I'm starting to wonder if he's being used as a stalking horse. The car bomb trick was just stupid: if you're that close, you shoot them in the head. But if you make them think they've escaped a trap, motivate them to keep going... Maybe the Sponsors are using Renbe as their means of finding everyone who might be suspicious about what's going on.

I never said it was a good idea.

Figuring out antidotes is easy when you're the poisoner.

Erika can not be part of the Sponsors very easily. Tom's one man: he can't pay full attention to every screen at all times, and I think we can give Erika credit for some sleight-of-hand skills picked up in prison -- how else did the antifreeze get in Joe's food? Smuggling the entire container back to her room, however... that's a strain, and mostly on credibility.

But to have Tom in there as the sole operator makes no sense: one man can be distracted, fooled, or inattentive. (There at least has to be a night shift, right?) So there's a good chance someone's reviewing the feeds off-site -- someone who spotted Erika's action and let her go through with it. It's not as if Joe's in the Sponsors' good books right now, and if they saw her take the poison and the antidote, then they may have been curious as to how far she'd let things go. If Joe died, there goes an operative they didn't want any more. If he lived, then he's really part of the proceedings -- and they can always kill him later. (One of the surprises of the episode was having him in the 'blackmail' photo. Would you release an image of your operative?)
