"Joe Mill.. Gold Diggers!"
Wow, this show makes women for the most part look horrible! NEat show though. Evan seems like a deer in the headlights. And cute as he is, is that a lazy eye?

I'll keep watching.

Oh, and, how dare that girl say that the very pretty Zora (is that right? a Z name) has "a different 'type' of body" insinuating that she is fat. She looks great!

Agree CG,

I don't know how he made it through that episode. If it was not for the fact that he barely talks to the girls yet and glazes over when they ask him questions, he would blow his cover. Hopefully as he gets used to "deceiving these women" he will get more comforatable with it, but as the show showed, he is going to get more upset with it as he finds out he likes some of them, and is lying to them.

And whats with the butler guy and the woman, She comes off as cold as a robot, and he is just creepy IMO.

Oh well any other thoughts on this show.

Also isn't it funny how many ladies said they wanted a go getter who was finacially sound and made lots of money and had ambition. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

I recognize her as the original host for the TLC program Trading Spaces. I think she only lasted the first season before being replaced. She wasn't much livelier then either.

I thought the toady butler was hilarious. It looks like he is channeling Alastair Cooke's introductions of the original Masterpiece Theater series on PBS. He is sitting by a similar fire, in a wingback chair with books behind him while he does his intro & conclusion pieces--just like Alastair did. Only thing--Alastair was smart & good-looking. Toad is neither.

Then in the segment where he taught Joe how to use a fork and drink from a glass, he seemed to channel Henry Higgins teaching Eliza Doolittle how to behave like a lady. I wish they had used 'The Rain in Spain' for background music there.

I think he is very funny, but not intentionally so which is probably why it works for me.

The Trading Spaces woman, Alex McCloud is her name I think, as den mother for the Golddiggers really caught me by surprise. I hope she remembered to bring her 'Alex Cam', so that when Joe finally starts to do the women (20 women in 24 days--is that right?)(instead of 2 rooms in 2 days) we can get nice close-ups of the action.

LOL Swami. I said the same thing to Mr. L8 last night while we were watching it.

Duh Evan, salmon is fish!!! I guess he thought that since it's pink and not white that makes a difference.LMAO

Evan is pretty cute, and it was worth every bit of my viewing time wasted just to see the shot of him in his boxers!

Edited to change his name from Joe to Evan. I guess I should call him what everyone else does. Evan Elder Wallace--is that right?

The when Evan asked him what foie gras was he just gave him a long, unreadable look without answering. Some things just aren't worth explaining to a bumpkin, I guess.

I kept wondering why they bothered changing his last name. I mean, they told us his name, so it's not a secret or anything, so why give this guy one more thing to remember?

I, too, loved the butler after Evan said "red" for the salmon... "and what is salmon?"

Doh!

Unlike the Bachelor(s), where the guy has gotten off fairly easy, I have a feeling that Fox will give Evan just as much heat as the women.

Chow,

I was also wondering why they changed his name, then I watched and realized with Bank workers and loan agents on the show, they could possibly call the states and have some friends in the financial world track down his assets or something like that. They may then find out his salary and the fact that no money has come his way IRL.

by keeping his last name a secret, they could not snoop and find out the real story behind his inheritance?

Thoughts.

Alex was booted from Trading Spaces cause she is a biznatch *laughs*. She was constantly whining about not having enough "air time" in front of the camera. She actually left one show in a tizzy and they didn't know if she was going to come back to finish the episode (they were going to have Laurie finish it up if nothing else).

I want to see the women that leave being told he doesn't have money. It would be interesting to see if they are still unhappy about losing. It would make some of them feel like the winners. They got a free trip to France and now they no longer will be made fools of on TV.

Yes, it looks like the found the perfect Prince Charming in Evan. However, the lessons could have lasted longer than a week. He really could have used the extra horseback and dancing lessons. I don't think many of the girls are "clasy" enough to know if he is using the correct fork or not, but I guess that knowledge will be used on the "dates."

The funniest parts are when Even admits that he does not know how to do things and that he feels like an idiot, but all the women keep saying that he is so smooth!!

This really is a "fish out of water" situation, not only for him but for the girls too. I believe this is why the whole "Chateau" charade is being used. It is all part of the deception. By taking everyone to France a lot of opportunities to investigate are eliminated - cell phones (those that belong to the participants) won't work. The Chateau may not even have land phone lines! I think this is also the reason to eliminate so many contestants early - less chance to compare notes and discover the lie.

As to Evan being a little uncomfortable with the "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous", I think that is the brilliant part of the "I recently inherited the money" scheme. If he makes the occasional goof (like the horse) he becomes all the more "endearing" - more like the "common folk" that the girls are! I'm really interested to see how this plays out.

I agree with you that it makes these women look very horrible and like a bunch of gold diggers, but I also think it looks not too good for the men too.

It shows that guys have no problem lying to women to get them to pay attention to them. That is just as shallow. I think it is sad the whole time he is going on and on about how he wants one of them to see past the money and like him for him. Well, a woman like that would more than likely drop his not for being poor, but for lying to them. If they see past the rich, what is left? A liar.

To me it seems that this show is taking advantage of this seemingly, well, dim bulb and are explotiing him as much as they are the women.

Yes, but what if Paul the Butler or Alex the Host comes out and says to the finalist, "we told him to pretend to be a multi-millionaire?" Surely the girl wouldn't hold it against him as a liar knowing he was told to play that role... but the question is, would they step up to tell the girl? I don't think so, at least not on the show itself or until well after Evan is left to get slapped in the face, so to speak.

Another thought... what's going to stop Evan from blurting out at the moment of truth that he's told to play a role, don't shoot the messenger - other than the threat of a lawsuit?

I guess my point was that a girl that would be interested in him as a person would feel betrayed in the sense that she would not feel that she knew him. You are right, he is playing a role therefore, the girls never get to know the "real" him. The get to know the role he is playing. It is a no win situation and I think Evan does not have a clue.

I'll be shocked if he can keep it up for long. How long do you think before the producers make him wear an ear piece so they can feed him lines to avoid that middle name fiasco again?

Anybody know how they found this guy? I can see how any of these women would jump at the chance for public humiliation. But where did they find 'Lil Abner? Gotta say he's perfect for the role. Cute as a button, disarmingly shy and unpretentious. Wonder who we'll be more disgusted with at the end of this 21 car pileup? The women who think they're competing for the biggest bucks they'll ever have a chance at. Or Mr. Prince/Pauper who will be lying through his teeth to every one of them.
