"Why no penalty?"
I think the girls got a bad deal this week. The teams who did not complete the camel feeding in the correct method should have be penalised.
The midgets used the bucket and came in just before the girls. They could have been penlaised and others and had a different outcome.
I guess the only reason why not is that the method the teams used DID NOT help them but slowed them down. Wonder what would have happeend if they used something to speed them up.

Anyway I think if rules are set, they should be followed.

Thoughts?

I kind of agree.

They only thing, though, is that we didn't see every every moment of that challenge, and it could be that the little guys finally did use a basket to carry feed for at least one trip.

The instructions said to use the correct tools (baskets for the feed). But if they didn't say that all of the feed was to be carried using the baskets, then using them just once would have been sufficient. It seemed that most if not all of the teams finally wised up.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think anyone (female that is)should be penalized for using their boobies to help them complete a task.

I think this is a 'to the satisfaction of the judges' task in action: as soon as the watching supervisor decides they're fine with your efforts, you're clear. There are times when that's almost necessary -- follow the absolute letter of intent and Dandrew would still be trying to get that march right. Whether this was one of them...

I think M&M probably lost a little time overall from using the bucket: the basket had a much larger capacity. And as you said, mistakes which slow you down frequently don't draw extra penalties.

The fact that the bucket had half the capacity of the basket and probably weighed more was punishment enough for using the wrong method. It's not as if there was any advantage to using the bucket.

Besides, Christie and Jodi were looking like this seasons' version of Dandrew - just doing enough not to get eliminated. We don't want another one of those teams in the F3, do we?

Yes.

That was a dumb move. I guess they thought it wouldn't effect the standings much so they just decided to ignore it. I think it was Lakisha who tried carrying the hay in her shirt.

I'm pretty sure they only penalize teams for not following instructions when doing so gives them an advantage over the teams that do everything to a T.

In this case, the clue just said to use the "traditional materials provided" and the bucket was a provided material... it just wasn't the optimal one for transporting the feed. The teams that started off using the baskets (i.e. Mel/Mike) finished the task much faster than those who didn't.

The team stuffing camel feed down their shirt essentially served a penalty anyway in the additional time it took them to do the task (plus that must have been itchy for the rest of the day!)

If, say, Christie/Jodi had shown up with a bulldozer they flagged down on the street, that would have given them an unfair advantage and they would have been rightly penalized.
