST EDITED ON 04-15-08 AT 10:13 AM (EST)

It's with great anticipation and some sadness that tonight is the finale.

I really would love to see Kelly win, won't be disappointed that Ali wins, and I don't much care if one of the guys wins.

Kinda want to see Dan win the 100K. This is the race to watch, who will win the 100K, some pretty good competitors for this prize this year.

Your thoughts in anticipation of tonight's show, and the results of the show.

"The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it" - Albert Einstein

Going out on a limb and saying Kelly takes it. I flipped through a commercial last night that indicated we haven't seen transformations like this before. Julie shocked me big time last year when she hit the 120s. Big shock. I think Kelly has the farthest to go, and I really think she can do it.

I agree about the race at home. Curtis/Jay/Dan and possibly Mallory are my picks. And Roger if he doesn't make it to the final 3.

Tribe is pushing up my daisies!

This is my first season to watch this, so I'm not exactly sure how the finale all works, but it seems like putting the money aside, the whole cast are winners for the weight loss. I really like all of the finalists, so I won't be disappointed any way it goes. They all look great!

I think this has been one of my favourite seasons. It was originally really grating on my nerves to have so many twists..every darn week, but I think I have liked the people this season more than usual. I too am sooooo excited about tonight's finale..but sad that it will be over for a while. I am not sure when it is coming back on..but I hope soon!

My picks:
I would LOVE for Kelly or Ali to win...as I think they are both deserving.
I would not be surprised to see Dan win the at home contestant's money..or maybe Curtis from the original brown team.
As long as Mahk doesn't win. Nothing agaist Mark personally, he seems like a great guy...and he has worked his butt off (literally, he he he...), but I really want to see a woman win this for a change!

The way the have J say "I've waited 5 years for a woman to win this thing makes me think Ali or Kelly take it! Woooo Hooo!

That's what the edit has been about, right? The unlikeliness of a woman winning versus the "Pride" men's group.

And we have Roger first...lean mean and in a velvet blazer? The coat likely adds some weight....I think he is skinny beneath the coat.

And now we have Mark....if he didn't have a belt on his suit pants I think they would fall off. He looks damn good. Scruffy beard. Says without twists and turns he wouldn't have gotten back in the game.

And the one who stays in.....

Jenny and her dad, Len:

Len still combing his harid as he is on TV.

Then Amanda and Neil....both have made progress. Amanda nearly unrecognizable,

Wow Betty Sue! Still has some of a stomach....

Wow, Mallory and Curtis....Curtis lookin' sharp. Not Roger skinny sharp but...there is more to come.

BTW...only less than 100,000 votes between Roger and Mark.

Now bringing out Jen ....Jen has doenwell when you consider her before pic. Maggie lookin' damn good. Good job Maggie!

Jackie is slim! AND DAN--looks fierce!

Trent...OMG he looks terrific next to his b4 pic

Bernie! He is AWESOME looking. SO is Brit!!! Sexy!!!

Jay!!! OMG Jay looks nearly manorexic. Hugs Mark.

Paul is ill and too ill to make the trip. He is rooting for Kelly. Good clapping for Kelly.

Is Mark crying again? (No) Hostess (what is her name?) digs on him about his crying all season.

Mark wanted to get to the bottom of why he was so overweight. Emotional stuff was one of the components.

Bernie...it's not about the $$.... it's getting healthy, etc.

Sign in the audience..Bernie...flame hot.

Curtis...came on the show to qualify for health insurance and needs to be 238 lbs to get insurance.

Now a recap of the top 3---

Quotes/vids from each of the top 3.

Bette Sue says it was worth all the humiliation she went through to see the transformation in Ali.

Kelly...Don her boyfriend says she took his breath away (wow).

Roger with wife and son....seeing that footage you can see how much he has lost since his homecoming. 144 on campus lost--wow!
Ivan loves him very very much (his son). Awwwww.

I won't mind whoever wins. I like all three of the F3.

Ok, how the heck are they going to drag out the final result for 39 minutes?

