I manage a restaurant in Wellesley Mass.
I lost a bartender due to suicide (a very rocky relationship with a woman who lied about him being the father of her unborn child. Truly gruesome and it really sent shockwaves throughout the restaurant.)
Then a server due to a drug overdose. He was actually an ex-employee, but was part of the original crew so a large number of folks were saddened. The injury was caused by an ex-employee whom happened to kick the refrigerator door open and accidentally hit another ex-employee in the head.
Dinner menu changes went through today.
Bar/Drink menus all change this week.
Lunch menu changes next week.
My bartenders are edgy.
My chef is downright zombielike.
We're all holding dearly on to each other for support through this very "full" time of year.
Hopefully, we can all make it through to the point where we all get a vacation. And as GM, I feel obligated to make sure my employees get their rest before I. But my body is definitely telling me to take it MUCH easier.
