I belive you are mistaken on two counts. First, the "house" does not belong to Vadim's mother, nor was that ever insinuated -- that was strictly your assumption. It's a lux resort in the middle of the Kimberley Wilderness call the El Questro Homestead. Secondly, why is Vadim's appropriateness for the show's premise invalidated because he grew up in the city and was well educated? His list of physical accomplishments is as impressive as it is rare; he is clearly an elite athlete. Further, he has worked as a station hand in Victoria, which is a brutal existence even for the toughest of men. Regardless that he doesn't live in the Outback full-time, I don't find anything in his background that undermines his claim as an "athlete/outdoorsman". Victoria has small stations and are easily run given the extreme close proximity to a major city and shipping port. I doubt any stations would be without electricity and with the little number of stock, mostly tame, well fed sheep or very small numbered well generationed stock lines, its a cakewalk, hardly a brutal existance. Up north things are still pretty old ways. I have a cousin who jumped from a ute onto the back of a rogue pig. He got hurt pretty bad and it killed the pig outright because it ended up under the ute. But that was nothing compared to the hiding he got when he arrived back at the station and my Uncle gave him a serve for playing up in the car and ripping out the exhaust pipe with the pig. That in itself is a challenge to get them to think about someone else besides themselves in such a short time, quite why they pick such fake ones for a 'reality show' is kinda weird. If the girls really could survive without all the luxuries like tents, fresh food and having someone stop them from drinking all the fresh water we might have got a real show. Lets face it, a better show would have been if they could steal the heart of the average outback cattle property heir, then they stand to become instant multi-Millionaress'anyway. Winner could have married him and flown home to the U.S. every other weekend. Getting past his Mum would prove the big final challenge, and I'll wager it would be prime time viewing out here. Imagine well educated/ well to do familied Mother letting American gold digger near golden boy. Rounding up chickens in yard, mustering cattle on motorbikes, sleeping on ground, ( did I mention the ants) washing in steel water tanks, dipping 200,000 cattle and cutting poo off the hair on their tails so it doesn't become fly-blown, ( yuk job for girls) fixing machinery, taking unsuspecting girls to huge dance where 500 young men ( who can all dance by the way) will drive 700 miles to fight over them,...... Phew, Now THAT would be a show. Look at my single cousin for instance, part Heir to 2 properties and runs/inherits biggest cattle transport business in top end of Oz. Owns own jet.
