So you're not allowed to attack another team physically in any way. However, it really looks like Jonathan is going to actually HIT Victoria in an upcoming episode. In the previews of next episode he raises his hand to her several times in the back of that car. And, as mentioned in another thread, he's got a nack for raising a hand and her flinching, which is sad. just sad.I expect that they would edit out any actually hitting, but what do you think? Shouldn't he be penalized if he actually hits or pushes her? And who wants Bolo to be there when/if he does? I'd love a good ol' fashion wresting can of whoop-@ss to be brought out on Jonathan.
I've never seen them actually enforce the "no hurty another teamy" rule since the days of the Guidos... wish they would once in a while. Why have the rule?

I know that CBS woud not show Jonathon hitting his wife but I would hope that if he did, he is out of the race and borught up on charges..CBS could not allow marital abuse in the show as it would get foudn out and ruin the ratings for not helping Victoria. One would think the camerman would step in before anything happened. Violence aganist women cannot be tolerated in any situation, TV or not. (and yes violence aganist anyone or anything too) Colin was a nut but never as bad as this pyscho. Problem is, he is a wimp too so a quick retort from anyone would send him packing.

What amazes me is that he is abusing her verbally every step of the way. If I were operating the camera in their car I would be "accidentally" hitting him with it over and over again.The man is an @$$ and should have been thrown out on his @$$ when they got to the end this last episode.. It makes me sick that they even allowed him to continue. And Victoria needs to realize that he's never going to change. Even with $1M...or maybe she's hoping he drops dead on one of the missions and she gets the insurance money?

Hmmm, Jonathan looks like those type of man who hit his wife. But I don't think he is stupid enough to do it on national TV, maybe not this early in the race. Maybe Victoria persuaded him to join TAR so as to 1) escape from being hit for as long as they stay in the race (she better try hard to stay on) 2) force Jonathan to hit her since the stress level during the race is known to be very high. Then she can ask for divoice and got half of his money.=^_^=

uhm, its his wife so of course he's allowed to hit her, especially when she is acting up like that, but especially when she is doing nothing wrong just to keep her on her toes and remind her that it can come at anytime for any reason.
Really, the only thing we should be debating about that scene was whether it warranted the backhand, the slap or the closed fist.
BTW, and slightly off topic....I notice that there are alot of ladies posting here, sometimes even around supper time. I sure hope you broads didn't forget to get dinner ready and on the table for your men before logging on to chat away. Hey, don't get mad at me, I'm just telling you this for your own good...I sure would hate to see a bunch of you show up here one night with black eyes from "falling down the stairs."

did everyone notice how vic's the workhorse on this team? jon deicides she's doing the hay and makes her navigate the tandem bike while yelling at her the whole time-- in every other man/ women teams, the men assumed those tasks-then when vic earns the clue- he grabs it, sticks his face in the camera, rips it open, then makes some macho victory facial gesture - as if he earned it- doesn't he realize he's behaving this way on national tv? whether or not he is abusive, I don't know-- he is, howver one of the scariest men ever seen on tv- for him not to realize what a completly obnoxious ##### he is means he is seriously disturbed

Her constant comments toward Africa and third world were unbelievable as were her wishes for Paris and a croissant not to mention her glee at moving up to a Mercedes in Berlin. What show did she think she was on? Anybody that's seen the show knows they will be in third world countries and that the race is not often glamourous. To top it off her team finished first tonite, a travesty almost as bad as Jonathan's behavior to his wife. I pray pray pray neither of these teams win the $$$.

Personally I think Jonathan is an abuser who needs urgent batterer intervention counseling. His manic behavior and violent episodes show clearly that he constantly borders on loss of control. But I suspect he has mental illness that might explain (not excuse!) the abuse. I'm angry that the casting people for TAR clearly sought out another abuser to exploit as a villain on a reality show for the amusement of the viewing public and for their profit. To me this is just wrong. I know the race needs a villain to keep it interesting, but why can't they just find hyper-competitive types who will be cut-throat towards other teams within the parameters of acceptable behavior (i.e. they won't become too violent to another team's members, or they risk getting thrown out). I love the idea of the race but last season watching Collin was disturbing and this season, after last night, watching a husband shove his wife, nearly knocking her down, and verbally abusing her to the point where she was incapacitated with tears, it is too much. I think everyone should let CBS know we don't want this type of programming on TAR, and we don't want them casting emotionally disturbed abusers on the show. Just my humble opinion.

<let CBS know we don't want this type of programming on TAR, and we don't want them casting emotionally disturbed abusers on the show.Absolutely right on. I'm off to write my letter to CBS. If enough of us did that, the producers might pay attention. Surely at least one of them has a conscience? This exploitation for the sake of ratings goes beyond the fair play we've come to expect from the producers and the DAWS themselves. Reminds me of Ed TV.

