"american idol no more"
this has to be the most controversial show ever. judges push votes for the big lipped high pitched squeeky voiced b-tch with a stage name(like her mother really called her fantasia). funny how all the ones with real talent got voted off. the 2 that should have been finalist are latoya and jennifer. only a fool with no ears would vote differently........

What are you talking about. You maybe right about La toya but I hated Jennifer. She could not sing.Fantasia is the right one to win.So you need to speak what you know. Then Diana is third place.

About tonight....Jasmine PLEASE GO AWAY. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. Just like Simon said, "you have the unbelievable support from Hawaii. But for me, it HAS to end tonight." Please don't vote for her.

GO FANTASIA. She did excellent. Diana did very well also. I like Fantasia a lot but so do the judges. They think she is the best also. I will be ok with Diana or Fantasia winning. But not Jasmine.

42. "Comment"
So you need to speak what you know.

Britneyfan04, there is only one way that this comment would be acceptable: if you are a music professional, especially in A&R. I presume you aren't. So don't try to imply that you "know" how the contestants should rank, while someone else doesn't.

You are entitled to express your BELIEF as to how the contestants should rank -- but not to say that you KNOW.

AyaK. Apparently you missed the Memo, but Britneyfan has been made the clearhouse for musical knowledge. We can now empirically declare a winner instead of arguing about silly opinions.

After all, the name britneyfan are the only crendential she needs in my book.

LAST EDITED ON 05-18-04 AT 10:24 PM (EST)

Fantasia just rubs me the wrong way. I cannot stand her gangsta personality, her total lack of humility (yes she HAS improved), her lack of undergarments and her cartoon voice.

Is she the best singer in this very weak competition? Probably. But is she the American Idol? Not to me. Personally, I wouldn't be happy if my kids had a poster of her on the wall. No offense, but I simply don't like her for a whole multitude of reasons.

That being said, please do not let Jasmine into the final America.

I like Jasmine and it is who you think would make the best American Idol. Take a look around at those who are great idols now and in the past. Only a handful are great singers. With the right songs and time to rehearse and record (not just a couple of days) Jasmine would be a gorgeous American Idol.
I don't like Fantasia's attitude and Di is unquestionably great but Jasmine is the one I'd like to see take the crown.

don't judge by the look or personality alone. jasmine is cute, isn't she & she even has a sweet personality. though i'm purely asian, i didn't see anything so good about that asian looking girl's overall performance. she wasn't consistent. sometimes ok, sometimes not ok. she could sing beautifully most of the time but out of tune.

diana was most of the time consistent & her voice was all the time powerful. the dancing thing was't that great but her voice made up the deficiency & i just admire her & i want to see her win.

fantasia's voice is unique but i sometimes think that her voice doesn't make a song sound good. she can sing for a comedy movie or a cartoon series. her personality, oh dear, i'd give her 2 out of 10, fail!!

la toya was better but too sad to see her go this early.

let's vote for a TRUE IDOL who sings & dances well besides a great personality.

If I was going to vote on that (I'm not voting anymore) then it would be Fantasia. I'm going to break it down.

Fantasia: sings great, dances pretty good, great personality

Diana: sings pretty good, can't dance to save her life, sugary personality

Jasmine: sings bad, dances okay, seems to have a sweet personality but comes off as fake to me

I think you have "gangsta" mistaken for country. There is nothing hardcore about her other than the fact she can sing her a$$ off. She will not be the first entertainer with a "diva" attitude or child out of wedlock.

Living in Texas and having to listen to country all the time, I don't see that at all. However, my point wasn't about her sound, it was about her attitude and demeanor. At least that's how she comes across to me.

I just had to reply to this. I tried to keep on going but I couldn't. I am in the military and I am from Atlanta and now live in Killeen, TX. I have lived on every coast and overseas. When someone says Fantasia is "Country" and not "Gangsta" they are not talking about cowboy boots and "yeehaw" country. They are talking about collard greens and black eyed peas country. Being brought up in a jump up and sing, catch the holy spirit baptist church. Talking with a southern accent. Fantasia is definetly country. When I see her it reminds me of home. Thats one of the reasons I like her. She is definitely not "Gangsta". Tupac was gangsta. Ice Cube is gangsta. You could even say Eve is gangsta. There is nothing about Fantasia that makes you think about the "streets".

