Besides the usual reason of "entertainment value" what would the other reasons be for the producers to encourage them to behave in a way that's so contrary to who they really are? I suppose those closest to them could see through their facade, and it wouldn't effect that part of their social lives after this thing is all done and over with, but what about people they haven't met yet? Their behavior on this show could very well turn off a really good match for them had they never gone on the show, but she may not give them the time of day after seeing them on the show. Even if the hunks changed and became less shallow or conceited or less of a bully, the public would never know, and trying to squeeze a second chance out of a publicly soiled reputation is like trying to squeeze blood out of a turnip. People only want to read the trash out of the tabloids and go no further. "RE: the "hunks"" I just got done watching another episode of this "joke of a show." I keep smacking my head, knowing I could turn to some cable channel and watch something less annoying and disgusting. The hunks, first of all, are dorks. Two-thirds of them aren't even that hot. And the ones that are decent-looking, are just a run-of-the-mill, dime-a-dozen shell that you can find all over this world, so they need to get over themselves. The idiot, Chris Carson, or whatever his name is, had no right to get pissed off at Dante for pecking him on the lips. He started the whole thing, by messing with private property. He brought it on himself. He's your typical crybaby brat that is used to getting his way, and when he doesn't, he needs his rattle. He needs to realize that if he's going to take on the attitude of "all is fair in love and war," and he brings out, say, an AK-47 to start a shootout, and the enemy pulls out a rocket launcher, he can't complain! He has no right to moan about the enemy doing something worse in retaliation. He acted like the world came to an end because he got lip-pecked. How sad. Bottom line: Maybe he should step back and think twice about starting a war that might carry the risk of consequence! Oh, and by the way, I've had guys like that hit on me, and I squish them like little bugs--ticks them off to no end! Heh, heh... Whether it's fake or not (or somewhere in between), these guys make it seem pretty easy to act like jerks, and shouldn't whine when they have to reap what they sew beyond the show, in terms of getting treated like crap or dissed by people. This chick that all these guys are vying for, better not be some bubblehead; she better see how shallow and retarded most of those hunk-guys are. A new shallow low, but I'm glad all that came out in the wash. Carson argues Anna is only there to further her career. An old, boring argument. I'm sure the producers, etc are aware of that possibility, and they don't have a problem with it. The odds are in their favor of advancing their career rather than finding a partner anyway, so get over it. If that should happen incidentally, why not take the opportunity and enjoy it. It's when they have to trash others on the way up to get what they want is when I start to have problems with the process. These days, it's not may the best (wo)man win anymore, it's may the best back-stabber win regardless of talent, resume, qualifications, potential, ability to work well with others etc. etc. Mike goes so far as to say "Yeah, good riddence... Anna did nothing for me." - shows where his head is at in general. He so self-centered, it must cost him a fortune just to get laid.