Allison says before that we see their struggles.

Ali...to get to gym, workout, make right choices. She looks thin in the face.

She eats frozen yogurt at night. She is scared

Kelly's back bothers her. No pain no gain. Doc says MRI shows herinated disk with nerve impingement. Nothing is that important to risk getting crippled from it. She is bummed because she wants to go further.

Roger: feels the pressure. Frustrated and he watches his diet and weighs everything. He had hit a plateau. Unfamiliar territory. Running out of time.

(BTW, remember Mark had the meals sent to his home? Wow for Bernie)!!!

Struggles. Bob says one day at a time, eat a little less, move around more and trust God.

Jill...why should a woman win? Make impossible your fav word.
Welcome the challenge....when you bring your heart and mind to your intention there is nothing you can not accomplish.

Roger takes Subway to his kid's school

Kelly working at it....

Ali training like a world class athlete... doing it for all women... wants to be first female BL

Roger fear of the unknown with the women....what are they doing

Kelly against all odds....

Roger working like a dog

Kelly trying and looking strong

Ali working out with her mom, Bette Sue

Allison on the America's challenge sponsered by MSN:

Over 1 million pounds lost by America and a couple named Marcus and Amber win something some kind of grand prize. She does not say what the GP is, huh.

Ok now 27 min left in the show.

Roger comes back out....hugs America back...thank you for making me 3rd finalist... his blazer looks big on him.

And now....

Kelly...the RN...heaviest female on campus,......she looks awesome!!! black velvet form fitting dress.

Face looks a lot thinner. I'd say at least -40 percent

And here's Ali....freakin' tiny!!!! black dress with hot pink belt around her waist. She is sooooooo slim..... sooo hot!!! She is smaller and trimmer than Jillian imo.

She says she is going to represent as first female BL....

Now around 19 min left...

Ali gets to choose wt loss order because she was the wt loss percentage leader on campus.

Roger is up first:

Wow, he was a biggggg boy.

Original wt: 363 lbs lost -144 lbs on campus, about 40 percent

Now: 199 -164 lbs now - 45.18%

----------------------

Kelly: they remind us of her fertility issues, 3 miscarriages and 2 eptopic pregnancies.

Allison says Kelly needs to lose - 122 lbs to beat Roger

Original wt: 271 lbs - lbs on campus

Now: 162 lbs -109 or 40.22%!!!! I thought it would be around 40%! WTG, Kelly! I am so proud of you!!! (she needed another -13 to beat Roger).

------------------------

Ali: she is ready .... needs to lose more than -105 to win

She says she got fat 5 lbs at a time. I totally get the 5 lb thing!

Original wt: 234 lbs

Now: 122 - 112 lbs or 47.86% ... Cue the confetti!!!! She hugs Bette Sue

--------------------------

Way to go, Ali!!!! Congratulations, Ali!!!! Awesome accomplishment, Ali!!!!

Yeah! A woman finally won BL!

---------------

Crap! I accidentally changed the channel...I missed the last celebratory hugs, etc. Can anyone add what happened as Ali hugged Bette Sue and the confetti fell? Thanks!

I really haven't payed much attention to this show except for the fact that my kids love it and it is on when I have to shuffle them off to bed.

That said, I've watched enough during the season and most of the past couple of weeks to say that each and everyone of them did a remarkable job!

Losers one and all! LOL!

Congratulations. (esp. Ali!)

I was happy for all the contestants. They all looked amazing.

I was a bit surprised that Kelli didn't drop a little bit more than she did. Too bad about her back problem. And Paul.....does anyone else think that maybe Paul's sickness includes gaining weight? or am I just cynical?

I kind of thought Brit would have lost a bit more also, but I was happy to see the skydiving clip. She was off the ranch for awhile, but she was beautifl.

I for one am so glad Bernie beat both Mark and Dan. Mark was so use to whipping his butt I'm glad Bernie pulled it out and Dannyboy is still a little too much on the cocky side. And did I see that right? Did Bernie win by "1 pound"?! This should have been dubbed the 1 lbs season instead of couples season.

