"Patti's original charity turned down her donation" |
According to an article I just read from 'fantasy TV' (you can do search on charity donations from the show), Patti's original charity, Bear Neccessities, turned down her offer for the donations from the show.Evidentally they did not want to be involved with any political figure, especially one who may end up in prison, for any amount of money. Too bad, because Patti has yet to be brought in to trial for anything that her husband allegedly did, right? Interesting.....At least I thought it was. Could be yesterday's news for the rest of you, I dunno...

Most celebrity shows that have donations made to charities get sponsors to make donations (ex Top Chef Masters - Lexus). Yet it appears that the only money for this show is from the viewer donations. This link was on the NBC website. http://iac.thegivingbridge.com/FAQ.html This is interesting: How are funds raised for the charity? Money is raised throughout the broadcast of the "I'm A Celebrity?Get Me Out of Here!" series for the celebrities' charities through viewer donations. All monies raised throughout the series will be donated into one main fund - the "I'm A Celebrity" charity fund. How much of my donation goes to charitable causes? All of your donation with the exception of a portion required to process and administer the Fund will go to charitable causes. The percentage of the charity pot is: Winner - 20% #2 - 13.33% #3 - 13.33% all others - 6.67% * after deduction of operational costs I haven't found anything yet that gives the total amount of money donated. LAST EDITED ON 06-25-09 AT 02:46 PM (EST)It seems to me that I hear of spouses (wives) getting involved in their husband's illegal activities mostly because assets derived from these activities are registered in their names. The receiver (wife) would have to sign something acknowledging that she received it, so Patty could become a defendant that way. Assets get shifted to minors too, I think, but they don't have to sign anything, their legal guardians (parents)can sign for them. Unless she participated in the actual bribe scheme (alleged), I would guess that this is the source of her unease. She mentioned on the show that she was just waiting for the Feds to offer her a deal to give evidence/testimony against her husband with the threat that if she doesn't she would be charged with something. In this regard, I can’t help but think that Patty did herself a favor by being on this show, as far as public opinion is concerned. Before this I wouldn’t have given one of IceCat’s carefully hoarded rat butts about whether the wife of Rod Blagojevich was charged or not. Let the chips fall, I would have said. Now it just be wrong.

If they don't want the money, I'll take it.
