LAST EDITED ON 10-08-01 AT 10:36 AM (EST) We have the best military force in the world, with the best and bravest people out there....Contrary to what Bill Maher and the Berkley Bunch of hand wringers might think or say.....Our military is brave. The pack of vermon that attacked our innocent civilian targets were cowards.
They hide behind obscure passages of the Koran that they pervert for their own reasons. Two weeks ago Bin Laden claimed that he knew nothing of the attacks. On the video shown yesterday, he was bragging about have been behind it. The Koran also addresses liars. It directs that liars should have their tongues burnt out with fire. I suggest that's what should happen to him and those that follow him or buy into his crap. What the pacifists out there should realize is that this is not Vietnam. WE were attacked, we cannot sit and whine about giving peace a chance or worry about hitting civilians that the enemy hides among. They brought the war to us, we must act accordingly or live under the yoke of tyranny. May God Bless and Protect Our Military and Our Country.

What the pacifists out there should realize is that this is not Vietnam. WE were attacked, we cannot sit and whine about giving peace a chance or worry about hitting civilians that the enemy hides among. They brought the war to us, we must act accordingly or live under the yoke of tyranny. No, this isn't Vietnam, but it is war, and in war, it is inevitable that many innocent people die so that people can prove some sort of vinidictive point. Now I agree along with most everyone else that bin Laden and his associates should go down for this, but what good does it do to kill people that have had nothing at all to do with this? My concern is that sometimes our politicians and military leaders go way too far under the guise of retaliation, but really, how is it any better when we kill innocent people because innocent people were killed? The civilians did not bring the war to us, as you say--the terrorists did, the extremist members of the Taliban, but not the civilians. If you say the civilians did this, you're falling into the same kind of logic bin Laden uses when he says that all of America has defamed his sacred ground by having a society where women are allowed to walk around with uncovered heads and serve in the military. It just doesn't make sense. Finally, don't you think that "acting accordingly" will only continue to enrage the tyrants? You think they're just going to sit back and take it in the stomach without pulling out their biggest and best? By getting involved with a conflict that is so large-scale, so quickly, we endanger our entire country. Remember, they have nuclear weapons--we don't want a nuclear war on our hands because most likely, it would be the end of civilization as we know it, and then what good would that retaliation have done. Of course, I realize all of this is going to happen whether I want it to or not. I just wish the boys would think more rationally before endangering all the citizens of America--even the world--rather than letting their emotions be their guide. Frau Hexe

<<No, this isn't Vietnam, but it is war, and in war, it is inevitable that many innocent people die so that people can prove some sort of vinidictive point. >> And what "vindictive point" might that be in this case? The stated goal of these people is to destroy the United States and its people. Are you sugesting that we sit back and wait until the next attack, or the one after that, or give them Poland and then a little of this country and.....oh wait....that was another war and someone else that the pacifists tried to appease, wasn't it? We can see what appeasement did then, should we let history once more repeat itself? Have the pacifists learned absolutely nothing? <<Finally, don't you think that "acting accordingly" will only continue to enrage the tyrants? You think they're just going to sit back and take it in the stomach without pulling out their biggest and best? By getting involved with a conflict that is so large-scale, so quickly, we endanger our entire country. Remember, they have nuclear weapons--we don't want a nuclear war on our hands because most likely, it would be the end of civilization as we know it, and then what good would that retaliation have done?>> Don't you think that the tyrants would have used a nuclear weapon had they they means instead of the crude method of slaughtering "only" a few thousand people? By all means, let us not "enrage the tyrants." You don't negotiate with fanatics. They don't settle for half a glass of water. The only thing they want is what they believe. They believe that the United States AND its people are satanic and evil and must be destroyed. Let's just invite them over now to the White House to sign the papers turning the government over to them now instead of waiting, shall we? Or perhaps we can appease them! How should we start? Hmmm...let's see they don't allow women to go to school, certainly don't allow them to speak in public.... <<Of course, I realize all of this is going to happen whether I want it to or not. I just wish the boys would think more rationally before endangering all the citizens of America--even the world--rather than letting their emotions be their guide.>> Did you not see the World Trade Center or the Pentagon? Did you not listen or hear about Osama bin Laden's taped statement? ALL the citizens of America are already endangered. All the people of the world who do not think like he wishes are endangered. You do not let a rabid dog loose in a crowded market place. You kill it. That is logic, not emotions. And what "boys" are you alluding to that should think more rationally? I wasn't aware that we had "boys" making policy decisions for this country. How about Ms. Rice, the National Security Advisor? Have you read her opinion of the matter? Perhaps you should.

Look, it's apparent that you and I agree on nothing--that's obvious. Although you've taken many of my statements out of context and ignored others, I'm not going to argue with you anymore. Just realize, I said that I think the people responsible for these actions should, in fact, pay--with their lives, that is, but I don't think people who have no part in it should. Why is that so hard to understand? I'm not against the premise of punishing these tyrants for what they did--I'm against endangering innocent human beings. So don't jump to call me a pacifist. I'm simply trying to think rationally and wishing the rest of this country would as well. You can argue until you're blue in the face, but I won't be responding to your posts anymore. It's a waste of my time and energy to battle with someone over such issues when all I was trying to do initially was express my concern over the situation. In my opinion, if you're not concerned about what's going on in the world, if you're not afraid of mistakes our government could make, you're not paying attention. Frau Hexe

Speaking as one who is both, let me tell you all a little story (g'wan, pull up a chair, it's a mite of a story I promise); A ways back oh 1840s or there'bouts come a time when America decided to up and go to war with it's neighbor Mexico. Yup, it's true, neighbor fighting neighbor, things like that abeen goin' on all through time, yup. Anyways, there was one fellow in the Congress of the U.S. who was opposed to the war, called it a war of aggression, a war for simply nothing but taking away what was a neighbor's. Well, he was highly criticized for that, but he said it what what he honestly thought, and certainly it must have been for no one would take an unpopular stand, in particular not a pollytishun, 'less it be true. Later on when it come time for Congress to make provisions for the Army being sent to fight that thar war, why durnit if'n that fellow that was against the war he fought the hardest to make sure them men got the best provisions as could be got. When criticized for that he said it was true he was against the war but he was also danged sure against sending men to fight that war with any less support than could possible be provided for them. Yup, it's true. That Congressman's name was Abraham Lincoln.