Rockstar Ali - Good God she's a freaking machine. And did you see those arms?! When I grow up I want to be Ali! Ali beating Roger, wow.

I'm so going to miss this season, I loved my 2 hrs of laughing at Mahk crying.

I thought Sweeney did a good job with the live finale. I was worried but she pulled it off AND got a friendly jab in at Mahk.

That's what my husband said. Well, he said he thinks Paul didn't lose any weight.

I was kind of afraid to see Ali. I thought she would be all skin and bones, trying too hard to win it and not having much more to lose. She looks great! I was very relieved when I saw her. I was crossing my fingers for Kelly to win. She looks great. Roger too. Great F3.

I was rooting for Danny to take the 100k but once I saw Bernie, I knew he could possibly take it. And yep, he won by 1lb.

Brittany is freaking gorgeous.

Remember how Paul was the one, when they had the week of being at home, who was eating the fried food at the restaurant with his friends...and the one who would not return Jillian's phone call?

He had a much longer way to go to changing his mentality to go with his workouts. Food was his friend/enemy.

Don't People or other mags usually follow up with the BL's after the season? I think we'll hear about what happened to Paul eventually. I hope he did not have a heart attack or something awful like that.

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking as well...sick my azz...I am sure he just got in a bad mental state and ate himself back to being his starting weight. I was really worried about Paul when he left as he seem to be losing it..so I am hoping that I am wrong and he really is "sick" but, I fear it might be that he just put on so much weight again that he didn't want to face the final. One would have thought that with his partner in crime in the finale, he would have definately been there..

Way to go Ali!!!! I am so happy that she won!!

While I am glad that a woman finally won BL, I think they should have 2 winners a season--the top losing female and the top losing male.

Jackie was the top losing female of the non finalists at -36.18%.

She would have had to lose 25 more pounds to beat Bernie for the $100k prize. She was 246, lost -89lbs. to be 157 lbs. Another -25 would put her at 132. How tall is she? Isn't she fairly tall? what is the right weight range for her height?

Will it take another 5 years to have another female winner?

BTW, for Dan to have beaten Bernie, he would have had to have lost another 7 lbs. He started at 310, lost 136 to be 174. He needed to have lost -143 to be 167. How tall is he? What is the right weight range for his height?

Overall, I am so impressed with this cast. 9 of the 19 on stage lost 35 percent or greater. 3 women and 6 men lost at least 35 percent; and two women and four men over 40 percent weight loss is phenomenal!

Paul.....hmmm....don't buy it.

I was pulling for Kelly, I was disappointed, but I think she has a healthy outlook on her future.

I am afraid that Ali will have troubles maintaining her loss. She's looking rather harsh in my book.

Dan/Jackie wonderful couple make-over.

****Does anyone have the stats to find out the biggest loser couple, who lost the most % in order. Thanks.

Team Brown looked fabulous.

Lynn didn't look like he lost 80 lbs at all.

I was surprised by a Bernie win, but I'm fine with it.

I wish I could remember more....

Brittany could stand to stay on the same regimen and look ever more attractive.

I am really, really happy that Bernie won the 100K. I think he was the most deserving as he appeared to need the money (i recall that he seemed to live in a basement suite in a back alley type of thing!) and is young and could use it, unlike Dan who appears to live in a freakin' mansion!

I also would have been happy for Curtis, as any young couple with kids could use money, but I am especially happy for Bernie as he really deserved it.

Yeah right, Paul was too sick. They didn't show any video of him in Kelly's homecoming. They could have had some video or something. He was a sore loser and probably didn't like the way he was edited.

I really didn't see anything unusual about Paul not being at Kelly's homecoming. Her boyfriend was there; maybe it's one of those situations where the past and present don't mix? And, I'm not sure they still live in the same town - but maybe they do.

That said, I too wondered if he really was ill. If that was the case, they still could have shown pics of him.

