Icey bounced my Dicey

Today I give props to Arby's. It's really not just about the roast beef anymore. I enjoyed a hearty lunch of a Martha's Vineyard Salad (spring mix, grape tomatoes, cranberries, Granny Smith apples, cheddar cheese and grilled chicken) and a cup of Brunswick Stew. Since the cheese was cheddar, I traded my raspberry vinagrette dressing for a ranch. The price, including my sweetened iced tea with lemon, was $7.85, putting Arby's in the Dawg Pound and giving Panera a run for the money. And the best part: you see all of the ingredients and you watch the salad being made.

Good God, I just realized how hungry I am. Unfortunately, I'm at work and do not have access to food. But I'll take a grilled chicken salad with cherry tomatoes and red onions, please. Ranch if it's not bottled ranch. Make it fresh with buttermilk and mayo. Mmmmmmmmm. Oh yeah, I'd like croutons, also.

12. "RE: The Salad Bar"
This is by far my favorite thread of the day.

greens -- anything darker than iceberg - Spring mix, Romaine, spinach, all good.

tomatoes -- Roma, chopped and salted

onions -- no...they don't agree with me, unfortunately

peppers -- green, red, orange, yellow, chopped very small.

other veggies -- mushrooms, carrots

meat -- sometimes grilled chicken

cheese -- just about any kind. Cheddar, or feta and mozz, gorganzola is awesome...just depends on the salad.

fruit -- not usually, but apples are nice in a waldorff of course. But I don't really like raisins.

other toppers -- toasted pine nuts, absolutely. Pine nuts are fantastic on almost any salad I can think of. Or pecans, second choice. Croutons, yes. The big kind, garlic/butter is my fav. If I do bacon at all, it's crumbled up pieces that I've cooked.

I am so hungry right now!
