"What is it about Amy?"
What is it about Amy that everyone is willing to take themselves out of the quest for the ultimate reward? I mean they are all willing to kick themselves off rather than her....I don't see it do you?

I totally agree with you! Especially when she is saying that she does not want to stay and then they keep her around. Then Desiree says that she does not hold anything against Melanie for making then decision...she didn't even give her a chance!!

I am just dumbfounded that after Amy's 1st outbreak against Keith, she is still there. She has another thing coming to her if she doesn't think she is going to get some slack from People once the show is over.....I wonder if her and braveheart are together

Regarding Desiree comment: I know! Desiree is so stupid... And I think that tonight's episode had a clear fear of rejection theme: first Amy decides she would rather go than let one of her friends go; then Melanie chooses Dave; and Desiree takes a bullet for Amy; and Holly finishes it off with her insecurity about her relationship with Scott. BTW, I'm not sure, but did Scott say something to Holly like, "our 'relationship,' if you can call it that"?

Yes, I think you've nailed this one right on the head, sbeck.

Amy, Melanie, and Desiree almost dropped like flies in their efforts to save face and become "martyrs" (by eliminating themselves instead of having someone not choose them) Bleccch!

Zach is William Wallace and Amy is F-ing Joan of Arc. Please!

I dunno, but she scares the sh!t out of me, and she's only on my TV. I can't imagine being around her in person. Maybe they are all afraid to cross her in any way. She is pretty intimidating.

It seems clear to me that Scott prefers the company of D/K/C/T, but I'm sure he's too afraid to cross the other "originals", to do anything about it.

I think Scott is sort of trying to play neutral so he doesn't make any enemies. I think it's all part of his strategy to win.

Is it just me, or are Holly's boobs really annoying? She also needs to stop wearing so much shiny eyeshadow. Amy wears it too. It's so skanky! Sorry, sweetie, make-up will never make you look good. There's no hope for you. P.S.- HIP HUGGERS ARE NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH GUTS THAT HANG OUT! NEITHER ARE HORIZONTAL STRIPES.

If the Charbies were evil and conniving like the originals, they would try to trick Holly into hating Scott.

It seems like Scott is trying to make Holly hate Scott. One thing about this guy. He's treated all the women the same way. Holly just happens to be the first one he's sucked face with but he treats her no differently than he did Charla, Toni and wasn't there someone else that tried to suck on his face before. I'm telling ya, that boy aint right.

Seeing that Scott does not show favortism to either side might be the biggest clue to his character. Not willing to state his feelings clearly he would rather give clues to what he is really thinking. With this in mind perhaps his preference in partners is as guarded as what is behind his forehead. This might be in line with "something ain't right with the boy". Shakes the Clown may have something there after all.

LAST EDITED ON 09-16-03 AT 08:07 PM (EST)

Her eyeshadow wouldn't be so bad if it matched her skin tone better. She and Amy always use shades that pop out so much, you can't help but notice it. And Amy looks even bigger this week than she did last week, doesn't she? In the scenes from Wed's episode, she looks like Moby #####! And those faces she makes are beyond ugly!

Edited to add:
I've been censored, but in case anyone's wondering, I'm comparing Amy to that famous titular white whale of Melville's book, because she's so pale and so large comparedto when she arrived.

This girl needs some more toppings on her face doesn't she?
What's with her going off on her triumphant speech which left her in drizzly tatters about friends and how she would leave before letting a friend go. Where was her loyalty? She easily didn't put up a fight when Undesireed volunteered(now that was retarded). Then again who can blame her! Yeeeeeeeehaaaa!

Isn't it incredible how many times Amy has claimed she wants to go, or would rather go than have one of her "friends" go? But, she is still there isn't she? I guess her loyalty to her "friends" is not as great as her desire to win. She claims that she is not playing the game, but at every turn she does what it takes for her to stay in it now doesn't she?

This woman has some serious mental problems, I am not joking, there really is something wrong with her.

21. "Editing"
It is all about the editing. The poster known as true stated in the spoiler thread that the producers are swinging this show to an outcome that they desire.

The originals are continually edited as the "bad" guys while the Barbie group is edited as "saintly". The catch to that though is the fact that the originals such as Zach, Amy and Foni have given them sooooo much material to work with. Amy and Zach most certainly have some serious life problems that will need to be resolved once in the real world.

The only glimmer of nicness that I saw in Amy was while she was talking to Melanie about Scott. BUT I think the producers wanted us to see more of Melanie because she was the one going home. Their intention was not to soften us to Amy.

