I think that there is demoralizing focus on week to week weight loss as indicated by the scale readings, when the focus should be on changing dietary habits and positive motivation.

Work out 3-4 hours daily with no sleep and little food? What kind of plan is that? Is this something that can be sustained or just a fad workout to promote rapid wieght loss for the show at the risk of personal injury to the contestants?

I think it was the red team. I'm still having trouble understanding how someone can lose 14 pounds or more in a week? This makes me think that these people are depriving themselves of fluids as they exercise and possibly purging themselves before weighing in. Also, isn't it prety unrealistic to have people weighing upwards of 300 pounds attacking a hill and then asking them to run down a steep rocky slope? This is a good way to twist an ankle or worse. I haven't seen much on this show that is realistic or something I would incorporate into a workout regimein.

I taped episode 3 tonight, but only got through the first four contestant weigh-ins -- gotta recheck the clock on my VCR! Can anyone fill me in? Thanks.

The red team continued to have amazing weight loss, but the blue team had only modest weight loss. In the end, the red team lost 24 lbs more than the blue team, so the blue team had to send someone home. The ladies on the blue team thought one of them was going home because they were outnumbered, but in a shocking twist, Andrea, Kelly, and Maurice teamed up to send Aaron home. He was their biggest loser every week, and had plenty more he could lose, so it was probably a stupid team decision. They voted against Aaron because he gave him a reason to let him go. He told the team he had a) gotten more than halfway to his weight loss goal, and b) felt like he would be able to lose the rest whether he was on the show or not. In fact, the epilogue on Aaron shows he lost an additional 27 lbs and is under 200 lbs for the first time in six years. He looked very good. Handcrafted by RollDdice!

One has to wonder about the strategy at work in this decision? Obviously, Aaron was a strong player, consistently losing more weight than anyone else on the team. As the biggest loser so far, was he perceived as a threat rather than a team asset? With Aaron gone, the team will likely lose future challeneges and this could lead to a team reshuffing? Also, the other memebers of the Blue team match up more favorably with their team mates in terms of weight lost so far. It might not have been the best personal decision for Aaron to put himself out fron as the biggst loser to date rather than pacing himself to match the weight loss of the team. I think that since he stood out from the others he was taken out because he had lost a good portion of the weight he could reasonably be expected to lose in the given time frame.
