No one stands out this year like those in the top group from the two previous seasons, so it's a little tough to rank/pick this time around. My guess is that this year's 'Idol' will be a girl (maybe even the runner-up too), but who/whom I don't know yet.   Top

They're all mediocre at best; the ones who look OK couldn't carry a tune if you gave them a bucket, and the few of them who can actually sing have a litany of other things wrong with them. However, rather than sit it out this season, let's turn our energies towards bashing these no-hopers at every opportunity. As soon as any of them emerges from the pack and makes some kind of impression on us rather than being one of twelve utterly unremarkable wannabes, let's help them understand why they shouldn't have bothered.   Top

Hasn't aired here yet on the Left Coast, but thanks for letting us know in advance (for us)....I may not even watch now! Why bother? From worst to best: Bleah - oh please. I knew she'd get in, just thought it would be Randy, not Paula. Please let her be gone soon!! Camille - never impressed me from the beginning Jasmine - ditto Jon Paul - unless he improves drastically, I can't see it. I knew he was gonna be popular, though. And, apparently, fearless. George - yeah, he's got the personality and seems like a nice guy, but he always sounds like he's on the verge of losing his voice. John Sinatra - again, unless he does something drastically different, I can't see it. But again, a very popular one. Matthew Football player - I actually liked his voice, and like him the best of the guys. I know I'm alone in this. Fantasia - While I don't care for her vocal style, I think she will go far and that she is a strong, polished performer. Amy - maybe not as vocally pure as the rest, but I'm looking forward to see what she can do. Jennifer - My favorite at the beginning, but I want to see her dress better! Still like her powerhouse voice. Diana - I liked her from the start, she was the one I judged everyone else by because she went first. I'd like to see how she stacks up and make the final three or four. LaToya - My fave and the closest thing we have to a "local girl." If she does as well as she did in the opening round, I don't see this as much of a competition. No Suzy....sigh....still can't believe BLeah!   Top

I wonder if the ratings for this season will be lower because of the seeming lack of talent compared to last season. Last season at this point I really liked Kimberly Locke, Clay and Ruben. After listening to Ruben tonight I remember why I liked him so much last season. It really was a great final 3!!   Top

Im doing this on how I think they will fall...not exactly in how I like them because um I can't stand Fantasia's voice and she's high on my list. 12) LEAH LABELLE-ooo she's dreadfully bad and I don't think the fans like her. Let us pray that we take her out of her misery (and ours) and send her no talent behind home! 11)JOHN STEVENS-He's too one dimensional. If they do the show like they did last year with the different genres, he'll be out quick. Could you imagine him being your American Idol? Only your grandparents would buy the CD because he's just OLD OLD OLD school...like 1930 old school. 10)CAMILE VELASCO- I didn't think she was all that bad but then again she was in the worst group. I just don't think she's strong enough to make an impact. 9)JASMINE TRIAS - Another person that I enjoyed but I don't think she's strong enough as well. I also think she won't have a strong fan base. If you're a cute guy (well cute is subjective because Clay, Josh, and Justin were all unattractive but people in the 10-15 year old range thought they were the best thing since Pokemon) you tend to go farther than you should even if you cant sing. 8)MATTHEW ROGERS- Personally, Lisa was MUCH better than him and deserves his spot more than he does. Although he has a fan base, unless he can recreate his audition piece, I don't see it happening for him. 7)JENNIFER HUDSON- I think she's good but you can only take so much of her Diana Ross like facial expressions and her HORRID taste in fashion. She deserves to go further IMO but I think she'll stop short like Trenyce did last year. 6/5)DIANA DEGARMO/GEORGE HUFF- I like both of them. I really got a kick out of the fact that Diana sang a song that I kicked to in one of my spring dance show finales in HS. She sang it ten times better than the original artist. She's a great singer and I hope that my prediction is wrong and she goes further. Quite a voice for someone so young. I also love George. He seems so nice and that he really loves and wants this and that he's really having a good time. I also think he's a good singer. His personality will take him far and like Diana, I hope my prediction is wrong. 4)JON PETER LEWIS- I actually don't think tht Jon belongs this high but clearly America loves him. He's a cute little dood...i think I saw him in all three LOTR movies but I don't think his singing is all that strong. 3)AMY ADAMS- I personally think Amy deserves to be #2 but I think Fantasia will beat her out for some odd reason. I think she has a very very nice voice. 2)FANTASIA BARRINO- Her voice is a mess but for some reason people like her. 1)LATOYA LONDON - Latoya deserves #1 but Fantasia may steal it ~PhoenixMons is God Thank you so much!~   Top

