LAST EDITED ON 11-04-09 AT 11:09 PM (EST) A Bad Beat That was a rough finish for the poker girls, Maria & Tiffany. They went from one Detour task they couldn't compete to another. It's weird to think about what would've happened if they hadn't have included that strongman's bell before the dance Detour. It was actually kinda weird that they had three separate mini-tasks in one Detour option. I get the vibe that the producers realized that the dancing alone was too easy. Week 6 Results 1st place - Sam/Dan (2x) 2nd place - Meghan/Cheyne (1.5x) 3rd place - FlightTime/BigEasy (1x) 4th place - Gary/Matt (.9x) 5th place - Brian/Ericka (.6x) 6th place - Maria/Tiffany (0x) ... Well, that was a weird week of scoring. In terms of wagers, there were a lot of different schools of thought. In fact, each of the teams (except Maria/Tiffany) got a lot of wagers. Now that the poker girls are gone, it should be really interesting to see where the wagers fall. We also had a new bonus game. After doing PAT and Lucky 7 all the time, I forget what it's like to try out a new game. So there was a little confusion over the rules, but generally things went well. We did have one player bust of out the game, AddieRacer. Thanks for playing, AddieRacer. It's good to see you play, season after season, and I hope to see you next year! Players may place a wager on which team will say a certain word first. The recaps don't count, we're talking the stuff after the credits. What are the different words, you ask? Here's the list. 1. Explosion 2. Bale 3. Direction 4. Taxi 5. Run ("running", "runs" or a verb version accepted) 6. Phil 7. Maria 8. "Shut up" (full expression) 9. Obsequious 10. "Clue box" ("clue" and "box" not accepted) 11. Tired 12. "We're lost" (full expression) 13. Detour 14. Roadblock 15. Mat Each individual wager may not exceed 7 points. You may wager on as many different words as you'd like, and you may separate wager on as many teams as you want for each keyword. 1. "Payout Table Construction"

This post is a guide for the person who wins the Bonus Game this week. Think of it as a weekly reference guide. The rules will change throughout the season as the game gets a little looser.
After the new episode airs, I'll post the correct answer in this thread, identify the winner, and send a private message to that individual. The winner has until the following Tuesday night (midnight) to contact me with their Payout Table for the following week. They can either post it in this thread or send me a private message if they want to be secretive.
If the winner doesn't contact me with their Payout Table by Tuesday night, I will create the next Payout Table instead.
Payout Table Rules
(These may change throughout the season when we get farther into the game.)
1. Your Table must have a ranking for all the potential rankings of the teams. Use the format that I use.
1st place -
2nd place -
3rd place -
4th place -
(This is assuming they eliminate a team on Sunday. If they don't, add 5th place on there.)
2. 1st place must be 2x and last place must be 0x.
3. The payout multipliers must either decrease or remain the same as you go down the payout list. It may never increase as you go down the list.
Therefore, you can't do something like...
1st place - 2x
2nd place - .5x
3rd place - 1.5x
4th place - 0x
That would be pretty mean if you did do that anyway. We'll save that scenario for potentially later in the season.
You could do a 2x/2x/0x/0x if you felt like it, though.
4. The sum of the multipliers must equal the number of rankings. If there's 4 teams left next week, the multipliers have to add up to 4. If there's still 5, they have to add to 5.
1st place - 2x
2nd place - 1.5x
3rd place - .5x
4th place - 0x
2 + 1.5 + .5 = 4
Think of it as the good payouts balancing out the bad payouts.
5. No negative multiplier numbers. Man, why would you do that to a person?
6. Round each decimal to the tenths-point. No 1.24235245x payouts. 1.2x will do just fine, thank you.
If you follow these rules, your Payout Table will be accepted. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Since I always bust out before the first non-elimination leg, I forget how you handle them. Do you score the bets based on the order of finish, or do you carry the bets over until there's a leg with an elimination?

With the non-elim legs, I just score them like a regular elimination leg, with the non-elim'd team scoring 5th place and 0x. For "To Be Continued" legs, I generally throw out the old bets and pretend the week didn't happen.

OK, I'm busted out, and usually I'm hanging around at the bottom of the table anyway, so maybe my opinion doesn't matter too much, but I agree that the way you're running it with bet limits is much better than the no-limit game. Thanks for always running the show! I'll be back next time...

VisionQuest, make sure to make your payout table and send it to me by Tuesday night. Also, be sure to pick one of the following bonus games.
1. PAT, the Painfully Average Team. Players will make wagers on which team will finish 3rd next week.
2. Minority Rules. I'll post four point totals, and players will decide which bonus they want to have. Whoever votes for the option that gets the fewest votes will win the bonus amount. Everyone else will get zero.
3. The Clock Game. I'll post several specific times (like Friday 6:34 PM) and if you make your wager at exact that time (without editing later), you'll receive bonus points.
