As far as the season is concernced, the Edge of Extinction will be a place where players voted out will be allowed to stay for as long as they can. They will have a chance to reenter the game but they won't have to win weekly duels to stay, just endure starvation and total boredom.
So what's in it for us viewers? How much fun could it be to observe people with nothing to do, nothing to say? Well, I'll be looking for some strategy; a player who will do anything to sap everyone else's morale, bringing them down until they decide that it's not worth it anymore. Besides that, the concept has nothing really to offer because it's just a way to protect the four returning veterans just like Redemption Island was designed to protect Rob and RussHole. We'll see how it plays out.