OK. Stepping gingerly onto this limb, but for me it is about her attitude, her clothes(and lack of undergarments), her style of speech, her unmarried motherhood and the angry undercurrent that I percieve when she is talking - all reinforced by the cheering section that they show in the audience. She just comes across as a thug to me.

I can see the cries of "racist" in the back of some of your heads, but the only other contestant that I would put into that catagory was Kory(?) from last year who ended up being arrested for attacking someone.

This is my perception and I apologize in advance if I offend, but I like to be straight up for what it's worth.

It was Kory and he was arrested for beating his sister.

I don't know that I'd class her as "gangta" but she definately has bad attitude written all over her. That and she comes from the plante earf and she's scared to deaf. Just me but I like people who are able to make the "th" sound.

I'm not going to say you're wrong because we are all allowed to have our own opinions, but that's not the what I've always understood "gangsta" to mean. It's usually used in reference to gangs, violence, drugs, criminal activity and stuff like that. I don't think being an unmarried mother has anything to do with it, would you call a white unwed mother gangsta? I've never heard that term used in that way. I also don't see her as angry either, she seems pretty happy to me most of the time. I don't think you're being racist either. I also don't see her as a "thug". When Gangsta is used to describe rap here's what it means:

Main Entry: gang·sta rap
Pronunciation: 'ga-st&-
Function: noun
Date: 1991
: rap music with lyrics explicitly relating to urban gangs, violence, drug use, and the degradation of women

I would imagine that using the term Gangsta to define a person would have a similiar meaning and I don't think it fits Fantasia.

I think that Fantasia has been given a bad rap about her attitude because she joked with the judges when they gave her bad remarks a few times. Some people are way over sensitive, I think she has great character and a star personality, because she jokes with the judges and some people don't have a sense of humor does not make her gangsta or even close. While I will agree that I don't find the tone of her voice that appealing I love her ability to feel so comfortable on the stage and have a good time. Jasmine can't get through one song without going flat, she has a beautiful tone to her voice but needs a lot of work on pitch and keeping in tune before she should be deemed an American Idol. Diana is a powerhouse but at 16 needs just a little refinement and a couple years to get rid of the bubblegum act and she will be great. My vote is for fantasia to win.

If Fantasia has a bad attitude and is all that, what of Simon's attitude?

I have seen Simon disrespect people and say things on national television about a person that two girls would be embarassed to utter in the confines of a bathroom.

Paula Abdul has been seriously compensating for Simon this season. There is no need for him to demean people like he does in the context of the show.

By some people's definition, one could call Simon a gansta.

Agreed. I used to hate him and think that he was so rude, but now I find myself agreeing with him 90% of the time. There are certainly times that he could temper the blow, but SOMEBODY has to bring some reality to this show. I would guess that is EXACTLY what people who actually audition for a record label would be exposed to.

when you look at fantasia you think about the streets, well when you were looking at her singing in the baptist church what did you think? I mean i dont think its possible for you to think of the streets when you here her sing in a church but if that is the case than i hate to hear what you think of when you look at Mother Teresa or when you look at photos of our blessed mother Mary Fantasia you are a great singer and dont pay attention to all of these people who are extremely jealous of you and what you have accomplished. God looks at you and he does not see the street he sees someone who is responsible for singing his prayers and sending his message that you can do anything you want if you try... God Bless You

I agree with Kim here. I don't think she sounds country at all, more of a gospel on helium quality to her voice.

Speaking of trashy, I swear, when Fantasia was singing her second song (the one where she pranced through the audience) I thought she was going to give Clive a lap dance. Ewwwwww!

I think the Idol controversy can easily be solved by having the voting take place online...Survivor gave away a million bucks based on an online vote, Idol should be able to do the same with a recording contract and "Idol" status. For one thing, I think they need to raise the stakes and give a much better prize to the winner of the show...the Idols now don't even seem to be concerned about winning, they're all happy to have gotten this far and don't seem to be cutthroat about making it to the end.

