"No-boot episodes coming up!"
Well, we've been following The Amazing Race for 5 weeks now. It started with 11 teams. 6 are left. That means we should have 5 more episodes, right?

Wrong. There are 8 more episodes, according to the The Amazing Race website on CBS.com; the last episode is E13. How can this happen when there are only 6 teams left?

Apparently, there are three episodes when TAR doesn't boot a team. The TAR web site basically confims this:

>>>>PIT STOP: The end destination for each leg of a race, at which point a Team must "clock in." The last Team to arrive at most PIT STOPs is eliminated from the race. A Team will leave the PIT STOP at the same time they clock in, only at the opposite time of day; for instance, a Team that clocks in at 9 am will leave at 9 pm.<<<< (emphasis mine)

My guess is that we get down to five teams, and then lose one every other week -- until we get to the last two teams. If that's right, then we'll lose a team this week (in E6) but NOT next week (in E7). Anyway, I think we have 2 months of TAR remaining.

I read everything you said, but according to me (before you said this) there would only be 4 episodes left. There are 3 teams in the final bout, not 2. But since I read this I am amazed, and find it hard to belive. Time will tell.

Yes, according the TAR website, we have eight episodes left. Losing one team every other week would make sense then--that little "most" qualifier is very tricky! Now I wonder if the teams know that they won't necessarily be eliminated every time. My guess is probably not, as it would change the race pretty dramatically otherwise. I'm intrigued to find out what happens now.

Don't like it at all. Where is the consistency? Makes me want to not watch except for every other week. This can't be a smart ratings move. didn't like it when the Love Cruise pulled this either. UgH.

I think Big Brother started it. And we're all aware of the smashing success that show was ;)

I hope they don't do this. I like the fast pace of the show. Dragging it out will weaken it too much.

I like the show, I think I've said that. But I am damn distracted just now and this news is not ok by me! EIGHT MORE? Keee-RIST!! I want the Festers to win and if they won next ep I'd go away satisfied. *mumbles "eight more" and shuffles on down the road to nowhere.....*

The other thought is that they'll have longer, more complicated legs and break them up in to multiple episodes. There's a lot of things they aren't showing us. With fewer teams we may see more action and not have a pit stop every show. Imagine the cliff hangers, that could produce. Will Team Guido finally be elimanted, tune in next week to find out for sure.
