54. "RE: Adam Lambert" |
oh! When Randy said, "not a lot of people know that was Jeff Buckley's version of Ring of Fire" I went crazy because WHAT! I've never heard Jeff Buckley sing "Ring of Fire"! Try as I might, I couldn't find it. I just tried again and found this. So I guess what Randy was trying to say on Tuesday night, when he told Adam he sounded like Trent Reznor, what he actually meant was, Jeff Buckley (?). And yes, I can see Adam's incredible vocals being compared to the great Buckley (to an extent). And I suppose, in retrospect, I can understand why he said NIN. Because I suppose I could see Adam recording an NINish album. And also I guess I overreacted when Randy said "current" in relation to NIN because they do still put out music and people do still listen to it (myself included). Trent is extremely talented and totally relevant. So I'll take the comparison. It just sounded bizarre to me at first. Because when I think of what Adam would record, I think of electro-pop. Pop Goes the Camera Kiss and TellI've never had the opportunity to listen to music from The Citizen Vein though so that could be supremely different. And his voice allows him to pretty much do whatever kind of music he wants to. I still want Randy to go away though. "What he does is original, deliberate, and intentional. He knows what he's doing and why. He is so superior to any of the other contestants that he really doesn't even belong there." - Tahj
