"the end of this dat phan business"
I want to put an end to all of this "I respect Dat Phan" crap.
The show is called Last Comic Standing. The premise is to choose a very funny, if not the funniest, person. The person you should be rooting for is the one who makes you laugh the most, the one who you wouldn't mind hanging around for a healthy chuckle. Now honestly, how long can you last listening to a comic who will do nothing but spout words in a crappy Asian accent?

I thought Dat was funnier than Dave.

I don't think Vos is funny at all... on stage or off.

So, by your own reasoning, I should be rooting for Dat Phan (or anyone else) to just plain whip Vos' (comedic) @$$, n'est pas?!?!

Dude.

Seriously.

Think about it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I agree. Good for you.

BUT

Dat Phan being more funny than Dave Mordal... i felt the same way when people said they liked American Beauty over Fight Club (they came out around the same time). They said Fight Club was too rough.

I mean. They CAN be BOTH considered good movie. But... seriously.

Dude.

Come on.

Think about it.

You'd NEVER watch Dat's show. Seinfeld HIMSELF was hated by "focus groups" and whatever the fvck else! Come on dude! I know you're a cool guy. YOU'RE WRONG THIS TIME!

Korean Nail Salon?

Korean NAIL SALON!!!??!??

Please...

Well, opinions about humor don't necessarily have a "right" and "wrong". Different people have different tastes.

First of all, I didn't think Dave was funny at virtually any time. He wasn't funny while living in the house, he wasn't funny (IMHO) in his routines. I was surprised he made the top 10, and I was, frankly, surprised he beat out Sean in the first elimination competition.

If you like him and his humor, fine. I won't call you "wrong", but I disagree with ya about Dave.

For the record, I didn't think Dat Phan's routine last night was all that funny. He started off great, but then the "my mother" routines got... well, routine. I was hoping to see more of the Kung-Fu physical humor, but Dat held that back.

And, last but certainly not least, Dat provided us with the most enjoyable moment of this entire series: the look on Vos' face when Dat won and Dave lost. That ALONE was worth the price of admission.

I have to agree with you. This is a show about stand-up comedy. It's not a show about how funny you are around the house or how well you can iron your pants or how nice a guy you are and want to change the world.

It's about who can get the most laughs out of the audience. That's why you go to the Comedy Club and pay your cover charge plus two drink minimum.

Dave Mordal is a funny guy. He might, as Vos says, be a brilliant comedy writer. He just didn't play to the audience the way Dat did. And that's what this whole thing is all about.

I thought Dat was actually funnier in his auditions than he was last night. But he is a charismatic performer. I think Tess is as well, although we haven't seen her in a head-to-head.

But Ralphie is the only one who truly cracks me up.

Really? Ralphie gets on my nerves more quickly than any of them. So far, he has just taken the "white guy from the hood" routine and stretched it to the breaking point. He seems to think he's starring in "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids - the Lost White Episodes".

I'm still waiting for something original from Ralphie. His act has been done!

Y'know, I normally don't like the wannabe types either, but there is just something about Ralphie that cracks me up. Can't explain it. I guess he kinda reminds me of Eddie Murphy, back before all the lame movies.

Humor is one of the most subjective things in the world. It's interesting to see one person love a particular comic's stuff and another think nothing about that comic is funny.

I loved Dave Mordal's stuff. I thought Dat had a good set, but I just prefer the low-key comics. Dave has that dry, sardonic humor that appeals to me.

The problem I had with Dat is that he basically took one joke and stretched it throughout the set. That wears thin awfully quickly.

70%? Puleeeze!

The 70% is very low compared to the 85% or so that previous winners had been winning by. I expected closer results in every single contest so far.

8. "RE: the end of this dat phan business"
personally I think they're all funny in there own way,

Dat, a bit out there, and an odd ball, but still a decent comic

dave, great to watch around tbe house, interacting with the others, on stage, not so good.

rich, same as dave.

tess, an all around funny person, a contagious laugh

cory, a bit less funny then the others, but she is still a good comic

ralpie, he's a bit odd too, but the way he'll just sit there through almost anything is priceless.

geoff, I don't have an opinion on him, because we haven't seen much of him.

so, stop the argueing, root for who ever you like, but don't say someone else's opinion is wrong.

Personally, I think Ralphie and Dat are the only two who really clued in to what they are there to do. Game aspects aside, the professional comics should be there for the national exposure the program nets for them. Dat may have just fallen into it, by being the butt of the house joke, but he's gotten a lot of good air time out of it. Ralphie is clearly playing to the camera (viewing audience) as much as he can, has been from the get go. The others seem to have gotten mired in the "game" or whatever, but that too has its funny aspects.
