When he proposed on bended knee, the nation watched Bachelor star Aaron Buerge, 28, make Helene Eksterowicz, 27, the happiest woman in the world. But just days after the hit show reached its gripping climax. the bride-to-be confessed her deepest fears: Helene is terrified that her dream wedding will never happen.
The school psychologist has barely seen her fiance since she agreed to be his wife. The couple was forced apart due to the cloak of secrecy, and now Helene has doubts about their future. "What I'm most worried about is the danger that Aaron and I won't get to know each other properly," Helene tells In Touch. "It's important we step off the fantasy cloud and come down to earth."
Now back at work in Clayton, N.J., Helene has only seen Aaron three times since filming for the show ended on September 6. "Both of us are trying to figure out exactly what we should do," she explains. "We need to get to know each other better." "Since the show aired, we've only had a couple of days together. It's been a real emotional rollercoaster. I really hope it works out," she adds. "We'll continue to get to know each other slowly."
As well as meeting twice in secret before the final show, they had just one public date, a trip see the hit Broadway show Hairspray. But after signing autographs for the cast during intermission, Aaron and Helene had to leave because they were getting so much attention from fans. After hearing tabloid reports that Aaron is a cheater, Helene fears he will leave her devastated.
"I just hope he's going to be true to me," she says, "or I'll be the one whose heart is broken into a million pieces." "I heard rumors Aaron had been cheating on me, and I was astonished," she continues. "It was pretty upsetting, the thought of my fiance being with another woman. But Aaron said it wasn't true, and I had to believe it."
Helene's worries are not unfounded; Aaron has propsed before - and broke his first fiance's heart. He popped the question to Helene at a gorgeous beachside location, but that ritual was not a first for Aaron. Less than two years ago, he propsed to Valerie Zellmer while on vacation in Mexico. But he got cold feet before walking down the aisle.