Also...personally, I feel that this season was a huge disappointment. I think George and Jennifer had a much greater potential to have done better, but thanks to the voting scams and George's illness, neither of them had a great chance to make it. Fantasia, Latoya, and Diana are great talents.....but to put it into perspective, would any of them be able to make their way into the top three against Ruben, Clay, and Kim Locke? I'm not too sure...although I'm disappointed with Ruben post-Idol, he did a great job during the competition. I think FOX's biggest problem will be finding the right kind of talent for future shows, not the voting scam.

There are problems that can come up in on-line voting also.

Programs can be set up the automatically vote for a contestant and then keep on recasting a votes for the same person, they could vote thousands of times in a two hour period. This is hardly fair to the average guy who could maybe vote a one or two hundred times in two hours.

Additionally, there is still a significant portion of the population that does not have access to the internet for online voting. This would result in the poorer social-economic class of people without internet access, not getting an equal chance to determine an American Idol winner. This would probably hurt the show's ratings unless phone voting was also continued.

Any chages in votung need to be well thought out, but I agree their are obvious flaws with the present voting system.

I agree with you and Breezy, she was OK last night but she missed the big note in "the Greatest Love of All" - just totally missed the biggest note of the song. She was sharp several times last night (as were all the contestants). She was still probably the best singer, but that is not the only thing that matters. She was definitely not "flawless" in any of her songs.

It's a shame, there are no contestants this year that even vaguely measure up to Rueben, Clay or Kimberly L.

I think the judges are a bit nervous that Fantasia is going to get voted off, much like Jennifer and LaToya in previous weeks. The only way they feel they can prevent this is to put down and criticise the other two in the hopes of swaying votes. Not that Jasmine sang the best but there was nothing wrong with Diana's performances. Fantasia was good also but in no way was she as good as the judges comments implied. It was an obvious attempt to get her much needed votes. She has been in the bottom group alot, hasn't she?

If the judges have 3 people to critique, and one of them far outshines the other 2, why wouldn't they really give her the kudos she deserves for doing so? Maybe Fantasia didn't rank in Whitney Houston's or Celine Dion's category, but she did darn good for a li'l ol' country girl who has come a long way from church and weddings. She is genuine, and she can sing.

They can only judge what they've got to work with. Ruben was such a big deal last year, and yet Clay NEVER made it to the bottom 3. Ya just never know, do you?

Simon has gone on record saying that Diana will win, and they have been kissing Diana's a$$ for the past 2 weeks, so I don't think they favor Fantasia over Diana, though they should. Fantasia sings better than Diana in my opinion and she proved it last night, she was the only one that sounded good with the exception of Diana's last song, but 1 out of 3? That's sad.

My guess is they were shivering in repulsion at the thought of a Jasmine/Diana final. "ANYTHING but that!" was running through their minds.

They were probably taking all of Fantasia's performances into account. She's earned a solid reputation, which may have outweighed a less than stellar performance.

Me? I thought she did fine.>

I agree with you that the judges are way overhyping Fantasia. I do not think she was near as good last night as the judges made her out to be, even though overall she was still probably the best of the night.

I never was a Jasmine fan, but I hope she makes it to the final two based on the negative comments she received from the judges. My favorite was George and La Toya, followed by Fantasia.

I think there might be a backlash against the judges choices when the votes are counted.

14. "RE: american idol no more"
Fantasia is probably one of the most talented singers that American Idol will ever get their hands on. Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell know their stuff. You have heard each and every professional sing her praises, Elton John, Quinton Tarantino etc. She can hang with the best of them: Clay, Ruben, Kelly. In fact, I think you will see more of Fantasia then anyone. She has huge range from touching an audience to being about to act and sing. Diana Ross or Whitney Houston probably were the last two singers as versatile as this woman is. Recognizing these qualities are associated with a much older than her years singer. If American idold is about picking a 16 year old then pick Jasmine. She is a beauty. But she can't sing as well and fantasia. Did anyone very think her attitude has to do with keeping herself psyched and competitive? This is a competition. When someone wants to win desparately, they may seem a bit short in comment and thought. She is nineteen for pete's sake. I believe this woman is driven. I believe Jennifer was driven as well. You notice they both made comments. Jen just looked softer.

