"Last Comic Standing"
This was an AWESOME show.

I loved it and laughed my butt off. The 20 going to Las Vegas are going to make some tough competition, and it should be a REALLY good season.

I was wondering though, Paul Mercurio and Rich Vos (from the New York semifinals) are already comics who have had mild success. Rich Vos has been on Colin Quinn's show, "Tough Crowd", and Paul Mercurio has done work with "The Daily Show". Any need to be on this show?

Otherwise, I thought the show was GREAT!! Tough to pick an favorite, but Dat Phan really sticks out in my head. Along with Richie(?)... the REALLY fat guy. The first woman in New York, Carmen, she was REALLY funny too, but otherwise, the comedy on this show was great and I cannot wait for next week!!

I agree, this was an awesome show, and after so many "lame" reality shows (which I watch anyway) there is finally one I can not feel so guiltly about!

I agree about the fat guy, I was screaming! I'm from Los Angeles originally and his line about being from a scary part of Los Angeles...."LOS ANGELES".... was just perfect. I liked the Vietnamese kid too....almost seems like he's being set up as the winner/top five with all the face time? I did NOT like the chick with all the little ponytails though.

Missed the east coasters, but since the first episode was mainly a weed-out, I'll be sure to watch next week.

I was worried at first because there is almost nothing worse than a bad comic. But they were all pretty good and I enjoyed. It's going to be interesting seeing what happens when you have 10 comics all in the same house.

Now that you've said it's awesome, I'll give it a shot. I didn't want to watch it because, like AZLeo, it's too painful watching bad comics and I figured that's what these people would be. I'll have to check it out next week. DH will probably want to watch it also.

I too felt the same way. Watching a bad comic is like getting a root canal, but I was very impressed and look forward to next weeks show!

LOVED: They put up captions so you could see what the judges were whispering to each other.

Also thought it was interesting that Rich Vos was on there, I have seen him on Comedy Central (BEST.CHANNEL.EVER) not only on Tough Crowd but on Presents as well.

Didn't Rich Vos look a little freaked out at the end though? He just bothers me so much on Tough Crowd, I would have loved to have seen him not make it to the finals, that and because I hate his teeth.

I watched both shows and was quite pleased. I don't understand why the girl with the bleach-blonde porcupine head made it, but the other finalists were funny.

In addition to the folks already mentioned (loved the fat guy's Fear Factor comments), the midwestern girl that Buddy Hackett said would be a star cracked me up. During the east coast show, my favorite was the guy from Minnesota who was a recovering workaholic.

Bebo, I couldn't agree more about Dave Mordal, the guy from Minnesota. Even if he doesn't win this thing, I bet the networks will be fighting over signing this guy. His secluded, loner life on a Minnesota farm and petty crime background has sitcom written all over it.

I thought it was a quality show too. I'm just wondering if they are going to have theme weeks too. You know "the diffrence between men and women week" "what's the deal with ... week" etc.
If they brought their "A" material to the audition, what do they have left?

9. "RE: Last Comic Standing"
I doubt that they're going to have theme weeks. After all, each comic brings his/her experiences into their acts, and it wouldn't work to limit them to a particular topic.

Good comics have more than one batch of "A" material. The ones who have staying power can continue to find humorous material to add to their basic act, while the one-shot deals can become obvious. I used to be related to a stand-up comedian (by marriage). He had some funny material. Problem was that he was still trying to use that material 2 years later. That's why he's still opening at lower-level clubs, instead of moving up the ladder.
