Because she doesn't WANT to see it so it's easier to give up just before she WINS the race. Like Iyanla told her she keeps looking at the baggage she's carrying "physically" not the baggage she's carrying "emotionally". She's not ready yet to see that she is the cause of her own problems so she continues thru denial to look everywhere else than herself. She's just scared that she won't really like what she sees.

I agree with you mylifeisunfolding (cool handle by the way!). I think she's scared too. Only Jill knows the "depth" of it all, and it's ugly and she knows it so she condemns herself I think. Because there's something she's got to be telling herself. So she's doing what she has always probably done which is "active avoidance" - she's doing something, but not the main thing and denial helps to maintain that until it all breaks down. But I suspect that's part of her "stuff" in how she survives and moves through the world. What I do know is that IV is the right coach for her. If and when Jill finally comes to terms with herself and gets her breakthrough, it will change her life forever. I'm pulling for her. I really am.

I think that is why she is still carrying the bags or pretending she is carrying the bags. If she actually picked them up and carried them around the assignment would be over. I believe Iyanla mentioned that her not carrying them was typical of her not willing to look at her baggage. Her putting them down is as big a part of the exercise as when Lisa messed with her dress exercise; taking it off to go out, putting on a wig and lipstick. Seems like it is kind of the same thing, only watching someone carrying around luggage looks alot worse to us.