Pneumonia's usually an acute illness, not a chronic one, at least in some one not of old age. I still say he chickened out because of weight. I'm in a mean mood and can take it out on him guilt free.

Actually Paul is was VERY sick... on the main Biggest Loser Message Board one of his family members posted that he has had 5 major surgeries one of which was a Colonoscopy (that went bad leading to the 4 other surgeries), and is still in the hospital recovering. They are hoping he comes home soon but says that he has lost a lot of weight and has a long way to recovery. I don't post often, but I thought people should know this before they berate someone who worked very hard to change his life and then almost died in the hospital, it kind of sucks that everyone is so quick to believe the worst... but hey that's life. Ironically the doctors said the weight he lost on the ranch saved his life.

48. "Paul Revisited"
Ok, I was a skeptic when they said Paul was sick and couldn't make it to the show. I now feel a strange reason to justify my feelings.

* The bad edit of him when he went home and eating at the restaurant.
* The bad edit about not returning the phone calls.
* The fact that he still loved Kelly and it probably hurt to know she was doing well, and had someone at home who loved her.

How could NBC helped the skepticism?
* Allison could have said that he was (gravely) ill and in the hospital. (I know, I know, patient confidentiality, but they could have gotten a release from him)
* Kelly doing a shout out wishing him the best in his recovery.
* Just something a little more believable than the obscure excuse that we received.

I was happy with the finale except that as usual it was much too long.

Even if it had been Mark in the F3 instead of Roger, Ali still won!
And Ali was the only one to beat Bernie in overall weight loss percentage.
Bernie=45.94%
Mark= ?
Roger=45.18%
Kelly=40.22%
Ali=47.86%

Did anyone else think the women's dresses were terrible?
Except a few - Jackie looked great, her dress was perfect for her.
Most of the others looked like they tried to find the tighest fitting thing they could to show off how slim they were. But? it didn't work - show too much belly bulge still on most. Mallory's dress was especially unbecoming (IMO).
BetteSue's top actually emphasized her roundness.

Yes the women's clothing was very unflattering. Many of the dresses only made them look bigger - there were several with horizontal stripes. I mean, really!!

I'm glad Bernie won - there was no one I wanted to win more. I was very sick of Dan and of all the "pride" members, plus Bernie was trained by Jillian and it was nice of her to have a win, given how Bob stole all the huge guys in his attempt to win toward the beginning of the season. Remember all that?

I was thrilled for Ali - she totally deserved it, looked super-cute and fabulous! Roger seems like a great guy, but time for a woman to win, and she did it!

Doubt that Paul was "sick" - I imagine he's gained a ton of weight and couldn't show his face...

None of the women, except for Ali, wore flattering dresses. Why women, who still have weight to lose, think at-least-one-size-too-tight clothing makes them look thinner is beyond me. It often makes them look fatter. As does light colored and/or super-shiny fabric. Whatever happened to wearing clothes that conceal figure flaws? Rather than advertise them?

Many of the women do still have weight to lose, but they have all lost some weight. They are all proud of their accomplishments thus far and want to show off their new bodies. They definitely do not see those clothes as unflattering; it's the best they've looked in years.

Found this on the NBC BL message board--sounds like Paul has been having a very hard time and is still in the hospital:

----------------

"About Paul. He has been very sick. One day after being released from a week in the hospital with pneumonia, he had his appendix removed and 6-9 inches of his colon and a colostomy. 8 days later he had another surgery to remove a blood clot and unkink his intestines.

So one month later the colostomy goes bad and he is again in surgery #3 to return his colon back to normal. While in the hospital, an infection has taken over his body and has had surgery #4 and #5 to help pump out the infection.

Needless to say, he has been in the hospital for 3 weeks this time. He is on his way to recovery and may come home this week. It was real hard for him not to be at the finale. He loves Kelly dearly. That will never change. He would have loved to have been there to be by her side."

----------------

What a nightmare for him!

