Is she promising something for everyone?

No, wait -- that's Trishelle.

She is a seriously messed up little lady.

I can't blame her, since her illness has probably gotten her a lot of attention in life.

She seems to have a bit of Munchausen's going on with the sick sympathy.

I mean if it is true that big things freak her out, how did she fly out to interview for the show?

In fact, wouldn't cities be a source of anxiety, with those tall looming building things?

Hard to watch her smoke so much when she has CF.

Hey, don't think I'm weird, but I swear I've had that same phobia
before. I even called it my "fear of big boats." I was also afraid of anchors when I was younger too. There's something creepy about chunks of metal and their intersections with water--and that's exactly what my phobia was-- I wasn't afraid of being hurt by the boats and not afraid of drowning, so the "phobia" makes very little sense.

All I know is that I HATED thinking about anchors, the chains that connect to anchors, or big big boats-- like steamliners or huge cargo ships. It was funny to watch Frankie shield herself from seeing them because I used to do the same thing (not NEARLY as seriously though-- I could tolerate seeing them; I just got really creeped out.)

I have taken a cruise before though, so I guess I'm over it. I don't think it's a Munchausen thing with Frankie, because this actually seems like a semi-legitimate thing to be freaked out by, but I'm sure that's just because I was in the same boat.

Ha, ha get it?

Edited to add:
Do you think Frankie and I were both killed on the Titanic in previous lives?

What you don't understand though is that if you could tolerate them, but only get creeped out, you weren't experiencing a phobia.

See how easy it is to self-diagnose?

*peace*

I don't think it matters whether it was a technical phobia or not-- you missed the point and took what I said too seriously.

Self-diagnose? Come on, give me a break.

Read posts for what they are instead of playing a semantics game. We'll all have a lot more fun.

Ok, I'm not knocking anyone for any phobias. I know there are some strange one out there. I too have a couple of strange phobias. HOWEVER, why would you agree to to a show in San Diego if you are afraid of boats. It's pretty common knowledge that San Diego is on the ocean, which is a large body of water, which is where big boats are gonna be. Would you go to Idaho if you were afraid of Potatoes? It just seems strange to me.

That's exactly how I see it too.

Rational people don't place themselves in harmful situations unless they have something to gain.

You're right on target.

Although I agree that is is a strange phobia, maybe they picked her for that exact reason. Maybe it's supposed to help her overcome her phobia. Just a thought.

Although a nice thought, and don't get me wrong I like nice thoughts, but, this is MTV. No chance they are trying to help her. They are trying to exploit her. Helping people doesn't make for good TV. Exploiting makes for great TV. I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up leaving the house early. She did great yesterday but what happens when she is out there sailing away and up comes a cruise ship. I don't think she is going to be able to handle it.

I didn't mean that MTV was trying to help her. They wanted her for the reason she had a boat phobia. She maybe accepted knowing that to make herself get over her own phobia. Kindof like putting yourself on Fear Factor even though you couldn't tolerate having spiders crawl on you. Maybe she is trying to suck it up for herself.

I do think from a preview or something that she is the one to leave the house early.

The fact that you took that defensively means you got my point, and were a bit embarrassed.
Phobias are serious. If you want to have an immature discussion about them, I suggest you try mtv.com

Don't copy my sigpic and paste it into your messages, Irene. I don't want credit for the stupid inanities you post.

No, I'm not embarassed by using the word phobia lightly. Yes, I do understand that actual people have actual phobias. I also understand that when someone puts "quotation" marks around a word she is implying that she knows she isn't actually talking about a "phobia." Now leave me alone.
