"Got Milk?"
LAST EDITED ON 12-04-03 AT 11:52 AM (EST)

Do you think Dairy Farmer Guy will see a bit of a drop off in business once the folks down home see what the gals did to the morning delivery? I could practically hear dozens of people gagging and shouting "I KNEW there was something wrong with that milk last month!" here in California...

The mitzvah that is my signpic courtesy the genius that is our own JSlice. Such a nice girl! Now, have some more borscht.

Hopefully he caught it before he shipped it. If not then it very well could ruin his business. What idiots.

The meat industry will collapse, too, now that Paris won't eat hamburger.

As if she eats. Anything.

I'm guessing the camera crew stopped the shipment and compensated him for the lost income -- or possibly replaced the bottles with milk purchased at full retail. No 'goodness of their hearts' at work here, though: FOX would have realized that letting those bottles go out opened them up to a couple of hundred lawsuits.

Actually, there would be a choice involved: sue the Hiltons, Richies, FOX, or any combination that let your lawyer get extra billable hours in. But of the three, FOX has the most to lose -- and would be the most eager to avoid legal troubles. (The girls seem to expect that 'someone else' will clean up their messes, take care of their hassles, and generally smooth out their lives. In this case, they were right.)

6. "A faked sequence"
Watch the number of bottles on the table. At the start of the sequence, Paris and Nicole have all the bottles aligned neatly on the table, and they're filling the bottles up with the hose. Then we have a few "accidents" -- but the bottles are still aligned neatly. Then we have the "pour the water into the bottles" sequence, with virtually no bottles on the table, and the girls are trying to hide the leftover bottles. Then we have Danny checking up on the girls ... and all the bottles are aligned neatly on the table again.

In other words, the "pour the water into the bottles" sequence happened at the end. But ... did it really "happen" at all, or was it staged? As you can tell from my Ep. 2 summary, I think it was staged. I think that the camera crew didn't think that the footage of the girls filling milk bottles, with a few minor mishaps, was very interesting TV. And I'm sure that Danny would have put out more milk bottles than were needed. So, I think the producers made a deal with Danny to let the girls play-act at the end of the milk-filling sequence ... and the girls play-acted the entire "Lucy and Ethel fill milk bottles" bit, which the producers then inserted into the show so that it looked like it was taking place while Paris and Nicole were filling milk bottles for shipment.

Contrived situations are normal for reality shows. But this show carries things too far. The milk-filling bit was no more real than Paris' "Wal-Mart" crack. It made for good TV, but it's just improv comedy with props.

7. "RE: A faked sequence"
Sadly, I didn't tape the show --

-- just a moment, got to correct that --

-- happily, I didn't sentence innocent videotape to the ignoble fate of containing this series, so I can't go back and check it. However, given that you got to see the sequence more times than I did, I'll come down on your side and agree that the ILL tribute was staged. (Hmm. How appropriate are those initials?) Especially in light of last night.
I actually began to suspect heavy scripting while Our Zeroes were working at Sonic. (I didn't see your reply until today.) New employees at fast food establishments are frequently put onto one job and left there until they show they've mastered it -- and _then_ get rotated to another station. I can believe Paris on the cash register on her first day, but not moving her to grill cleaning, food delivery, et. all in the course of a few hours. The same for Nicole, who hardly had a chance to get the hang of breakfast sandwiches before she started getting bored with the batter machine. It looked like the producers asked management to throw as much at them in a short time as they could, figuring virtually no training + virtually no dedication = virtually no chance of having to report to work the next day.
However, given what we've seen of Nicole's personality, I believe the decision to rearrange the letters on the sign was her own. Trying to hide the extra letters, though...
