"TAR Official Summary - Episode 6: The More Things Change, The More They Stay the Same"
Previously on The Amazing Race, seven teams headed to Cambodia. Tina whined - again. Terrence lost his temper - again. DanDrew struggled with a hand job and finished next to last - again. Ty and Aja just finished. Will anything change tonight? Probably not. Okay, except for the part about Ty & Aja.

Cue the music. Just close your eyes as you listen, and you won't know the difference.

The teams depart Cambodia and head for DELHI, INDIA! Emphasis added. Upon arrival in INDIA!, teams must make their way to Moonlight Motors to receive their next clue.

As they travel through the streets of INDIA!, culture shock sets in:

Unlike Cambodia, INDIA! is hot.

People drive cars instead of mopeds.

Cows are considered to be holy animals that can stand or walk in the middle of the road without being hit.

DanDrew move up to second place. As in second from first.

The official language is not Spanish.

Balance is quickly restored with the realization that Tina still knows everything.

The teams arrive at Moonlight Motors to a Roadblock! One member of each team must help INDIA'S taxi system go green by literally helping to paint a taxi green. Anywhere on the taxi that is yellow (inside and out) must be covered up with newsapaper, so that anywhere on the taxi that is black can be painted green. The following team members perform:

Starr
Andrew
Toni
Kelly
Sarah
Ken

During the entire task, Terrence constantly berates Sarah. Other teams note that Terrence puts constant pressure on Sarah to be perfect during the task. On the opposite side of that coin, Tina constantly berates Ken for being too perfect during the task. Finally at her boiling point, Sarah threatens Terrence with the thought of swapping places for the rest of the race with Tina. Terrence suddenly becomes supportive. Ken overhears, remembers his punishment from his last partnership without Tina and quickly shifts into overdrive, ultimately picking up two places in the finish order.

DanDrew finish first. *crickets* Starr is second, Toni third, Ken fourth, Kelly fifth, and Sarah last.

Clue: Make your way to the Ambassador Hotel and search the grounds for the INDIAN doorman.

Detour: Launder Money or Launder Clothing

Launder Money: Teams must make their way to a Banquet Hall where they will create a traditional wedding necklace using 10 of their own Rupees (which must add up to the sum of $780). Prior to the U. S. Financial Bailout, $780 Rupees would equal $16.327 U. S. dollars. Today one would be lucky to purchase an item from McDonald's Value Menu. Once the necklace is complete, the teams must make their way through the wedding crowds to find a groom and exchange the necklace for a clue.

Launder Clothes: Teams must make their way to a local laundry and, using a traditional charcoal iron, iron 20 pieces of clothing in accordance with their laundry lady's standards.

Nick & Starr, DanDrew, Kelly & Christy (who translate Launder Money as having to take another groom), and Toni & Dallas all opt for Launder Clothes. Terrence & Sarah and Ken & Tina decide they haven't thrown enough money away in INDIA on useless cab drivers and opt for Launder Money.

The irons are extremely hot, making it difficult to handle with the bare hand. Nick & Starr whip out their own gloves. Other teams use miscellaneous laundry items to cover their hands. DanDrew struggle through yet another hand job, further complicated by the wind blowing all of their completed, folded clothes onto the ground.

Terrence & Sarah and Ken & Tina initially struggle with the Rupee exchange but then manage to complete the necklace assembly. They dance through the crowd (cue visual), find the groom, exchange the necklace and make their way to the Pit Stop.

Pit Stop: Bahai House, where the last team to arrive may be eliminated. The teams finish in the following order:

Nick & Starr - each win electric cars, which were likely painted by the teams earlier in the race
Kelly & Christy
Toni & Dallas
Terrence & Sarah
DanDrew - again
Ken & Tina are the last team to arrive but are saved by the first Non-Elimination round of the season. Phil informs them that, on the next leg, they will encounter a speed bump - a task that only they must complete.

I apologize for the delay. In spite of election results, a computer crash, and a distracting five year-old, only one bottle of wine was harmed during the writing of this summary

I also victimized a bottle of wine during this week's TAR. Somehow it made Tina and Terence bearable. Thanks for the summary. My favorite line: Prior to the U. S. Financial Bailout, $780 Rupees would equal $16.327 U. S. dollars. Today one would be lucky to purchase an item from McDonald's Value Menu.

There's something wrong with the TAR theme being used that way.

The Elaine video reminded me of a site I used to visit years ago.
http://www.zefrank.com/invite/swfs/index2.html

The official language is not Spanish.
You know, I noticed that too. Huh.

LOL @ Terence and Tina having to be partners.

Great job!

They really haven't given us much to work with this year. It's depressing.

Brokenhearted in green and gold.
