Okay gang- the lifeboat!!! That was a cool assignment that I found to be a good lesson. Everyone, including Lisa was so stressed that they wouldn't get put on the list, but none of them guarded the list as they would...DING-DING-DING...THEIR LIFE!!! WHOA!

How about Allison jumping on the boat...classic...and then TJ jumping in the water, not sure why.....kind of funny. I had a good chuckle out of it.

If U were dying, who would u save?? Yourself or maybe it would have been better if the hg pulled together and picked the one out of 6 that needed rescueing the most. JMHO but i wouldn't want to be the only one to make it out alive. Who indeed deserved it most? Only the LCs know for sure.... ann

You know, I was sitting there watching it waiting for it to click with one of them and it never did....They got all upset and stressed about SURVIVING at any cost, even their own honor. It amazed me that not ONE of them understood that they didn't have to have a place in that life boat to LIVE.

Is it me, or is this group of HG's dumber than a box of rocks? Iyanla sat in group and GAVE them the answer to the exercise. Yet, when the time came, not one of them could recall it. Sheesh!!!

LAST EDITED ON 10-19-05 AT 07:06 PM (EST)I was under the impression that Iyanla was not "proud" of any of them and essentially they all FAILED the assignment according to Iyanla, including Allison who jumped in at the last minute into a dirty raft to save her life. None of them worked as a team to decide who would be the one who "deserved" to live nor did anyone care enough to demand and make a valid argument as to why they wanted to save their own life. This assignment was very telling of ALL the women by the choices they made. Allison: Passively sat back, looked confused, pouted , was not pro-active in saving her life or anyone else's but in the 11th hour jumped into a dirty boat to save her life when she should have taken a stand and state her case from the very beginning as to why it was important for her to live. Lisa totally didn't get the assignment either, as Iyanla pointed out; if she cared so much about herself she should have fought harder, including guarding the list that she put her name on. She signed her name and walked away "assuming" that it would take care of itself, a true sign of her laziness and not caring about what is important to her. Jessica was too busy to care about anyone else but herself and then when it got down to the wire, she did a sneaky selfish thing rather than discuss it with Lisa or the HG's as to why she deserved to live more than the others. Very underhanded of her to scratch Lisa's name off the list. TJ--not sure what she was thinking when she jumped into the pool with Allison? Jill, another one who didn't demonstrate too much initiative about wanting to save her life. I think she's tired from carrying those bags and indifferent now about her assignments. Christina didn't fight hard enough as a Mother who needed to survive to take care of her child. None of them had any strong enough arguments as to why they should get onboard the boat. Did they not care, or did they not get the assignment??

They did'nt get the assignment. I did find it telling that Christina felt that she, alone should survive, because as she said, (several times), she is young, and a mother. So the others should not, because they were older and child-free?? Give me a break!!! The gall of that girl.

Well I think Christina was just repeating what Jessica and one of the other HG's said that she should have a seat on the boat because she's a "MOM", so I think she took that and ran with it, and that it wasn't her own natural instinct to fight for her life because of her kid. I think she thought that it was what they wanted to hear her say. JMHO.

Wow Christina proved she had survivor skills and would cut anyone elses throat to survive! Thanks Christina for telling us you were more deserving because you were a.) the youngest and b.) she was a mother.Did none of the other women have mothers? Did none of the other women have Significant Others? In her short life what has she done or given to society that would make me choose that she survives? I'll tell you what N-O-T-H-I-N-G! As the SO in my life states: "Unrealized Potential is just that -- Potential." Saying she is going to make something of her life is not an automatic track record of success or a future that is meaningful to anyone but herself. At least TJ and Allison have given back to society... I really can't stand Christina and, in this instance, IV not calling her out for her assumptions that youth and motherhood automatically gives her a free ticket to ride.

I have to agree with Christina on this one. As selfish and unfair as it seems, as a mother she should be saved first. My son and I have such a strong bond, I can't imagine him growing up sane if...... I can't even write it, the thought is too scary. Also, I have no friends or family whom I would trust to take care of him.

I agree with you. It should have been Christina. Having a child in itself doesn't make you special, but think about it...a child depends on you for LIFE. A child is defenseless, whereas a spouse, mother, father, sister, whatever would move on if you were gone. A child cannot especially because she is a single mother. Who knows where his Dad is or if her family would be able to take care of him. If you ask me, she had the most to lose.

I am with you...I didn't get it either. She told them to state their case and made it sound like they had to fight for who needed it more. On the other hand, she congratulated some of them afterwards while scolding them. I was even more confused by her reaction.

I wish the life coaches had clarified the lesson of the life boat. This is what I took from it:1) If you live knowing that you have doomed someone to potentially deadly circumstances is that ok? 2) No one has different value they only choose to diminish or inflate their percieved value based on their past, and, hopefully that is NOT a perfect predicter of future achievements.

My thought was that they would probably all perish because even from the very first group excersise these women have not learned to 1. work as a group and 2. develop a plan. I would have chosen two people who were the most responsible, gave them the provisions and had them go get help for the rest of us. Of course, I would be the most responsible, so I'd get a place on the boat Iyanla looked really good today. Her outfit was becoming, nicely coordinated and fit well. I guess she was trying to impress that fine as$ sailor boy. Lisa irks the sh## out of me and I wish Jill had of hit her with the shovel and they buried her in the herb garden. Of course all the herbs would die, but that's the price... Chris did seem like she was doing the hustle once again during group with Dr. Stan. Everybody picked up on it. Jessica's play ripped me to pieces. Allison should win a Daytime Emmy. www.chocolatesleuth.com---mystery reviews

What should have happened....Each woman should have realized that she was worthy and that they could not pick on "worthiness." Wasn't this lesson taught to them by IV just the day before with the money??? (which I think should have lasted a WEEK because obviously this group is a bunch of slow learners). To write that Christina was more worthy because she was young and a mother - or that Allison was worthy because she was a cancer survivor plays into the idea that some are worthy and deserve worst then others. So Lisa deserved to be molested because she wasn't as worthy? So Allison deserved to get cancer because she wasn't as worthy as Christina or Jessica - being younger? No that's not how the game works. Reality check - none of us are gods of goddesses; we don't get to decide who lives and dies. Who is raped and who is not... who dies in 9/1212 or NOT... It is a not a "choice" but happenstance... luck... fate... chance whatever! 1.) All decide they are worthy and that you cannot select on worthiness factors. 2.) Come up with a manner to select based upon impartiality and as a group such as long-short straws or selecting numbers or something. Christina and Allison would have been the ones grabbing lifeboats on the Titantic, leaving most of the other passengers behind as they floated off half-full.