Diana with coaching has a very bright future. Diana was a shining star each and everytime someone took personal interest in her. She is young but I think Celine can move over for her. Jasmine.. oh jasmine was weak tonight. she can do better than that.

On a final note, having big lips and being called fantasia is a problem. I have big lips and big hips. I don't think that has to do with her screeching but personal preference and I respect your thoughts. Just when I read that stuff makes me want people to think how does it sound to others. And would u do that if the person was sitting in front of u.

And finally, I remember working as a nurse in OB twenty years ago in a major metro area. A women gave birht to two children. She named them Coke and Pepsi. So people have all sorts of names that don't fall into our reality. Coke and Pepsi if you are reading this, it was to make a point. Good early morning! cheri

I agree with a lot of what you said but (and I'm not trying to be mean) the above comment made me laugh hysterically. There is no way that Diana will ever be the star that Celine Dion is. She doesn't have half the talent or charisma that Celine has.

Well sure, let's pick Jasmine because she has a nice name or Fantasia because she is sensitive or Diana because she is cheerful.

Or we can choose the one that has the most talent. And that unfortunately is NOT Jasmine.

The only way Celine Dion will be moving over for Diana is if Diana becomes Celine's massage therapist.
Diana's problem is she only wants to sing songs where she can belt, shout, scream, etc
Those songs are fine and they show talent but after a while those types of songs can drive you crazy. she does not appeal to a younger audience.
I think of those people like Ethel Merman, Kate Smith, Judy Garland eerytime I see her singing and screaming those notes out.
I cannot see her selling a lot of CD's unless they totally change her whole image and try to turn her into a Hillary Duff, Britney, Cristina and she can cater to the young kids.

does an american idol have to be someone who sings excellently like mariah carey & dances excellently like paula abdul? this package is too hard to find, one in a million.

the votes of the UNprofessional judges, so this is what we got. different people different opinions.

but if jasmine wins, it's her LUCK that makes her win the title. she doesn't have a star quality (the others also don't really have but they're just better than she is). i believe she got so many votes not only from the people of hawaii but also the male viewers throughout america.

I think Jasmine has a pretty nice voice. There's a lot of potential. And, yeah, I could see how teenage boys would think she's hot.

Unfortunately, she is frequently out of tune. This is a singing competition and I would think that good pitch would be important. If she won, who would buy her CD only to look at a picture of her? No one would want to listen to it because she'd be out of tune.

She needs to work with a vocal coach and improve her pitch. Then she could come back and compete on American Idol.

And all you Jasmine lovers out there, don't come back and tell me she sings in tune. She doesn't. I'm a musician with perfect pitch, which is why it's so painful to listen to some of these people sing.

Just because I have perfect pitch doesn't mean I don't play some klinkers on my instruments. Having perfect pitch doesn't automatically guarantee perfect playing... (I wish)

However, with perfect pitch I can tell you exactly what note someone is singing or playing. I can tune my violin to concert A without a tuner. And I can recognize when a note is slightly flat or sharp when compared to the accompaniment.

Jasmine is frequently a degree or two under the note she's supposed to be hitting. If the band was also tuned a degree or two under the correct note, then she would be in tune relative to the musicians and it wouldn't bother me nearly as much.

Perfect pitch serves no practical purpose but it's a peculiar power to possess.

It's not possible to pull off perfect pitch if you do not possess it in the first place. If you do not possess perfect pitch, you can prepare and practice to prevent pitch problems.

Providentially, I take much pride and pleasure in possessing perfect pitch.

Perfect pitch serves no practical purpose but it's a peculiar power to possess.

You are right about it being peculiar. I also have it, and it helps me in playing something from the radio or after hearing it only once or twice. BUT it's a great hinderance when things get transposed. (I play keyboards for local pit orchestras, and the director will change keys all the time to match the singers' ranges. They don't rewrite the music, they just say "hit the transpose button." It drives me nuts!)

