Looks like FOX wasn't doing their homework....After finding out about his criminal past, it looks like Corey is the next to be booted from the American Idol team. From Entertainment Tonight:'AMERICAN IDOL' CLARK EXPELLED March 31, 2003 | The latest "American Idol" controversy has resulted in the expulsion of finalist COREY CLARK. FOX released a statement Monday afternoon saying, "Corey withheld information about a prior arrest which, had it been known, might have affected his participation in the show." The high-profile FOX show runs a routine background check on all participants, but due to "an error in a police report which misspelled Corey's name, the incident was not discovered." Clark has been charged by the Shawnee County, KS, District Attorney's office with three misdemeanors, including the battery and criminal restraint of his 15-year-old sister. A third count of resisting arrest has also been levied against him. The charges stem from an October incident during which neighbors allegedly called Topeka police after hearing a girl yelling inside the Clark home. After both were questioned separately, Clark was allegedly forcibly placed under arrest. According to the Smoking Gun website, Clark is scheduled to appear in court April 15 and two of his sisters are listed on the prosecution's potential witness list. Unsure about who his replacement will be...could they bring back Julia or Charles? Could they have a wild-card showdown of past performers to have an extra member? Also, with Joshua's departure possibly coming soon, doesn't it seem that the good Lord wants FOX's programming to have a bad sweeps?

OMH !!!!!My personal opinion is that they should bring back Julia or no one at all. Bringing someone who did NOT make the top 12 is unfair. If they bring someone back, Julia is the one that made it further, so she should be it. I hope they just go on with the top 8 though. What is going on with this show?

Katem - I'm torn between wanting to bring back Julia or that bright red haired girl who was so cheerful and had such a nice huge butt. Every week I tried to determine where Julia had her emergency suicide stash - would it be a cyanide capsule she'd pop when they announced her name? Would it be a razor blade discreetly hidden in her beehive hair? The girl is a meltdown case if there has ever been one other than Georgie Bush. And the one with the huge butt? Okay, okay, now it's out in the open - I'm a Big Butt fan! Her personality is great too. Such a pretty smile. Sigh.... That cookie-cutter Mormon girl from Utah could be the next one to be booted, there's a RUMOR going around (I just started it) that she was also married to Emmanuel. Hey, they all look alike, right?

Well, it's not like the show lost someone that actually had a chance of winning.I'm sure that Fox had contingency plans for how they would handle things if Josh got called up that will give them the flexibility to weather this. I don't think they'll bring back Julia as a replacement, and I agree it would be cruel. Speaking of cruelty, I think what's going to happen is multiple recrap episodes during April to stretch the pivotal weeks out until sweeps. You know, "Behind the Scenes of AI2" and "Where Are They Now" kinda shows, where we get a bunch of filler about the remaining contestants or follow around the folks who've already been booted (either in the 12, the 32, or some of the really outrageous ones from the original auditions). They threw some together for Joe Millionaire when that show became big. I think they'll just do the same here. A Bebodacious American

LAST EDITED ON 04-01-03 AT 04:48 PM (EST)I expect that they'll do normal episodes this week and then do something special for next week. Because of Jaered, they had to act at once here ... and they haven't had time to put any specials together yet. April isn't a sweeps month, so some type of recap or special next week won't hurt too much. Everyone who is gone ... is GONE. Oh, and despite my headline on the Josh article, the only way Josh is going to war (Iraq or elsewhere) before he's booted from Idol is if World War III breaks out. Count on it.

20. "RE: Why the record could've been missed....." |
A lot of you have commented on how in the heck could FOX missed his record? There are a number of reasons on how it happened. I used to work for a company that did back ground screening checks for other companies. My company needed three identifers-date of birth, social security number, and the correct spelling of the name in order to verify if that record belonged to the applicant we were screening. I can't tell you how many times we had the date of birth wrong by one date, or the a different spelling of the applicants name and couldn't use the record we found. You wouldn't believe how many people put down false information just so they won't be indentifible. For example say Corey Clark had a record under "Corey Clarke" or something like that it's possible that the record would not have been reported. Also, if the incident happened when he was a minor, then the company can't report it, because records are supposed to be sealed...or something along those lines. Hope this helps!
