"American Idol should be boycotted"
This show needs a rude awakening. I believe the producers are rigging the votes to grab more attention and spark controversy. There is no logical reason or excuse at to why LaToya was voted off and Jasmine remains. I refuse to believe that people are actually voting for non-talent. But then again, it seems all you need to get ahead are looks these days. Talent seems to no longer be a requirement. If Jasmine goes on to win American Idol, the show will lose not only me as a regular viewer but many others who actually have an ear and eye for true talent. Diana and Fantasia and LaToya had what it takes. Even if they don't win the title, they still will have very far to go in their careers. Look at Clay, Kimberly Locke, and Tamyra Gray.
I hope that race is not a factor but if it was I am not surprised by that either!

I agree......Fantasia and Diana are good. But Jasmine should not have even been in the top 200. Tonight is the last night that Fox can count me as an American Idol viewer.

Jasmine, barring an obscene amount of bias, is the 6th best singer in the competition, although 5th and maybe 4th could be argued. I'd take Diana, LaToya, Fantasia (And I am anti-Fantasia usually), George, and Jennifer over her, and I am sure most people would.

I agree with you mostly but JPL is a better singer than Jasmine, he didn't sing out of tune everytime he opened his mouth.

If I wanted to go to a concert, I'd take JPL over Jasmine, but I know not many people share the opinion of preferring JPL to Jas, so I left him out. Heck, I put him second (I think) in my PTTE, and of course I think I am near the B3, but that is beside the point.

JPL!! You must be kidding! He's an idiot! He has no talent, no rhythm, and no dance moves whatsoever!! Plus, he's not even good looking! He had nothing going for him & I just don't understand how he even lasted as long as he did! Check your ears!

It'd be nice if you could honor the opinion of another person. If I had to pay x amount of dollars to see a concert and my two choices were JPL or Jasmine, I'd choose JPL because I find him more entertaining.

The only thing that needs to be understood is not everyone likes the same thing, what you think sounds good, might sound like crap to me and vice versa, it's what makes us all individuals.I don't think you were asking me but I'm going to answer anyway. What I find entertaining about JPL: He's funny, he has charisma, I like his voice, and I like his style.

Wanna know something interesting? Bashing's not allowed here. And it's even a worse idea to bash a moderator.

If you're wondering who the moderators are, look for the little blue icons next to their names. You'll find one next to the guy you just bashed.

ETA: A reminder to all posters on the forum - it's been said many times recently, but it needs to be said again. When a guideline has been violated, hit alert and leave it to the moderators. There's no need to add your own little comments.

Now, general observation time, but am I the only one noticing the massive influx of Jasmine supporters who only post to support Jasmine (also before this, Camille to a lesser extent). Did Hawai'i just get internet access now?

Now on a specific note, "talented & beautiful" applied to any of the 4 left (And George previously), although talent and beauty are subjective. Of course, there are different degrees of talent and beauty. Sure, perfume is perfume, but if one is Chanel #5 (I believe), and one is musk of cow (exaggeration), there is a difference.

Yes Hawaiian girls are beautiful - some of them anyway - but what does that have to do with anything? Jasmine has a pleasant voice but sings off-key every week, and Tuesday was the worst she's been. Anyone with half an ear knows that, as did Jasmine obviously.

LAST EDITED ON 05-12-04 AT 11:46 PM (EST)

Skyfel, welcome aboard.

The DAW (Desperate Attention Whore) counter merely tracks how many posts you have made to this web site.

The whole thing is meant humorously, because in a way we are all trying to call attention to ourselves when we post. No one is suggesting you are a whore in the sexual sense. But some of us with high DAW counts might be people with a desperate need for validation. Not me, of course.

The Daw message also includes a label, like Blistex Spokesperson or Peanut Festival Grand Marshall. These various labels reflect actual things reality show contestants did to try to extend their few minutes of fame. So the whole thing is really there to make fun of reality show contestants while also tracking how many posts you have made.