And another one:

"Paul has been in the hospital since Feb 5th of this year. I was so glad that they decided to say something about him. Paul has been fighting for his life the past month and a half. We are so hoping that he will get to come home soon and get started on his new life. He has lost a LOT of weight, and is looking really good. We are hoping that he will soon be able to get back to work, however at this point his job has been filled, but they are hoping to be able to put him in another position when he gets back on his feet.

It has been a long haul for him, and by the grace of God he seems to have pulled through all 5 of his surgeries and other things that have happened. But thank goodness for Kelly wanting to go on the show, if he had not of lost the weight he had the doctor's said he probably would have passed away.

So he is living proof that losing weight will help you live longer. His spirits are high, or they were until the show last night. I have not talked to him yet today to see how he is doing but I am sure he is very proud of all the people from the show. So please keep Paul in your thoughts and prayers as he travels the road to recovery."

Thanks for the info on Paul. I'm sorry he has been so ill - and sorry that I had doubts about his illness.

Thanks for that link too.
It brings up a point several of us have made on this and other seasons. How can these women say they wear such a small size?

From the link:
She went from 271 pounds at the start to 178 in the show that aired this week.
..............................
The short-term result: Despite being limited by a herniated disc in her back, Fields has continued to drop weight and jean sizes.
"Stairs, stairs and more stairs," Fields said with a laugh last week. "I came here between a size 10-12. In three weeks, I'm down to a six."

So, Kelly is a size 6 at 178 lbs. Sorry, that I can not believe.
I'm 178 lbs. I'm also 5 ft 9 1/2" tall (used to be 10 1/2" but somehow I've shrunk!). I wear mostly size 16.

The show is so good at motivating and all. I just wish they would be more honest about the women's clothing sizes.

Kelly a 6????? As much as I love her, the sizes aren't honest in the real sense of clothing sizing.

I am 43, 5'4", and 137 lbs., I wear an 8 most times and sometimes sliding into a 10. 6's are rare these days.

Let's see...no doubt Kelly was plus sized when she started the show.

So by the time she shows up at Julie's she is 10-12. Size ten could be one of those dresses that fit like a 10 on top and then is flowy on the bottom?

Then she whittled inches off? I agree, hard to imagine size 6...wonder what brand she is wearing that is size 6 but she did look good at the finale. Maybe that is how toned up she was?

Still, thinking through this...does not sound right, does it?

If Kelly was a six at the end, what size was Ali at the end? 0?

While I truly feel sorry that Paul is sick, surely NBC must have known that their off-hand comment that he was ill and unable to travel would have elicited this kind of speculation. I expect a great number of those watching assumed the same thing that many of us did, that he either was upset by his edit or he gained back the weight. Unfortunately, those that don’t come to boards like this one will continue to think that.

Surely they could have phrased their comments in such a way so as to reduce this speculation while still giving him his privacy.

Paul's situation sounds like it was very, very serious. I've taken care of people with these kind of issues and they did not survive. Usually, anyone who has been as ill as this will lose weight, unless medications cause the person to become bloated. So hopefully Paul will be on a good course, but he must be very weak. I still think of him contacting his Zen warrior and marching across the balance beam like a man on a mission!

Anyone notice the blatant Subway product placement during the finale? The way Roger pimped Subway to those school-kids? Not such a good idea, IMO. While there are some items that, because they're lower in fat and calories, are "healthier" than most other fast food fare, these kids could get the mistaken notion that everything Subway sells is healthy. Which is far from the case. I think families should be encouraged to have healthy home-prepared meals. Instead of eating out so much.

Congrats Ali!!

Now having said that, I don't believe she is at her ideal weight. I think she will gain some weight back (maybe 15-20 pounds), and she will still look fantastic. If I was in her shoes, so close to $250K, you better believe I would have considered the eating disorder route to ensure I won the cash.

She lost a lot of weight and has made life changes to hopefully keep most of it off, but the show is still a game.

I think I just read in People that she said she was working out 6-8 hours per day in order to maintain and be ready for the finale. That's an unreasonable amount of time to work out every single day. No doubt she will put some back on, but she can still be healthy and look great.