I don't know the validity of this statement. I am so sure they asked around for a man that beats his wife and Jonathon volunteered! This type of stuff doesn't come out in interviews. Also, how did CBS profit from what happened? If they wanted to profit and get viewers they would have been hyping it to no end. However, it wasn't mentioned in the previews for the show. As mentioned on down in the thread there were families watching and were surprised by the show. I think everyone should let CBS know we don't want this type of programming on TAR, and we don't want them casting emotionally disturbed abusers on the show. I don't want things like this edited out! I like the idea of showing the people for what/who they are. This also makes a great way of making people aware of this type of behavior! I was raised to just sweep things under the rug and they will go away. That is so wrong. Things like this need to be discussed and brought out in the open for education if nothing else! This has brought people out to places like this to talk about things that need to be discussed...JMHO!

Well, my 6 year old was watching it "live" with me tonight, because I didn't know about the scene until it happened. Personally, I think I'd let her watch it, and use it as an opportunity to talk about abuse, why it happens, the psychology behind why abused women put up with it, and how she can avoid it.Otherwise, I'd have a "taping error" and record some blue screen time for the few seconds of that incident.

Jonathon is a waste of a sperm, no doubt.What I cannot work out is why they caryy these backpacks that are obviously so heavy they cannot run with them? Yes, its a race around the world but pack light people, fashion don't matter in this race. Victoria should have left Jonathons bag where it lay and if it got stolen oh well. Did anyone else notice a really seedy looking guy in black jacket approach the car at the pit stop and once realising it was tv, slowly walk way?

I'd say not - I seem to recall lots of different teams in lots of different races running to the pitstop without their packs, either because they had left them in the taxi, hire car, or just dumped on the ground at the gate to the pitstop venue. I even recall one team in TAR2 (Mexico City, and was it the team that finally won the race?) leaving their bags in the taxi while heading to a route marker and having to wait for ages for it to come back for them.Me? I'd leave it in the car, especially as it was a hire car and not a taxi, who would be expecting to be able to take off immediately and track down another fare.

It was the team that eventually came in fourth.I remember a number of teams dumping their bags at various points as well. Earlier in this series D & MJ ran off with MA & R's car, they only realised when they saw the wrong packs in the boot, so I guess that it is OK to leave packs in the car. However that isn't really the issue. Jonathon should have left the pack in the car, and I should have bought stock in Microsoft 20 years ago, unfortunately neither happened!

Show options Dec 29 (2 days ago) Thank you for writing to CBS regarding THE AMAZING RACE. We have noted your comments and concerns regarding the December 14 episode of this reality series. Please understand that THE AMAZING RACE is a program which chronicles a decidedly stressful experience that brings out strong emotions in its participants. Understandably, neither CBS nor the producers of the program judge the behavior or offer opinions about the relationships of the participants. Nevertheless, at all times during videotaping of the program security officers are close by and ready to intervene should a contestant be in danger of harm, either from the elements or even a co-competitor. Each series in the reality genre has its own contest rules that govern contestant behavior and the producers carefully consider any aggressive acts as they may apply to those rules. In addition, when extreme outbursts of frustration or emotion do occur on camera, a case-by-case decision is made whether or not to include such footage in the final edited program. We apologize if our decision in this case has caused you distress or concern. We appreciate your taking the time to write. Your comments have been shared with the senior executives at CBS. Of course they are judging the relationship between Jonathan and Victoria - that's why they edited those scenes into the show. They knew it was abusive, and they knew it would generate ratings. Nicely written blather run around of a response to your letter, though. I can feel the concern of CBS. NOT!

..why would you waste your time writing a letter to a network about something like this, or anything in general. Its a TV show, you don't like it, switch the channel. Shouldn't be hard, you obviously know how to use your digits. And if you actually use prime time network television to educate your children, well then, you're probably in for bigger problems later in life than some blue haired loudmouth beating his cilicone enhanced gold digging wife.

Cmon people, yes Jonathon is an abuser but more of it is an act for attention seeking.He only goes off when the camera is on him and he thinks they will use the shot in the show. When the camera is not on him or when something could be his fault, he is as quiet as a mouse. (grape stomping) Yes he is evil but more of a spoilt brat that no one stood up to than a real monster. Guaranteed one nice beating from someone and he would ba pussycat for the rest of his life. Any volunteers?

He only goes off when the camera is on him...Have you personally seen him in real life, not on the TV show? How can you know this for sure? IMO, in the heat of the moment, true colors will shine through! When you are stressed, your reaction to that stress shows the real you.