The list:

"0|New Member",
"1|American Cancer Society Spokesperson",
"10|Got Milk? Spokesperson",
"25|Beauty Pageant Celebrity Judge",
"50|Hollywood Squares Square",
"100|Blistex Spokesperson",
"200|Network TV Show Guest Star",
"300|Cooking Show Host",
"400|Daytime Soap Guest Star",
"500|Reality Show Commentator",
"750|Fitness Correspondent",
"1000|Politically Incorrect Guest",
"1250|Beef Jerky Spokesperson",
"1500|Peanut Festival Grand Marshall",
"1750|Herbal Healing Drugs Endorser",
"2000|Roller Coaster Inaugurator",
"2250|Seventeen Magazine Model",
"2500|Survivor-themed Cruise Spokesperson",

"3000|Car Show Celebrity",
"3500|Thong Contest Judge",
"4000|Jerry Springer Show Guest",
"4500|Stuff Magazine Centerfold",
"5000|Playboy Centerfold"

You can find lots of good information in The Help Forum and in our guidelines. You'll find a link at the top of the page.

Again, welcome!

These reality show contestants need a reality check!

TJ,

I just had to write to tell you what a wonderful thing you just did for a "newbie". When I first came here, I simply asked, "Okay, I give up, what's a DAW?" and I was quickly given a snide "Check the guidelines" answer from someone who had been here a rather long time. This was, of course, before the moderators issued a refresher to everyone about being thread police.

As soon as I read this post, from someone with a 2 DAW, I thought it was going to be greeted with a hostile tone, but you came through like a decent person would. Many congrats to you.

I think it was the way I was initiated here that makes me kind of jumpy still, but I see Bebo keeping a good eye on us, and for that, I am also grateful. I've seen some typical first and second posts from "newbies" who NEED to be corrected, but not all of us start that way. (some of us screw up later! haha). I can see how it has to wear on everyone, but you just made someone feel welcome, instead of pounced upon for being new.

(We gotta b*tch or we'll explode!)

I have NO IDEA what America is thinking! I voted for Toya 10 times last night. She has been the ABSOLUTE BEST singer since DAY 1 and America is out of their mind if they think that ANY of the remaining 3 girls are one iota better than Latoya London. I am flabbergasted. Totally and completely. I am ready to cry. I cannot believe the results! Very upset.

Anyone would think there was a national catastrophe because people didn't vote for the best singer. Why should they? Why do they have to? Isn't it enough that a person spends their valuable time watching this program, making it one of the most popular and profitable (in ad sponsorship) on TV? Now viewers are ridiculed even if they decide to vote for someone they feel they connect with, or want to encourage or see themselves in. Geez, relax and dont get sucked in with the hype about why certain singers aren't receiving enough votes to get through - it's not your problem. It isn't about race, or talent - and that plea from the station that the contest isn't one for popularity is laughable if it was really a serious competition about musical ability they wouldn't be asking annonymous viewers to vote on who is the best.
So relax enjoy the view but call it for what it is: nothing to do with anything in the real world.

Latoya has a terrific voice and I really thought she would win, but I believe that Simon is to blame for Jasmine getting all the votes. If he wasn't so rude and didn't make her cry I believe she would have been gone too. I firmly believe that Simon causes the votes to go the way they do because of his rudeness. Because people hate Simon more than they do the contestant, they'll vote opposite of him just to tick him off.

Underhanded dealings trying to swing votes? There may be something in that - otherwise we really have to believe that everyone on the show is acting in good faith and we can't do that can we?
Anyway, Simon is an enigma or maybe he's not that mysterious maybe he's just someone that is what-you-see-is-what-you-get: I haven't decided yet. Certainly he is the more honest of all three judges although he can get a bee in his bonnet about somethings: eg the youthfulness of John Stewart, Jasmine and Diana - how on Earth is that a musical critique. What options do they have to improve on that? grow grey hair? get botox? I dunno stupid statement.
One thing I do admire him for is that thumbs up he gave John Stewart, you know the "you've taken every bullet like a man" statement - he should have been more honest though and said "...every bullet I fired at you" but hey that would require real honesty: and honesty and Fox (to paraphase Cowell himself) go together like chocolate icecream and an onion!

I agree. We saw the same thing happen when Simon compared John to Stan Laurel. John didn't cry, but it was an over-the-hill humiliation that no one ever deserved. When we saw Jasmine crying last night, we were pretty sure that would guarantee her a spot in the top 3.