It's not possible to pull off perfect pitch if you do not possess it in the first place.

The latest research seems to indicate that this ability is genetic, which I've always suspected, since a number of my cousins (and my older brother) also have it.

Hey Minkey - Somehow I missed seeing your question in this thread (wonder how that happened...)

I'm not a fan of Fantasia's yeah, yeahing (although I'm not sure but I think the yeah, yeahs were actually part of one of the songs she did Tuesday - lyrics are not my forte) and, at first, I wasn't a fan of her attitude. I also didn't like that "Macy Gray" quality to her voice.

But she always sings in tune (and I don't care what Simon says, part of it is about singing in tune), she sings with such passion, her phrasing is great, and she has such great control. That "Macy Gray" quality has toned down and I really enjoy listening to her. I'm getting chills right now thinking about her performance of "Summertime". I lvoe her attitude - she's got a great sense of humor (especially her exchanges with Simon the last few weeks). And for only being 19, she is so mature - both in her singing and her personality.

I really wanted to see a Fantasia-LaToya-Jennifer final. That would have been awesome.

Out of all the seasons, Fantasia is the singer who has moved me most. There is something so real, and at times, sweetly vulnerable about her. She takes the risks that the other's don't. Nice to know that she's always in tune!

To all of the Fantasia haters...do not fret. With Paula's comments about her not needing the competition anymore and Clive saying he would sign her if he heard her singing in a basement in Kansas, she's a lock to get the boot tonight. The audience will agree with Paula and Clive. Why vote for Fantasia when she already had the potiential to be a big star and doesn't need to be the AI winner? Needless to say, I voted for Fantasia several times.

And to whoever it was who said that "Fantasia" is a stage name, I'm sure it's not. I know a Fantasia, a Star, a Melody and even a Madonna for that matter and none of those chicks are in show business.

The only thing this season has done for me is show me America has a perverse sense of humor (I knew that already). Some of you quit caring when Jennifer left, I quit caring when Johnny Red stayed weeks after he was overcooked. I've used the rest of the season as a comedic experience. The look on the judge's faces when the best singers hit bottom two is hilarious if you don't have a personal preference. Watching Simon have a fit will make my season if Jasmine wins.
They need to enable internet voting, it would help with the phone line problem. But people can still cheat.

Time will tell.
I liked Fantasia when this started but now her voice grates on me, that does not mean I hate her but it does mean if she was on the radio I would switch stations or put in a CD that I like.

If she sells a lot of CDs that is great for her but I think she will have a limited audience.

IMO this is very poor final 3 but then there was not much to pick from.

Fantasia was better then most in this group but not really that great overall.

Fantasia is her real name. Her mother named her after the movie.

Idiot tourists? Are these the same people who bring in millions of tourist dollars to poor Hawaii year after year? For any non-Hawaiian resident, there must have been an idiot tourist in your history, huh? (Unless you just happened to float over there on a breeze or dropped by a long-flying bird?) Just askin'.

(We gotta b*tch or we'll explode!)

Hmmm, only tourists can be non-Hawaiian residents? WTF!
Try military personnel, we sure as hell ain't tourists! Although we have to look at your white tourist butts on the beaches just as much as "real Hawaiians"! (Which is, according to idolgossip, anyone who has never been a tourist).
But hey that’s the price you pay to live in paradise! I’ll put up with the tourists who think they own the place to have the utter joy of 80-degree winters!

*Joyful loves tourists...really!!! She just thinks that the majority of them should stay in Waikiki and NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE!!!!*

