My friend just spent a semester in australia and she says that Jack doesn't have a real "auzzie" accent. (Of course, I have met people from australia who have weaker accents than him). Well, I'm an Aussie and I don't have a broad (i.e. strong) accent, either. He is definitely Australian, but methinks he might be well-off. Maybe not in millionnaire way that you have in US, but still well off. The one distinct difference in Australian accents is between rural (stronger) and city accents. In addition, his mother is Italian, according to the TBS website, which might have had an impact on his accent -- although to be honest, his mother might be second or third-generation Australian-Italian, which would refute this theory right outta the water.