I agree with you one hundred percent and I have been saying that all along to my friends.Simon always points the fingers at the voters but he is the one causing it.I knew those tears were going to work in her favor but I didn't think we would lose the best singer out of all of them I was hoping Fantasia would go home not LaToya. LaToya has her foot in the door now and I am sure some one will pick her up and give her a deal.

I confess, I am part of LaToya's ouster. It was no conspiracy on the part of AI, or racism, or anything sinister at all.

I voted for Diana and Fantasia, several times each. I think that LaToya is a terrific singer, but based on Tuesday's performances alone, I thought the other were more memorable, and voted accordingly.

I admit, I was complacent, thinking that LaToya was going to get plenty of votes from her 'regulars' anyway, and I was SOOO sure that Jas was going home that it didn't really matter who came in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, because they would be back next week and Jasmine would gone.

Remember, events happen on this show due to the general public's votes. These are the same people who vote in political elections throughout the country, so what did you expect? That the public would each research and carefully weigh the merits and demerits of each candidate, compared with the goals and requirements of the position they are running for, and make an intelligent and well-planned decision? Sometimes. But sometimes, uuhhh, they guess, they follow their gut, or they don't bother to vote...

The voting is a disgrace. I'm done with this thing. All I will do now is buy Latoya's music. All the girls where good. (well almost all), but Latoya certainly was not the worse. Maybe the voting should be changed next season to give the public half the vote and the judges the other half. At least that way the contestants with the most talent could win. I was looking forward to seeing Latoya punch in out on the final night. Well I won't miss it now cuz I won't be watching. I hope someone representing the show reads these message boards and understands the this type of voting sours real Idol fans and eventually no one will care to watch. I'm all about a boycot!!!!!

I agree the voting needs to be changed next year or people will stop watching. I think that the judges should be involved in the voting. They could let the public vote but if any contestant receives two of the votes it is an automatic over ride of the votes and they are out. That is the only way I can see this working next year.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I said last night that if Jasmine goes any further in the competition I would never watch the show again. Needless to say, LaToya getting voted off is absolutely ridiculous. I refuse to suffer through another performance from Jasmine Cheeseface again. Not only can she not sing, she is so annoyingly predictable with the stupid flower in her hair and her fake smile and blowing kisses and saying "Thank you guys so much, thank you, thank you!" Puh-lease...Does she HAVE to do that? Who the heck is voting for her, anyway? Word of advice, have your hearing checked. Me saying that she is terrible is an understatement. Its far worse than that.

hahahah Jasmine Cheeseface!!!!

i am ALL FOR boycotting the show. i can't even begin to describe how pissed off i am! i voted for 2 hours last night, for fantasia AND latoya. poor fantasia, i bet she's next to go. obviously there's a pattern here, & i have a feeling she's losing a lot of fans just by latoya going home.

did you see the post about time zones & voting? is it possible that hawaii (or other time zones) can vote prior to the show airing? i was just wondering about that last night. what time does it air in each time zone? Central is at 7pm.

If Fox is available on satellite feed, then it would be possible to live on the west coast and pick up the east coast feed live. Sounds like edt and central(8:00 edt, 7:00 central)air at the same time. Pacific time is 8:00, don't know about Mountain. Assuming Mountain and Pacific are the same, anyone in Hawaii, picking up both live feeds, theoretically has 2 extra chances to vote. Does anyone know if Fox blacks it out in all areas other than where it's airing live? If not, they should.

I definitely agree. I know it has to be more than the producers rigging it. The underlying factor is race. All the good singers have been African American. Simon said it night in and night out that he felt that latoya and fantasia were the best singers. This is bull crap. Jasmina knows that she doesnt deserve any of this. She cried last night beacause she knows she did horrible. Se even looked pitiful tonight. Paula was crying her but off she knows as well. Everyone does. Racist IDOl

There IS a logical reason, and it's simple! LaToya's fans assumed she'd move forward to the next round, so they didn't jam up the phone lines with votes! Jasmine's fans heard the lousy (and justly deserved) reviews from the judges and rallied round. Race had nothing to do with it - it's plain and simple, although they won't want to hear it, LaToya's fans let her down 100%. There needs to be an overwhelming outpouring of support for Diana and Fantasia next week, or Jasmine will end up in the top 2, and that would be a monumental tragedy.

