Why is it that women always do bad in Big Brother. Every year it seems this way, that a number of women (and good looking ones too) get voted out before anyone else. Hell i'm a guy, if i was in that house. I would get rid of the all the men first

1. "RE: Women not doing well" |
I think, in part, the reason women don't make it all the way is due to their own female backstabbing. Women tend to gang up on each other, pit one against another, and all the while smile to each others faces. Women also use their guile with men to gain control over which female stays. With women, it always is a power struggle within the female group...power in the form of looks, ability to attract men, humor, etc.BUT...a quick disclaimer...I am only making generalizations. Not all females fall into this category. I certainly like to think Red Lady is "legs above" this type of juvenile behavior. Regards, Red Lady

>BUT...a quick disclaimer...I am only making >generalizations. Not all females >fall into this category. >I certainly like to think >Red Lady is "legs above" >this type of juvenile behavior. And that's why you're not on BB (OK there are other reasons too, heh heh). Women can often be the best team players in a workplace or project. Women are used to doing things for other people, and they're often less invested in their personal image (again, these are very broad generalizations). Reality shows tend to cast mostly younger women, who are more likely to be less mature, which IMO makes it more likely that they have problems getting along with other women. Reality shows want people of both sexes who are unusually competitive. And women who are unusually competitive are much more likely to have problems getting along with other women. Men who are unusually competitive are typically used to competing along with other men. It's not so much that women are worse at being team players...it's more like they're worse at being team competitors. That's one of the reasons why I'm glad I played field hockey. But I digress. I think this is less true for Survivor, where the women are more likely to have been involved in something like team sports, and have to make serious team effort with other women at their side in order to survive on a daily basis. I think it's more true for BB, where physical strength and even teamwork is largely unnecessary. In particular, for BB, they like women who are very sexually agressive. That can cause mutual dislike among the women, where among men it's more likely to lead to cameraderie.

"And that's why you're not on BB (OK there are other reasons too, heh heh)." Thank Gawd! I would never subject myself to the torture. Half a mil (more like a quarter of a mil after taxes) just ain't worth it for this old bird! "In particular, for BB, they like women who are very sexually agressive. That can cause mutual dislike among the women, where among men it's more likely to lead to cameraderie." Not to mention HIGHER RATINGS judging by some of the comments made by peeps, T&A sells. Always has...always will! Kind Regards,

Notice how every other sentence out of Josh' mouth is "the women in this house, blah, blah, blah". He just slams women all day long and it seems to be his main agenda to get rid of them.I don't think he likes our gender and I feel sorry for his girlfriend--she must have some serious low self esteem issues to stay with this bozo. I must say... once they get rid of all the girls, I'm not sure I will continue watching the show. Sure Jason is a cutie, but his looks will not be enough to keep me watching Jerry and Josh pretend to be friends or Eric and Roddy throw rubber ducks into a bucket. Gawd I hope someone gets rid of Josh.

Not that I would ever defend Josh, LadyLuna, indeed he may hate women, but do take this into consideration:Those that watch the feeds (or read the transcripts of them on Joker's Updates or other sources) know that Lisa and ChiWhora have been trying to a) get Josh nominated and b) get Josh evicted. Josh also has a legitimate gripe that Lisa and ChiWhora, especially Lisa, have not lived up to their agreements within their alliance, particularly pertaining to voting for Josh when he was up for nomination. Josh has (IMHO correctly) perceived the "girl-vs-guy" attitude that the WOMEN have (yes, the men have it too) and is trying to do something about it... within the context of the game. P.S. LadyLuna, I've noticed in several of your posts how you're that you're really taking up for the women in a, shall we say, philosophical way. That's fine, but remember that this is a game. For example, if I say something negative about Marcellas in the context of the game, it doesn't mean I'm a racist or a gay-basher. "Pappy didn't get voted off, he got stoned!" -- dabo*** Contradictions don't exist. If you are faced with a contradiction, check your premises. You will find that one of them is wrong. -- Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

Hi, may I join in this discussion? You all make some very interesting points. I was thinking as I watched Amy light a cigar, share a cigar, throw back the booze and, generally, be ''one of the boys'' how different she was from Chiara who swings way over to the other side in trying to prove that she is ''all woman.'' Amy would become very uptight around Chiara's sexual outpourings and even, at the end, as she was being interviewed by JC, she sat with her ankles very demurely crossed unlike the others who sprawl or cross their legs provocatively. It was interesting, too, that she became so very close to Marcellus as if he could never be a threat to her sexually and, therefore, with him she was completely safe. Although there was some interest on her part in Robby, I do not think that she was prepared to go as far with him as Chiara has. I feel sorry for her that she was unanimously voted out. A 4-3 or whatever split would have been kinder. Thanks for reading JMHO

LAST EDITED ON 08-06-02 AT 00:05 AM (EST)LAST EDITED ON 08-05-02 AT 04:40 PM (EST) 1. Those of us who don't have the live feeds should just keep our opinions to ourselves cause we have no idea what's really going on. 2. You don't like the philosophical slant of my posts or the fact that I tend to stick up for women. Points taken. 1. There is a live feed forum to discuss "live feed activities". I'm discussing the show. 2. The topic of this thread was: "Why is it that women ALWAYS do bad in Big Brother..." Sounds pretty philosophical to me and a great place for me to defend women if I so chose to. P.S. I understand you are a regular to this board and I am a newbie. I also understand that our opinions and styles tend to differ, but could you kindly back off and let the moderators do their job and moderate me? I've remained respectful and am just voicing my opinions--I'm not sure that gives you the right to tell me what I should or should not be saying. Thanks.
