If you really listened in between Dan's spitting, he had some valid points. Such as the 15 of the 19 airplane hi-jackers came from Saudia Arabia, so the U.S. ends up invading Iraq. And he stated he felt he had to shout because he didn't think she was listening. Dan was 17 a teenager, Cheri was 30 or 31. She was basically shouting as well atDan and not listening. I think it would have been more productive for Cheri to have used a more constructive dialogue and conversation. For example, when Dan said, "Jesus was just a carpenter who talked a lot. I would have said directly back to Dan, then if Jesus was only a capenter, then why are we talking about him 2,000 years later. I don't know of too many other capenters that make that much impact, unless of course there is something more. I think most people really disliked Dan because of his obnoxiousness behavior and also really because of his personal views. People, especially in discussion groups hated his views about war and his proclaimed hate for the U.S. For me, Cheri lost all of my respect when she said a woman's place was at the heel of a man. Since when should women be compared on the same level to cigarette butts?! That type of thinking (maybe 50 to 60 years ago) got many women battered or killed in bad marriages and relationships. That is by far the stupidist thing said in the show...and it was said by a so-called adult! She by far trumps Dan as far as stupidity!