I have to disagree with you that Latoya's fans did not vote and thus let her down. There seems to be something unusual going on with the whole voting proceedure this year. We have been voting for three years. After that fiasco with Jennifer, despite all of our votes, we knew to be deligent and consistent in our voting. My friends in the Eastern Time Zone, I in Central and others on the West Coast found ourselves, phone in hand for two hours barely able to get a vote in because Latoya's line was jammed. How many others attempting to vote had the same experience, is impossible to tell.

I do not think it has anything to do with race, but I do believe that somebody has figured out how to knock off the competition electronically, during the voting. And I agree with the person who believes that the judges' votes should count as 50 percent or so, to assure that the real talents compete against each other. Jasmine's staying in the competition is a real insult to talented people everywhere.

American Idol is turning into a real FARCE!!!! And I hope this FARCE gets Jasmine as their American Idol! The other three can go on to become winners using their talents. Just tell me where to sign my name for the boycott!

It is a farce. I do still believe, though, that LaToya's fans underestimated the amount of support Jasmine would receive. The word out there is LaToya's phone line wasn't completely jammed up Tuesday night, and it was fairly easy to get through - unless they jumped ship and voted for Jasmine, which isn't likely. Whatever anyone's thoughts on this are, it should be a wake-up call for next week, (for those who aren't boycotting!) because Hawaii will be ready again to get their idol through to the final round. And that would be just plain wrong.

I had the EXACT same experience. Placed as many votes as I could within the two-hour time frame. But I got a busy signal on about half of the calls I made.

The whole show is now a farce for me. I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories. I don't think it's JUST tween-agers with cell phones doing a bunch of power voting. I just think it's a democratic voting system run amok.

It saddens me that all this controvery will probably garner even higher ratings for AI. Which means there probably will be a fourth series. Goody: we can all watch in horror as the next batch of Tamyras and LaToyas get voted off well before they deserve to.

Shame.

It's easy to see why this happened (just like when it always happens)on these boards or on the MSN Boards. Tons of Latoya fans saying: "I voted 10 times" or "I voted 5 times". Jasmine was so bad last night that her fans voted 300 times for 2 hours trying to save her. Simon basically dared all of Hawaii to vote.

When it came down to it, Latoya just didn't inspire enough passion. She'll be more than all right.

And I totally admit, I don't vote 100% on voice. Why should I? We have this debate every week. Different things are important to different people in their American Idol. For some people it is singing. For others it's personalities. Others it's looks, who is from their state, etc. That's why it's such an interesting show. It takes more than being a good singer to be a star.

I don't agree with a boycott and I don't think any great number of extra people are actually voting for Jasmine OR that the tears brought her extra votes. In fact, I actually think that LaToya did it to HERSELF by not giving the public the show that they deserve to see. Someone said it very aptly a while back when they said they would be willing to buy her records but not watch her in public.

I predicted to my husband that there WOULD be an upset tonight and that LaToya would go......not because Jasmine would harbour a sympathy vote but BECAUSE Latoya's votes would go to DIANA. Who is the one to watch these days and is threatening to win this competition??????? Certainly not Jasmine that you all seem to be whining about!!!

I do not agree with your statement that LaToya did not give the public what they deserved but we all have our opinions. I think Diana has a good voice but not superstar material yet. We are voting for an American Idol not an American Idol in the making. Some of us seem to have a short memory but American Idol runner-up Justin was given the boot by his recording company because he was not selling any records. Believe me, these companies do not run on, in the future they may be great, they need to leave American Idol running. I don't feel we are doing the contestants any justice by voting for them because they are cute, bubbly, etc. Can they earn the contract they are going to be receiving or are they going to be a no-hit wonder - although our American Idol.