I persopnally think they have chosen their winner and it probably will be Diana and not Fantasia.
I think if she does win it will be because she was Miss Teen Georgia, she was a finalist in the "America's Most talented kid", etc. etc. and she probably knows a lot of people.
I think Fantasia is very talented and was great last night (does better on upbeat songs) but she is not what you would call "The American Idol" image. I am not bashing her I am just saying what I have heard and read. She is an unwed Mother of a 2 year old and she is 19 and she has no High School diploma.
You heard her say before Idol she stayed home and ate.
However, I do believe that those judges and live Davis think she is the best and therefore, last night they were assuring everyone that don't worry about Fantasia becasue win or lose she is going to be a star. I think they wee softening the blow.
Fantasia seems to be the kind of performer that either people love her or they hate her, there is no middle ground.
Too many references were made Monday night and last night
about Fantasia and win or lose and she kept saying even if I don't win and last night, Paula said she did not need the competition anymore and if I am not mistaken did Paula say those same words to Tamyra, Trenyce and Clay???? Not once did anyone say it to Ruben.
I could be totally wrong but at this point I don't see anynone but Diana winning this competion and that is not based on her talent alone..

I don't think that the judges or Clive think that Diana is the best, what they probably think is that she is easy to mold. Fantasia is who she is already and Diana is just a robot, you push a button and she sings what you want.

Hey SheDevil,
I don't think I worded what I said right, I agree I think the judges believe that Fantasia is better but her image is killing them right now. So last night they wanted her fans to know that she will be a big star.
You know whaat is funny, its called American Idol yet each year now they are telling the people with talent how much better they can do other then becoming the American Idol..
Oh I think Diana comes from a wealthy family if she has been in all those contests and I think her Mother pushes her on.
I may be wrong but I see her winning and lets face it, week after week she has either been first perform or last to perform.
I guess they will let Fantasia and Diana go on to the finals because I have a feeling if Fantasia went home tonight and Jasmine stayed, there be more rioting in Los Angeles.

What talent are u talking about? Diana doesn't have enough talent to become American Idol. She can hit high notes well but other than that, she has nothing to back up what you say her would-be title.
To me, none of the three has the right to take the title but if somebody has to, it should be Fantasia.

"To me, none of the three has the right to take the title but if somebody has to, it should be Fantasia. "

I agree completely. Of course there's always people out there who think one of the others should win and that could and will be debated until we're all blue in the face. However, I haven't heard anyone, except maybe Elton John (someone can clarify) say that they would sign Diana or Jasmine and we've had almost everyone say that Fantasia could get signed easily. Now, this could be b/c they (AI Folks) are pushing a Diana win...I hope not, but I'd be okay with it. It's almost like they're preparing us...letting us (the Fantasia fans) know that there is hope for her.

What I didn't quite understand last night was that Jasmine got alot of criticism last night...even more so than the other night when she collasped in Ryans arms crying...but last night, she was all smiles and said, well, that's alright. No tears or anything. I guess I'm just of the opinion that she seems too bubblegum for me.

Just my 2 cents....

BTW, Shedevil....I have totally enjoyed reading your posts and agree with most that you have posted. You make me smile.

Well thank you Hunnie, it's nice to know I make you smile. *blushing* I was going to mention Jasmine's lack of tears tonight but I just figured she's so conceited that she's thinking she's got the title already. It really seems to prove to me that the posters, including myself that said her tears were fake, were right on the money.

I *heart* posters that can read.

Fantasia's appeal is going to be to the people who enjoy motown and like an entertainer. The girl has it going on. She can sing slow. She can sing fast. And she can sing with her own style. I akin the woman to a mariah carey. Mariah grates on some peoples nerves while others love her.

But arethra Franklin.. Respect.. fantastia.. all I can say is fantastic. Clay, kelly and ruben all had that uniqueness too. But it fell on a different audience with each. You hardly hear a thing about Ruben. yet he has been nominated and recieved many awards for the category of music he works best in. Now his voice the " velvet dog" was nothing short of amazing. But I would think Kelly and Clay had blown him out of the water. they haven't. Just not everyone is int he audience he influences. I don't think Fantasia's record sales will ever be poor. The proof is in the pudding. There are plenty of the 30-50 year old set that will be buying her music as well as he gospel set of musical buyers. Who would have ever thought Enya to be so large, but she is.

Diana is a kid but I like her. I have worked as a coach my entire life and I see a bright future for a kid who can learn like this one to respond to coaching. And she certainly doesn't appear to be a primadonna being miss teen usa or whatever. In fact, I think the stress in the beginning overwhelmed her. But she is fine. She doesn't have a wide range of good. So those who love her will love slow and high note ballads. I wish i could hold a note that long. ( only in the shower when noone can hear) ha.