Here are my rankings: 12. Leah-What was Paula thinking? Please, please, please vote this girl out first! 11.Matthew-I have no idea how Mr. Rose bowl made it to the top 12. Just don't get him. 10. Camile-Don't remember her... 9. LaToya- Don't remember her either...must've been the show I didn't see all of. 8. Fantasia-Unfortunately, I do remember her. Probably should be ranked behind Matthew... 7. Jasmine-I want to really like her because she's Hawaiian, but she's just so-so in my opinion. 6. Amy-I like her because she's a bit different 5. Jennifer- Strong voice, but the tears are going to get old real quick. 4. Diana-Really strong voice, but I'm just not on the Diana Bandwagon yet. Give me time. 3. John Stevens- I like how he wears suits. He needs a little work, but I like how he's a throwback... 2. George Huff-His personality won me over last night. I loved his version of Lean on Me. 1. Camile - Going to lose the cute Hawaiian girl vote to Jasmine, whose got more talent. 10. Fantasia - Yes, she hit it out of the park on her first attempt. But her voice is not going to be well-suited for some of the themes they pick, and she does have some people turned off with her Macy Gray style. 9. John Stevens - Nice voice, no stage presence, will not handle some of the themes well. 8. Diana DeGarmo 7. Jasmine Trias 6. Amy Adams 5. Matthew Rogers 4. Jennifer - Great voice, needs to work on the style side. Could do better, if others voices don't hold up during the competition. 3. Jon Peter - There's a voice underneath all that geekiness. He's got a good fan base, and he sticks out for that off-beat personality of his. 2. George - He looks like he's having so much fun when he's on stage! His enthusiasm is infectious. 1. Jennifer Hudson - Shouts too much for my liking 10. George Huff - Great voice, too cheery for me. 9. Matthew Rogers - I just know he'll go far because I hate him. At least he can sing though. 8. Fantasia Barrino - Like her, but the scratchy voice will wear thin on me. 7. Amy Adams - Starting to remind me too much like Vanessa now. 6. John Stevens - Not sick of his style--yet. 5. I really miss Larry. His take on her outfit would be hilarious. 11. Camile Velasco. I don't get her either. Her voice is not strong enough to be a competition like this. She better bring it next week. 10. Jasmine Trias Ditto my Camile comments. 9. Matthew Rogers I actually like his voice (*ducks*) but I hate his personality. 8. Jon Peter Lewis I actually hate his voice (*ducks*) but I really like his personality. 7. Fantasia Barrino I like her...but I'm not crazy about her. 6. John Stevens I really like his voice. He is distinctive and seems like a really nice guy also. 5. Diana Degarmo She has a beautiful voice, but she is not very distinctive. She seems to have a nice personality, and could potentially be the surprise of the season. 4. Jennifer Hudson I shudder to think of what Larry would say about her ill-fitting horrendous outfits. Did I mention how much I miss him? I know I have something to say...not just about the dress...but the too tight jacket over the odd colored shirt that accentuated her middle, which may not be the most flattering look for her. That said, she has nice hair and a nice smile. If I am not watching the television, her voice is very beautiful and I enjoy listening to it. However, it pains me to watch her sing. Singing should appear effortless for our American Idol, and it definitely doesn't for her. Her facial expressions seem to indicate that she swallowed a frog. 3. Amy Adams I think she has a very distinctive pleasing voice. 2. George Huff Did not Simon back peddle? He said that he picked George because the audience would like him, but earlier in the competition, didn't he say that George was too "old-looking" to be a successful Idol. I just love his voice and his personality. You go, George. 1. Latoya London I almost stopped watching this show. Then, I got chills when Latoya sang "All By Myself." I only have gotten chills from one other contestant this early in the competition. That was Clay. I really like Clay. I hope Latoya can deliver next time she sings. The audience has high expectations. I really like her calm down-to-earth personality. A Kyngsladye Original   Top