I do not blame the public as much as I feel the judges help push the public in the direction they vote. They need to be completely honest with your critiques across the board. I don't think they realize (when they say things such as "That wasn't your best this week or I wasn't feeling you") the Ameican public is waiting for a chance to oust the front-runner for the underdog and these comments give them the ammunition to do so. Even comments like, you are going home, have proven more than once to be incorect. I think they know what they are doing and I blame them for a lot of what is going on now. You and I know that there were a lot of off key notes that were not even commented on by our judges. (Their comments - good job - best yet, etc.) If you are going to judge, judge fairly. If you are hard of hearing or afraid of hurting feelings, remember this is a contest. If they worked for Donald Trump, they would all be fired and so would the American public. Give the job to someone else who will fairly judge the competition.

I also feel that after this total disaster of an American Idol Content, the judging should be taken from the American public and given to Guest Judges -- Guest Judges every week. Simon, Paula and Randy can still offer their comments, but they do not make the final decision as to who goes or stays.

here's a thought, why doesn't American Idol let us vote for who we think should be voted OFF? Or allow just one vote (okay, okay or five or 10) per viewer telephone line? I suppose AT&T or AI or some other entity involved would stand to loose thousands of dollar......but to have clear talent gone such as happened in the last few weeks, turns the show into something besides a talent search. Most of the American public IS smarter then a box of dirt and it's hard to invest time in watching and voting for a talented contestants that disappear.

DON'T BLAME JASMINE MAKING IN THE FINAL 3!!!

Blame the producers for making these results!!!

It's too obvious that they want Jasmine to be the villainess while LaToya is the victim! You slammed her badly just because she made it in the final 3! Don't you see what's happening! OPEN YOUR MIND! The real victim here is Jasmine! She deserved to go last night but the producers kept her to create a big a**hole drama...

Jennifer was made to look like a victim while John was the one they have to blame!!! It worked great 'cause it made a controversy. It create issues and people around the world talked about these. The producers are all happy! It can create high publicity!

This is what they are doin' again on LaToya and Jasmine! Don't make a d*mn big deal about it! Anyway, Jasmine will only be 3rd 'cause the producers already set up a Final 2 Diana and Fantasia!

Don't slam Jasmine just because she made it this far! Slam the producers and boycott the show! Jasmine will be hurt too badly by this scenario! She'll always end up as a loser in the end! And it's all because of the producer... They want this show to be a big time while hurting these YOUNG KIDS!!! Jasmine is talented but she's regressing badly... She's not at par with LaToya and Fantasia but still she has talent!

The real A**ES in this show are the JUDGES and specifically the PRODUCERS!!!

(Note, I didn't vote for her anymore... it's for her own good! D*mn, those manipulative producers!!!)

wasn't part of the producers' plan for Final 2! If Jennifer was still here, she'll topple all of them 'cause she'll improve greatly... Jasmine is obviously regressing way too much right now... Diana and Fantasia are the Producer's Final 2 Plan... LaToya and Jennifer are unexpected factors in this show which is not part of these producers' plans...

Exactly but I think America is finally getting wise to this show and the producers.
I think they have it mappped out from the start who is going home each week before it happens.
Gee, didn't Simon say Tuesday night to Diana to stay away from Fantasia and Latoya cause she could break them up.. Coincidence? or was that statement planned.??
Rememeber jennifer's night before going home when Simon said The 3 Divas and she had the other 2 Divas getting nervous.. Come on, these shows are even scripted I would say down to what the judges are saying.
I hate to keep repeating this but if you go to the American Idol website and the questions and answers, the last line concerning rules says" Rules and procedures are subject to change at the discretion of teh PRODUCER without notice. so you can figure out what that means, it means nobody can sue them for rigging the votes the way they want them to go.

JASMINE is the victim here, not Latoya. The producers are using her just like they used John to stir controversy for the show.

And you're right. In terms of talent,Jasmine does not compare to latoya and fantasia who should have been the final two. But then again this does not give anybody, including the JUDGES, the right to crucify her.

Do Paula and Randy have any respect for Jasmine's family? They almost told Jasmine last night 'Leave the show right now'. At least, Simon did not put the blame on Jasmine. He simply said she should be thankful to hawaii, America chooses the winners......

There is no way the producers would risk the fallout that would occur if the public found out that the results were scripted. The ratings for the show too good. They are raking in the money for advertising.

