"Anyone gonna check out HGTV Design Star?"
Anyone else psyched for the second season of HGTV's Design Star...it takes place in Las Vegas. I think it should be interesting because the decor in Vegas is outlandish and very extravagant (which is a good thing haha) For the premiere (Sun July 22nd @ 10) they are showing some audition tapes, and those weirdos that think they have a chance. I love those, I never watched a competition of AI, but I loved their auditions haha. For the mean time if ya want more info www.hgtv.com/designstar has some good tips, and Vern Yip even has some things to say. So who's gonna TiVO it like I did?

Already got it programmed in my DVR. I enjoy the reality shows where you can see creativity in action, such as -Top Chef, Project Runway, and the top hair stylist one and Design Star. Although usually the finished product is not something that I would have in my house, on my head or in my closet, I appreciate the process.

The 'who made the cut' episode was a little boring for me. They just don't have the 'totally clueless' ones to try out that AI or SYTYCD has - those that make the auditions hilarious.
But I do look forward to the show again this season. I think it was great that David was one of the judges for the final cut. Also that they had one of his shows (Color Splash?) on just before the premier.
Hopefully we can get a few more here to this board to discuss.

I knew that Mr. Tennessee was going to get picked. There's no way he'll win, but he'll provide some entertainment value along the way.

My two front runners at this point are Josh Foss and Adriana. I think Adriana could appeal to a broad audience. Josh's green emphasis gives him a great show concept that's timely and trendy. He'd be easy for them to market.

ROFLMAO!!! All I can say is 'ditto'! That gal was worse than 'clueless,' IMHO.
Further, the egos presented seemed to dwarf some of those for AI, SYTYCD, or LCS. Wow. The emphasis (according to the previews) was on finding a "triple-threat" person...but those making the interviews were mostly NOT those. How many said they'd never used a saw before????? What's with that?
I don't have the names down yet, but I liked the two Bebo mentioned and the lady from NYC and the one (w/the funky glasses) from PA.
Have a feeling there will be plenty of "drama queens" on this one. Eagerly looking forward to it!

I really like this show.
I loved what Kim and Scott did with the pit/dining area. The quarter-pipe didn't do anything for me, but my son would like it if we had a ramp of some sort in the house that he could skate on.
I really disliked the paint job around the bar/stairwell area, especially at the top, where it looked like that was as far as that designer could reach, so she just stopped.
I wasn't impressed with the car door as art. But then again, I wasn't impressed last season with the vacuum cleaner as art. YMMV. I also didn't care for the pillows Robb and Organic Josh purchased. I get that that was all the store had, but sometimes its better to do without if you can't get anything good.
I loved, loved, LOVED Sparkle Josh and Will's bedroom. I just thought that was gorgeous.
Didn't like the other bedroom that the two women did.
I would have liked the entrance way ReverseSkunkHair did, if she had left the seating area out of it.

I am pretty much on the same page as you! The dining pit and the large bedroom were awesome! I also loved the space above the dining pit where you can just relax. Sparkle Josh and Will were fabulous! Those two and Scott are my current favorites. Kim and skateboard guy (forgot his name) are OK too.
At this point, I don't think Organic Josh, Robb or the bar lady (forgot her name) have a shot in heck of winning this thing. The other two women that did the small bedroom were totally clueless and really sucked at working together and merging ideas.

Well, Sparkle Josh & Will have my vote!! I think the two of them would make a fantastic show. Their room had class, taste, creativity, and looked "posh." Loved it!
The dining pit was good; kudos to Kim, Scott, & the blond guy whose name I don't remember.
All the others reeked and can go NOW, IMHO!! I rather felt sorry for Lisa; I didn't think she did half as poorly as the gal who did the bar area. "No bar stools in Las Vegas"!!!! They should have booted her on that comment alone!

Damn it. After the first ep, I was prepared to hate Sparkle Josh. Then I got worried when he paired up with Will, whom I have to cheer for as a fellow North Carolinian. Then I was pleasantly surprised to see the two of them work well togther, and add me to the list of folks who lvoed their room.
Organic Josh let met down. I thought he'd do better, and he was so quick to get sucked into the blame game. The bottom three were the three I expected to be at the bottom of the heap, and I hope Neeraja goes next. I wouldn't cry if it were Robb, though, because he annoys me.
