"Zora's location comments"
I have to give kudos to my stepdaughter for catching this one. It may be a spoiler, it may mean nothing. I'm not sure, that's why I'm throwing it out here for you all to chew on.

On Monday's show while the girls were in the dining room chatting about who would win and why, Zora made a comment about how she thought Sarah would win because she lived in LA, and that was closer to Evan. That's when Sarah went on to say that if he didn't like either of them, he would probably choose the one that lives further away so as not to interact as much.

Now correct me if I'm, wrong, but aren't the girls supposed to believe that Evan lives in this French estate that they've been filming at? Whenever they've mentioned the estate, the girls have always gone on and on about how they could get used to living here. If that's the case, why would Zora know that Evan lives in SoCal.?

Well, are we crazy? Or is there something here?

I don't have any recorded tapes to refer to but for some reason, I thought the chateau was one of his houses, understanding he lived in states as well.

Good point though, I don't recall any specific mention of his California homes.

I think you're right, this was a slip-up. But it can also be explained: Evan could easily have told them that he lived in L.A. before inheriting the money, and still has a residence there.

But, if you think about it, I don't recall it being mentioned by Evan that this mansion was indeed his home! I'm sure they probably knew that Fox was renting it. The "I could love to live here" type comments are certainly for the camera, or just wishful-thinking throwaway lines.

In the first episode, Evan specifically told some girls he lives in California. When asked where he lives (by one of the first rejected girls, I believe), he hedged and said he was between places.

I don't recall any instance when they were told the place was his. And quite frankly, living in France, a socialist country, with very high taxes, etc. 50 million would not be enough to pay for that place, IMO. If the chateau was considered part of the 50 million, then he would probably use up the rest of that money to pay for the land taxes, etc.

And the girls also did not know he inherited 50 million prior to going on the show. That was introduced once they got there. I think they just assumed it was his, and he did little to discourage this at the beginning.

I do recall the I'm between places comment and the I lived/live in California part though.

Good point though.

"50 million would not be enough to pay for that place, IMO."

Normally, I am just a lurker and have never actually posted anything, but I just wanted to make one quick comment.

$50 million would buy ALOT of property in France (owning a house in southwest France has been a dream of mine for a long time). just the other day, I found a house that was unbelievable. 30 bedrooms, vineyard, etc. for less than $1 million. but I digress.

now I know this information is probably not common knowledge (I mean, who actually checks out the real estate market in France? - besides myself)

and Evan's chateau is actually a rental. You can get a room there for about $250 a night.

To be honest, I wouldn't have been interested in Evan, but I would tried my darnedest to stay, just for the countryside, the wine and the food (except that meal with melissa).

Totally unrelated to Joe Millionaire: I love checking out Europe's real estate too. When I had a job (layoff at Christmas, sniff), that was one of my "break" activities. Found great land in Italy too!

Real estate is much cheaper in France than in Southern Cal, for example. A lot of the "petits chateaux" there (I don't have the exact specs on this location but have narrowed it down to Loire Valley, central France, 200 kilometers south of Paris) are renovated and turned into B&Bs.

Income taxes are quite high, and there is a sales tax and luxury tax as well. However, the socialised programs make it a very good country to work and retire in. French get 6 weeks paid vacation, 60 years old retirement age, medical, dental, vision plans and state paid pensions. There many other benefits I won't go into.

However the trade for all those goodies is that as a French citoyen you must develop acute cynicism, a sense of superiority mixed with low self esteem (imagine a narcissist with an inferiority complex), the ability to win any debate on any topic even if you know you are wrong, all this with a .30 blood alcohol level.