Just because many Americans do not agree with the results, does not mean that there is a conspiracy theory at work here.

Well what if they somehow manipulate the phone lines so that its harder to get through to one contestant bu not the other, a busy signal does not necessarily mean votes are getting in, it could mean its hard to get in so no votes are being cast.
If and when it came down to showing results on paper you would have an accurate count.
If you truly beieve the show is on the up and up with the voting and the way people are voted off are left up there then why would they have to put the line at the end of the rules that states that the rules and procedures can be changed at anytime at the discretion of the producer without any notice.
This tells you that everything may not be what you think it is.

rules and procedures can be changed at anytime at the discretion of the producer without any notice.

One reason they do this is to protect themselves from unforeseen problems. For example, on one show they gave the wrong phone number for one of the contestants at the end. So instead of voting anyone off during the next show, they threw the votes out and let everyone stay.

I absolutely agree with everything you're saying. and the fact that they keep reiterating, "America has voted" just gives me a creepy feeling. I definitely think that this show will not last much longer if they keep insulting "America" by saying that we are the ones that are voting for these not-up-to-par contestants. I also believe that the judges will have a hard time coming back next year.

I agree with you 100%.
Jasmine should have gone before George and the producers fixed it then so she could stay.
Now to send Latoya home before Jasmine, it stinks.
I say everyone should stop watching.
Diana and Jasmine in the finals, its possible. Oh my tv may crack from the flat notes, off key screaming that will go on.
They all knew Latoya was going, if you think to the comments Paula made about Americana will forgive you. Ryan kept impressing the fact that America votes and that was the night before.
Even that dumb psychic made reference to Jasmine beating out everyone and then she told Latoya even if this is the end your career will go on, something to that effect.
ITS RIGGED..... the rules state that they can change rules and procedures at anytime without notice. so what does that tell you, I the producer will pick and choose who I want. The sad fact is they are making AT&T richer off of this with text messaging. I say everyone should boycott the rest of this season. DO NOT WATCH

For those who don't think it is possible, it IS possible for the show to manipulated. There's an "independent marketing firm" tabulating the votes. These are the same folks that call you at 7:30 p.m. every night and try to get you to re-finance your mortgage even though you've told them 3 billion times that you live in an apartment. Do you really trust them? The producers?

It is so manipulated.
I just wish some disgruntled employee would blow the cover on them but I guess they are probably like the Enron employees and don't even know it is going on.

I totally agree the show needs a rude awakening.

I remember the first year when 2 of my faves didn't make it - I was so mad and outraged I swore I would never watch the show again.

The 2nd year, I decided to watch just the auditions and I can't remember if I stopped after Clay Aiken made it to the finals or the first contestant from year 2 got voted off (and it wasn't Clay). And, I didn't watch any of the final parts except for what I would see while flipping channels.

For year 3, again the auditions but there were many contestants that I was rooting for so I decided to watch.

It was a hundred times worse than the first year.

JPL & Big Red made a mockery of the show - now it seems this process is repeating and I really have to agree that there is some sort of manipulation going on or the "power voters" armed with their high speed computerized dialers are making a generally enjoyable show into a nightmare.

Combine that with commercial after commercial, the endless plugs for products within the show, etc., - the correct word or words for what this show is are not commonly appreciated on forum boards.

Anyway, Latoya will be a star, no doubt. Good luck Latoya, we're rooting for you.

Also, I do hope Jasmine wins - that way the show's credibility will be ZILCH!

P.s. I still don't think the most talented contestant has won any American Idol thus far. I guess we just need to face it or buy one of those computerized power dialers. I don't think I really care anymore.

You are an example of why a boycott will likely fail. Even though on several occasions when you got disgusted with the voting results and swore you would not watch again, you ended up watching again. The producers have no reason to change things much as long as the ratings are through the roof.

The vast majority of viewers that were so disgusted when Jennifer was voted out and again when La Toya was voted out, will be back watching next week and next season.

If the results always went exactly like the judges concensus then the show would get boring very quickly. The fact is that with the voting system as it is, there will continue to be some surprizes in the voting results which will help the ratings rather than hinder the ratings.

Clearly the voting has been curious, but it isn't strictly demographics or George Huff would still be around as the only male while the female vote is split.

