"Tonight's episode 11/09/2004"
Is 90 minutes long and my online TVGuide says:

With 10 contestants remaining, the teams compete in a "pop star" challenge, which requires them to write and perform a song about weight loss

I wonder how they will be tested/tempted this week?

I think that there is demoralizing focus on week to week weight loss as indicated by the scale readings, when the focus should be on changing dietary habits and positive motivation.

I'm here! I always check in the day after.

This episode was better than I expected. The popstar challenge wasn't as rediculous as I expected, and it was nice to see them lose a significant amount of weight again this week.

I am guessing that they show us the most extreme parts of their workouts. Watching them on the treadmills and climbing the hills, I was thinking how hard that would be for people who were relatively fit. I am a little overweight, but probably in the top 10-20% in overall fitness for someone my age. I could see myself attacking that hill for a minute or two at a time, but mostly, would have to walk to make it to the top. I could do the treadmill at the speeds they were doing for about 30 -40 minutes, but not much longer. If they did 10 minutes at a time at the higher pace, then an hour at a walk, I could probably go for HOURS.

I totally agree with you on this too. I think I said something like this on the second week thresd! With these peeps being that much overweight...I don't think they would reach it in the second week!

Work out 3-4 hours daily with no sleep and little food? What kind of plan is that? Is this something that can be sustained or just a fad workout to promote rapid wieght loss for the show at the risk of personal injury to the contestants?

I didn't see this part. I was flipping back and forth to this show and Rebel Billionaire (damn good show IMHO!)!

Was this the red team that had no sleep or the blue team?

I think it was the red team. I'm still having trouble understanding how someone can lose 14 pounds or more in a week? This makes me think that these people are depriving themselves of fluids as they exercise and possibly purging themselves before weighing in. Also, isn't it prety unrealistic to have people weighing upwards of 300 pounds attacking a hill and then asking them to run down a steep rocky slope? This is a good way to twist an ankle or worse. I haven't seen much on this show that is realistic or something I would incorporate into a workout regimein.

10. "RE: Tonight's episode 11/09/2004"
I was hoping this show would go into more details of the exact diets and workouts the peeps are going through. NBC could do a great service to all overweight people by giving them ideas of things to do to help jump start someone's routine. IMHO!

I can see where these people could lose 15 pounds in a week. I mean these people are really obese and when you deprive someone of the amount of food I believe they were eating...they will lose weight quickly! I was surprised of the results in week 2 however. I have dieted before and I have never had to lose as much weight as these peeps do and I haven't reached a plateau that quickly!

I wish NBC would have the trainers give more explanations as to how they are approaching these people!

Hiya Doc!

Thought I would help you out. I had previously checked out the NBC site to see if they had posted the workout regimes the trainers were using. Here they are:

Red Team Diet

13. "RE: Tonight's episode 11/09/2004"
The red team continued to have amazing weight loss, but the blue team had only modest weight loss. In the end, the red team lost 24 lbs more than the blue team, so the blue team had to send someone home.

The ladies on the blue team thought one of them was going home because they were outnumbered, but in a shocking twist, Andrea, Kelly, and Maurice teamed up to send Aaron home. He was their biggest loser every week, and had plenty more he could lose, so it was probably a stupid team decision.

They voted against Aaron because he gave him a reason to let him go. He told the team he had a) gotten more than halfway to his weight loss goal, and b) felt like he would be able to lose the rest whether he was on the show or not. In fact, the epilogue on Aaron shows he lost an additional 27 lbs and is under 200 lbs for the first time in six years. He looked very good.

16. "RE: Tonight's episode 11/09/2004"
One has to wonder about the strategy at work in this decision? Obviously, Aaron was a strong player, consistently losing more weight than anyone else on the team. As the biggest loser so far, was he perceived as a threat rather than a team asset? With Aaron gone, the team will likely lose future challeneges and this could lead to a team reshuffing? Also, the other memebers of the Blue team match up more favorably with their team mates in terms of weight lost so far. It might not have been the best personal decision for Aaron to put himself out fron as the biggst loser to date rather than pacing himself to match the weight loss of the team. I think that since he stood out from the others he was taken out because he had lost a good portion of the weight he could reasonably be expected to lose in the given time frame.

LAST EDITED ON 11-10-04 AT 10:50 PM (EST)

It is the same strategy as every other similar dumb a$$ reality show where there is a weekly community vote, "get rid of the competetion". The girls know the producers are just going to merge the teams when it gets down to just the two girls left on the red team. So the girls sandbag for the next 2-4 weeks then turn on/off the fat. Maurice just isn't smart enough to see that he is going to be next.
