Did anyone watch last night? I thought it was the worst show yet. The disqualification was very anti-climatic since I didn't even know who Delano was prior to the DQ. The "fight" between Simon and Randy seemed staged to me. But I have to agree with Simon, Jim and AJ were not the strongest candidates but because Simon was honest with them they got the sympathy vote. I hope the same doesn't happen with RJ because he was like Simon said, average. I hate that Randy and Paula keep sticking up for the singers that do not do well and do not have the talent. They need to be honest. I also wish they would give constructive criticism. Instead of just saying "i don't like it" they should say "well, you were flat on this note, and you didn't have the right pitch, or whatever". To their credit they were doing this a little better last night. Now the contestants. I can honestly say that I do not want anyone from this group to win. I can't even really pick a favorite. I absolutely hated Ejay (the replacement) he totally oversang a freakin' Edwin McCain song. He tried to put every style of singing into this one mediocre song. I can't believe the judges liked him. I'll have to pick Nicki as my favorite. She was the one with the funky dyed hair and sang Total Eclipse of the Heart. At least she had some personality.

I agree Nikki was good. I also liked the last two, Kahleef (sp?) and Christina. The first few were all awful, especially RJ, who should join a boy band with AJ. The judges' confrontation was very annoying, especially when Randy was like "This is America, we don't do that here." Apparently Randy lives in a different America than the rest of us. Additionally, if these kids are trying to make it, they better be tough enough. However, Simon could have made his remarks about Jim and AJ when there wasn't a contestant standing there on stage. The hosts are terrible. Ryan Seacrest is a local LA dj, and other stations always make fun of him. Now I see why. No new episode next week, so I guess it's two weeks until the finals?

I have the same picks you do Todd. The Total Eclipse of the Heart girl had a lot of presence and individuality - the last girl was very charismatic and sang really well. Both picked interesting songs and sang the holy heck out of them. The two of them and Justin (didn't see the first set of finalists) just have "it" whatever that is. You just want to watch them I guess. I'll take the My Cherie Amour guy as third just because he had a very cool voice. His performance was no great shakes though, but still better than the others - most of whom really sucked quite frankly. Behind every great man is a surprised woman.

Actually, the finale is not supposed to be until September 4th. There is another show where the wildcard is selected. In the shows after that, voters will call in and vote someone off, until the final three remain. I am pretty sure that that is how it is going to work.

Christina, the girl who sang last Nikki, with tongue ring who did "Total Eclipse of the Heart" EJay, the alternate who replaced Delano. They were all good, though I'd been rooting for Khaleef. Next week the judges pick one, who will almost certainly be Christopher Aaron, with an outside chance of Angela Peel.