I don't think the producers are rigging it. If they were then Jennifer, Latoya and Amy (the 3 best singers) would still be around.

I do agree that if Jasmine wins the show should be boycotted. I will never watch again if she is the winner.

Shame on Simon for giving her the sympathy vote! That crying little b*!*@ knew just what she was doing on stage. I could have strangled her for being elated after finding out she was safe. She should be ashamed, her voice is awful.

Of course Jasmine was elated that she was safe, she acted in the manner that any other 17 year girl would act. Please, let's not forget that she is a teenager, playing an adult game.

I know, I know, John Stevens is 16, and he seemed upset each week that he didn't go, but John Stevens is unlike any other 16 year old boy that I ever met. He was more adult about the situation than most grown ups I know.

I also think it is awful how people try to blame the contestants for the results. Jasmine has no more to do with Laytoya being voted off, than John Stevens had to do with Jennifer being voted off. I wonder, how many people, out of the ones that are doing all the complaining actualy voted? Probaly not alot, so unless all those people voted their heads off for Laytoya, they really should blame themselves for the results.

Lets also remember a couple of very important things. This is a TV show, it is a contest, for entertainment purposes. It is not an election, our lives do not depend on who wins. There is so much more terrible things going on in this world, than whether Laytoya and Jennifer got the boot. Those two young women will go on and be better off than they were 6 months ago. So I really don't boo hoo for them.

There is more postivie with AI, than there is negative. It's just bringing up the negative seems to be alot more fun for most people

If Jasmine wants to sit at the adult table, she needs to act like an adult, John Stevens did,so her age will not excuse her actions.I don't blame Jasmine that Latoya is gone, I only blame Jasmine for her bad singing. This messageboard is for entertainment also, and some people (like myself) enjoy picking on the contestants. You're right, bringing up the negative about AI is more fun for a lot of people, nothing wrong with that.

Well actually George should have been there this week in place of Jasmine. Rumor has it that less then 200 votes separated George/Jasmine with George leading. The producers held a behind closed door meeting and decided to send George home becasue haing Jasmine on would create more controversy which in fact what do we have MORE CONTROVERSY..........

Really? That's weird, the rumor I heard was that George drives a HYUNDAI and the producers had to come up with the 200 vote/secret meeting rumor because there was no way they could allow someone so obviously "anti-American Idol" to advance to the final four. I just don't know what to believe anymore.

You are so correct. It's unfortunate that this show is taking such a nose dive this year. They will need to correct or change the voting or next year may be the last year. The public, as with many of us as individuals, will only take so much BS before we say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. No one likes to be treated as if we are STUPID yet FOX continues to give us crazy results and expect us (the public) to swallow the crap. We saw this coming in season one when Tamrya left and Nikki stayed, Now twice this season....

Screw me once, shame on you
Screw me twice, shame on me
Screw me three time, NEVER!!!

The final two will determine if AI remains in my reality show repertiore. With crap like this going on, Bring back Paradise Hotel to complete my BS time.

This must have been mentioned before, but I didn't see it, so here goes.

After voting last season, one thing became clear to me: the results are random at this point. There are so few contestants and so many voters and not enough phone lines. The lines are always busy. This means that everyone will get as many votes as the phone lines can record. The winners and losers are determined by the people who get luckiest on getting their voters through.

Where there is this much smoke of discontent there has to be a fire. It occurred to me and probably you too that if you also watch Survivor and when people were voting for the "second million dollar winner" that some people had set up websites for some of these people that would automatically continue to vote. I was wondering if such a scam is taking place here. It is too suspicious not to have some sort of fire of deception happening to the voting. I know I am done with this season and next if the voting rules dont change. Any thoughts?

You are so right, except that when the voters in Hawaii get there chance to vote 5 or 6 hours after everyone else, there are not near as many people trying to get in, so their votes get in much more often, which could skew the vote in Jasmins's favor.

Thus Jasmine could get more votes even though the other contestants had more people try to vote for them. They just got many more busy signals.

To fix this problem, assuming they keep the same voting system, they need to allow much more time to vote or greatly increase the number of voting lines to cut down on the amount of busy signals.