My opinion of Desiree from the start was that she was just a follower with no clue about anything. She just went along with the "cool" group, more than likely, because she is a lemming in real life as well.

As someone stated previously, Amy must be extremely intimidating in person. I truly cannot understand why people keep "sacrificing" themselves for her.

We are being set up for a Charla and Dave win. The editing has been so clearly towards their favor it is almost sickening to watch.

The most telling thing about Amy's character is that even though she said in the bedroom that she 1) didn't care if she won 2) didn't care if she left and 3) would never go against her friends....when Desiree threw herself on the sword for Amy, Amy did not step up to return the favor.

What did Amy say? Not, take me instead. Not, I've been saying I wanted to leave so just pick me. No, she said "LET HER PICK."

Nice. Not only does she not step up for Desiree, she doesn't try to lessen the load for Melanie. And these are supposed to be her close friends.

23. "RE: What is it about Amy?"
I think it is is so funny that last night she kept saying that she is already a winner..blah blah blah..

I think LAmy lives in her own little delusional world: LAmy Land. Maybe all of her "friends" live in that land also. It just doesn't look like any place I want to visit.

If she wants to leave to be with Zackass why the he!! is she still there? Why wont she leave already???
Also what is up with Keith? He wasn't really shown last night, they said he was sick..sick of all the bullsh@# I'm sure.

I'm seeking professional help to learn why I am so addicted to this show when I really despise most of the people on it. I can't wait for it to be over, but then I'll have to find something new to complain about!!!

My biggest laugh was at the end when Amy says something like "It's always the good ones that have to leave" (fake cry) - Well, Amy, if you are still on the show, what does that say about you?

The vote off seems to go in a predictable format of someone willing to take a bullet for Amy, because she has been through so much, then Amy acts like she might leave but stays quiet when push comes to shove.

If Amy does ever leave, I predict her goodbye speech will be something like "I'm already a winner because of how I played the game and all the friends I have. I've done so much more than anyone in the world ever has. I'll see everyone next year at Paradise Hotel II."

I see Amy having a reality that's similar to the Anna Nicole Smith reality show - Very sad with no clue to reality.

25. "Lamy's reverse psychology"
Am I just that much of a cynic by now?

Or did Amy's "friendship sacrifice" speech seem like she was setting the bar (like toni) for what "friends" should do for each other, guilting them into feeling the same way and sending the subconscious message "if you don't sacrifice yourself like I would, then you're not cool and we won't hang out with you after the show and no one will think you honorable".

The reason why the dummies go along with it:
1. peer pressure, big deal to the highschooler-like Orig's
2. Political: Let's support the candidate (from Our party) whom we think has the best chance of winning this primary election, no matter what kind of morals/behavior this person has.
3. IT's better than the Barbies winning - they can't have that.
4. Looking good on tv is better than winning some measley prize that they haven't even announced yet.
5. Desiree just couldn't stand petting the Smokey - anymore.

That's an interesting assessment. I didn't think of that because I don't give Amy that much credit for having the brains to actually conspire to help herself win.

She's pretty much lucked into where she's at, IMO.

Her voice could be damaged from too much cheering. If she cheered all the way from youth football (they can start as young as 5 years old) to her current gig in Arena Football, she could have damaged her vocal cords from all the yelling and screaming. Or she could just be a shrew who yells and screams at everybody and has damaged her vocal cords...

I believe the entire show is scripted. Why else would anyone give up their position? we are being setup for a good vs evil ending. Amy and Beau vs Charla and Dave. Amy can't leave! That is why Des took the fall. It was in the script.

I totally agree!!!!
Fux is setting this show up to have a very dramatic ending. Amy/? against one of the couples from the fab4 group would be the most dramatic ending. I hope Good Triumphs over Evil!

The show is scripted and WE ARE JOE SCHMOE...lol...

ok maybe not but yeah of course the producers are working things behind the scenes. They have all the control with their twists and turns and can manipulate at will. This week they'll give something back to the orginHo lovers to keep them watching and then the rest of us will watch next week because we know that good has to triumph over stupidity. The originhos are idiots and mean but I hesitate to call anyone evil.

AGREE! with your sentiments.

But I only meant the evil part in a literal sense. Just an expression.

I don't think it's Amy's fault. Did I just write that? Remember these people BELIEVE that Amy DESERVES this "prize", which I hope is leaveing paradise forever, (who could ask for more). They PROBABLY felt that she hasn't got anything else going for her, she must deserve to win.

I mean really, what is she going home to, that same old town, the new loser boyfriend, a cheer squad that was bum-rushed with hate mail that probably won't allow her to try out again...

Looks like she deserves a big...bowl of cereal for that.
