I have a wireless phone, but I have never used it. That being said, I think THOSE voters are who really have the biggest impact on the show when all of the phone lines for all of the contestants are full.

Last season, I tried to use my AT&T Wireless phone to vote. In the earlier rounds, I had an easier time getting through than on my regular phone. But as the season rolled on, I had a harder and harder time using my cell phone for any calls during that 2 hour span, because the lines were clogged. I'd pick up the phone and see no signal or roaming.
'Course, I'm from Clay Aiken's hometown, so that may have contributed to the problem.

I dont think the signal would get affected by the lines being overused, you would get a message like all circuits busy or something like that.