She was awful last night and the night before, and I don't know how she got in over Susie (Suzy?). 11. MATTHEW ROGERS: I don't think he's particularly talented or suited to this show, not to mention there's just something about him that rubs me all the wrong way. 10. JASMINE TRIAS: She'll go for a ways because Hawaii will vote for her, but she's nothing special, IMO. 9. CAMILE VELASCO: Maybe it's just me, but she acts like she couldn't care less about being here. She's got a voice, but her personality isn't enough to carry her through. 8. DIANA DEGARMO: She's adorable and cute and perky, and she has a great voice. However, there are others I like better. 6. GEORGE HUFF (as chosen by Simon): Love his personality. But his voice cracks sometimes, and I think he's not going to be as good on other song in other genres. 5. JON PETER LEWIS (as voted by America): I've picked him since the first time I saw him, and I love his personality when he's singing and goofing. However, when he's serious, he looks like he's totally devoid of any thought or emotion, and I don't think he's a good enough singer to win this. I wish he were, though. 4. FANTASIA BARRINO: She's fun and a great singer, but not my favorite. 3. LATOYA LONDON: Amazing voice, presence, all that ... on that one song. Even the judges were like, where did this come from? I don't know that she will be able to shine in all the different genres if she can't sing a Whitney/Celine/Mariah type song. I also don't really know anything about her personality. 2. AMY ADAMS: She has a wonderful voice and an adorable personality. I think she'll go really far, but if she doesn't, she's still one of my faves. 1. JOHN STEVENS: There's just something about him I love. He makes me feel like a big sister who needs to watch over him or something. I love his voice, and my husband and I discussed his performances in the different genres last night. I think his voice could work in most of them ... think about it: If there's a Beach Boys night, he could sing Surfer Girl. If there's a disco night ... well, I don't do disco very well, so I can't think. But we had a lot of good examples last night. I just love this guy I have my own little world. But it's OK ... they know me here.   Top

Paul Simon did a fabulous rendition of Surfer Girl at the Brian Wilson tribute concert. It gave my chills and I didn't stop talking about it for two days. John could knock a song like this out of the park, but his youth/nervousness seem to get in the way sometimes. He doesn't have nearly the personality or eloquence that Clay had-- at least not yet. John Stevens - The public seems to really like him...I think he'll improve throughout the competition. 3. Jon Peter Lewis - Too silly to be a serious Idol...voice isn't great, either. 4. Diana DeGarmo - Very strong voice for someone so young. 5. Fantasia Barrino - Big lips, big personality, big voice. 6. Jasmine Trias - Personality isn't strong enough. 7. GEORGE HUFF - he's a sweetheart, he can blow, he is a good entertainer, he's humble (or plays humble very well)...what more could you want? FANTASIA BARRINO - love her voice (and I don't like Macy Gray), and she's a great entertainer LATOYA LONDON - nice performance the other night - but I only remember that one performance so maybe it was just one night of success? CAMILE VELASCO - I liked her raspy voice - it's different...she clearly has talent but I think the first three are in a league of their own AMY ADAMS - She impressed me much more in the beginning. Her week's performance was not that impressive to me and she might start to annoy me by being TOO quirky (too much of it too often, anyway) JENNIFER HUDSON - I have liked what I've heard of her. LEAH LABELLE - I know I'm in the minority on this, but I kinda like her. Granted, you all just don't realize that her fashion choices are pretty much all the rage in Europe (which means they'll be headed this way before long), so I'll give you that. I know her vocals aren't always on (I AM a singer, after all), but there is just something about her that I really like. It's just a personal thing I guess, kinda like how I adored Rickey Smith last season and everyone thought I was nuts (too bad the guy had a killer voice ). JASMINE TRIAS - she's not fantastic but she was certainly deserving of her spot based upon the performances of her week. The remaining four do not belong in the top 12 and should be immediately replaced by more worthy competitors: Lisa L. - yeah, she was robbed big time - stupid judges Suzy - robbed by the horrible Elvis impersonator Erskine - I liked him but he didn't do terribly well in the week 1 performance. He would/should have gone through in any other week. Charly Lowry - something about her I liked even though she was pretty dreary in her week performance.   Top
