"Marrying Up To The Next Generation??" |
I remember in the begining when this episode first started last week the cajun mom had said that she had met diego when he was nine years old and then she said that she had married up a generation. Does this mean that the cajun mom and dad are cousins? I've been wondering this ever since she said it thanks for the help to whoever answers this.

Diego is a SEXY DEVIL. Who cares if they are cousins? It's legal to marry your cousin, isn't it? A guy who looks like that, and has such a sweet demeanor -- who cares what his background it. But no, I do not think she said they were blood relatives. I think if there are signs of inbreeding going on, it is probably more likely in Barbara Gates. She seems like a troubled woman.

The local county paper Hamou has an article on the family. You do have to register to read so I am unable to put a link up.But they are cousins and only 5 years between them. Apparently Diego is 40.. he looks 30 and she is 45. But the family has had some hard times of late.. They lost seven loved ones in six months, then took beatings from a tornado, floods and hurricanes. Then Swamp Mama has health problems stemming from a weakened immune system most likely the result of blood poisoning from mosquito spray. Then the subsequent treatments for blood poisoning led to yeast in her blood, which in turn put her life at risk. She apparently prayed to God for help and oddly at this time was recruited by Fox for the show. She actually thinks being placed with the vegan family was the answer to her prayers. I quote from the source... "I was on the right track, but I didn’t have no resources," she said. "I was glad to hear they were vegetarian. I learned a lot from them people… That is what it was about to me. To me, this was God’s way of saving my life and my family." So you never know.. for the Cajun family this was a blessing in disguise. Shame it was such an ugly one in the form of the VB but I am glad they got more than just 50K but a new lease on life. Unfortunately for the psycho Vegan family such self awareness.. not happening.
