Are they paid anything while the show is taping? Meaning are they given a weekly salary while still on the show. We heard that they are given some kinda clothing allowance. "RE: Salary" I think they are referring to the prize of winning the record contract. The big brass ring is a metaphor that originated with the Carousel, which had a brass ring hanging from the roof. People would try to grab the ring as the horse rose up, because if you could touch it, then you would get a free ride. Of course, the ring is placed in such a way that it was unattainable to all but a very few. Seems like a pretty good metaphor for this contest, no?   Top
