I watched Law & Order all the time when Ben Stone was EADA. When Stone decided to quit the show, I was sure that it was going to tank, even though Claire Kincaid and Lennie Briscoe had joined and were a vast improvement from their predecessors (though I liked Max Greevy in the first season). But then we met Jack McCoy.IMO, McCoy was the best EADA, and McCoy and Kincaid were the best prosecuting team. However, the next best team was Stone and Kincaid, then Stone and Robinette, because Jamie Ross (Carey Lowell) can't act at all, and Abbie Carmichael (Angie Harmon) is almost as inept. <For the majority of you who have not had to take children to see Agent Cody Banks, let me say that Angie Harmon still has a great body but zero talent; both Frankie Munoz and Hilary Duff are far superior actors despite only being teens.> Adam Schift seemed a lot like the kind of person who would become a DA in NYC. Nora Lewin did not. Unfortunately, neither does Arthur Branch so far. The "second detective" is a harder choice. Each of these characters contributed something different to the show. Mike Logan was the avenging angel. Rey Curtis was a young hustler. Ed Green is more of an "average" cop. It doesn't really matter which of them is on the show, because Briscoe is the focal point.

ADA - Jack McCoy Assistants - Claire Kincaid DA - Adam Schift Det - Older Lennie Briscoe. Oh how I love this guy! He is the main reason I watch! What a fabulous character and a terrific actor! Det - Younger I loved Mike Logan, but Ed Green is growing on me I never watched this show until about 2 years ago through syndication. My bedtime routine is all messed up if I don't get to see Law & Order at 10 each night. I am totally addicted! I also love SVU.......Criminal Intent I can't stomach, that Vincent D'Onfrio guy makes me want to hurl, he is just way too smug.
MM Why do we kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong?

ADAs Ben Stone - The main reason I loved this show and was so afraid the show would tank once he was gone.Assistants Paul Robinette - always so smooth and knew exactly what he was doing DAs Adam Schift - solid and well versed in the law Det--older guy Phil Ceretta - I'm thinking this is Paul Sorvino, just thought he was way cool Det--younger guy Mike Logan - had that smoldering, seething, teeming...
The original & CI are must sees. I don't like SVU as much because of the type of cases but will watch it over anything else.

I didn't think I would like CI as much as the original since my favorite part is the legal drama in the courtroom. I chuckle sometimes because Det. Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) seems to know every psychosis that exists. He is both cop & psychiatrist on this show. I love when Det. Eames (Kathryn Erbe) plays the bad cop, strong female characters are never bad. Don't they remind you of Mulder & Scully?

Love this show, but for me it is all about the story and not the characters. It is so well written, and I love to watch how all the clues fall together.Agree about Angie Harmen AK, I did see that movie and she was terrible. Her clevage was doing all the acting for her. (and what was up with all the boob shots of her in a kid movie?)

>Agree about Angie Harmon AK, I did see that movie and >she was terrible. Her cleavage was doing all the acting >for her. (and what was up with all the boob >shots of her in a kid movie?) Good question. And that wasn't the only thing wretchedly out-of-place. The entire scene with the CIA trying to teach Cody about women? ARRRRRRRRGH! I think the movie director must have been aiming the plot at 11 and 12-year-old boys. But my kids (7 and 5-year-old girls) didn't mind at all. They didn't even remember the scene after the movie --- they were too focused on waiting for "Lizzie McGuire" to show up again to notice anything else.

They must have pretty awesome casting agents on this show, because it has survived cast changes even when I, a devouted fan, was prepared to give up.When Ben Stone left I thought is was over. However, I like Jack McCoy even better. His turmoil, conscience, anger, smugness...they are all feelings the audience shares with him. I really liked Robinette, except when he came back as a defense attorney. I also liked Kincaid. Jill Hennessey and I were in a beauty pageant together in Canada many years ago together so we're tight man. Okay, maybe not tight, but I really enjoyed her as the uptight Assistant. Not too happy with anyone since then. Wish L&A would get that smart blonde from SVU. Like her. Like Briscoe, but liked him better before he had a few too many trips to the plastic surgeon. Somehow, I think cheeks look better when they are in the middle of you face as opposed to somewhere near your eyebrows! LOVED Curtis. Not because he was HOT.HOT.HOT or HOT.HOT.HOT but because he was so passionate about everything. Green hasn't developed the way I was hoping. Also like both shrinks and both captains, but prefer VanBuren. Schiff was by far the best DA. I was really hoping he would stick around for the long haul.

ADAs Jack McCoy although it took a long time for me to warm up to him. I couldn't stand him at first. Assistants Claire Kincade I really liked Robinette, but the show needed a woman IMO. Claire was a great addition. Serena is second just because Jamie and Abbey are horrible. DAs Adam Schift perfect for that role. > >Det--older guy Lennie Briscoe love him! Det--younger guy Mike Logan his hotness carries him on to victory. Didn't like Rey; Ed is kinda bland. This has to be the job for the best looking guys on TV. all three of them are so deee-licious!

This is one of my favorite shows on TV! I must admit that I didn't start watching it until Jack McCoy was the ADA.ADAs Jack McCoy Assistants Claire Kincade-IMHO nobody can compete with Jill Hennessy.(Sp DAs Adam Schift Det--older guy Lennie Briscoe-I didn't watch when the other two were on, but the actor who plays him is great. He's one of the reasons I watch the show. Det--younger guy
Rey Curtis-I'm assuming this is Benjamin Bratt. I remember thinking that he didn't have a chance at surviving on the show from the Mike Logan character, however my mind was quickly changed in just a few episodes. A Kyngsladye Original

This was pretty easy - with the exception of 'young detective', all of whom I truly enjoyed.ADA - McCoy, he is just creepy and I like that. Stone was mostly good, sometimes delivery was a little monotonous. Assistant - Robinette with Kincaide coming in a close second DA - my favorite character aside from Briscoe is Schiff. I love his lines. I was so sad when he left the show! Older detective - Briscoe. But I also liked Greevy and his whole storyline. Younger detective - character-wise I'll go with Curtis. I just liked the interactions he had with the other characters. Acting wise I'd easily chose Jesse L. Martin (Ed Green) though (and he's gorgeous!). But Logan had the most developed storyline so it's hard to choose. Overall, I'd go with Curtis.

I am such a dork. Every time the show comes on, I HAVE to say "In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two seperate but equally important groups: the police who investigate crimes and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories" along with the 'narrator'. And on top of that, I have to sit there and make the transition noise each and every time as well (you know that little "dun dun" between 'scenes'). Oh brother...am I lame or what?