Jasmine.. well there are plenty of loungues in Oahu that need entertainers. She will be an island favorite. good evening

I have to disagree on the "you hardly hear a thing about Ruben". He is actually very much on the scene. He is in the Scooby Doo 2 movie. His single Sorry 2004 still gets airtime and its May. He just completed a making the video on BET for his second single. Last month I saw him on a black sitcom "One on one" on UPN. He was in about three scenes which is more than a walk on. He was nominated for a Grammy, and performed on the Soul Train music awards.

Im just pointing this out for those who say he isnt doing well. Maybe it appears that way because Some do not fall into the audience that they are marketing him toward. From where I am sitting he is doing very well, as is Clay. Between the two of them I think they have covered a large part of the country. Pretty succesful outcome for AI2.

For those who say Fantasia wont be successful. She quite possibly wont crossover.(do they still use that term) However, she will go platinum in record sales in whatever audience they target her album toward. IMHO

hence the point of my message, not to say Ruben was unsuccessful. I think he is tremendously successful. I think audience reach can be different for each and every singer. I love Ruben's voice. I remember waking my husband up to listen to him. I'm like I don't know who this kids is but OMG he can sing.

fantasia can sing. Jennifer could sing. La Toya could sing. George Huff could sing. Diana needs to mature. I hope all of them do well post competition.

Fantasia is a clear cut winner in this. But lets see how it goes.

cheers!

I am surprised by the people saying that Fantasia was just average on Tuesday night. Quite frankly, she blew me away -- I thought she was absolutely amazing. She knows how to work the audience, groove on stage, make a song you've already heard a thousand times before sound *interesting* -- whereas Jasmine and Diana just sing imitations of the songs they choose. Even the Whitney Houston song, which was a horrible pick for poor Fantasia, she pulled through with flying colors.......but the first two songs were just incredible. Her pitch and voice control are always spot on. And she's fun!

I really hope Fantasia wins this competition. Diana is good, but not great yet. Her voice and stage presence are too immature -- I think she'll really be something in a few years, but for now she's still feeling her way. She definitely has an incredible voice, but it needs work and discipline. Fantasia is already there and beyond.

I don't think Fantasia's attitude is "gangsta" --- I've also heard people refer to her as "ghetto" --- I think it's more obvious that she is "southern." The word "country" does make people think of cowboy boots and yee-haw --- but Fantasia with her collard greens and pigs feet and chitlins and Nawth Carolina accident is pure southern gal. She hasn't had an attitude problem since way in the beginning of the show. The judges were right to hype her because she's the most interesting, innovative singer left --- the other excellent singer of the previous week, LaToya, was definitely a fantastic singer, but was completely void of personality or individuality, unfortunately.

Go Fantasia!!

Hey shanana, you put that really well! I will just "ditto" you here.

I have grown to really enjoy and appreciate Fantasia - don't love every single thing she does or sings, but do love a lot of it, and always dig the personality and moxie she brings to it.

She'll be keeping busy no matter what. Probably better off without the actual AI title, frankly.

Watching the show Tuesday, I thought "AI needs Fantasia at theis point more than Fantasia needs AI."

You may be right. But it would have been so much more interesting if Jasmine would have been in the finals. The judges and those that did not care for her would have gone ape. The ratings would have been unbelievable, also.

I personally liked La Toya and George, but after the way the judges tore Jasmine apart last week. I was hoping she would make it to the finals to piss Simon, Randy, and Clive off.

Now no matter who wins, it will at least not be a shocker.

Don't be a hater!!! No one deserved that title more than Fantasia. You can't deny talent!!! The girl is cold!!! I don't usually watch American Idol but one day I was walking past the TV and it was on. She just happened to be singing and I said, "If that girl doesn't win, some body's lyin'!!"

Now I agree that LaToya and Jennifer should have been in the last of the standing contestants but that only means that Diana and Yasmine should have had to go a long time ago. So Fantasia was in her rightful place. Don't hate on the playa
