realityjunky 53 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Hollywood Squares Square" 04-25-04, 00:36 AM (EST) "I Met TY Pennington" Ty and his team are in my hometown overmaking the home of 8 kids who lost both their mom and dad last summer to heartattacks. They are actually less than a mile from my house. My 9 year old daughter and I are both fans so I tried to think of something out of the ordinary that might get their attention. The locations are always so crowded so I knew our chances of meeting him were slim. Then I remembered I had several boxes of Girl Scout cookies left from cookie sales last month. I'm the cookie mom and always end up buying the leftovers. My daughter already had on her uniform because we had a meeting after school today. When I told her my idea she was excited. Who can resist a pretty blonde girl bearing Samoas and Do-Si-Do's? She wrote a note to leave with the cookies because I told her our chances of meeting him wasn't great. Finding a place to park was the hardest part of the whole ordeal. I'm disabled and can't walk very far. We lucked into a parking spot right near where the barriars were and as soon as my daughter told the security what she had we were directed to a check in area. There was clearly 500-600 people there. We were finally directed to a man who was identified as the "on-site medic". He told us to follow him and we did. He said "Ty is in the motor home. I'll take you there." I was a little shocked how easily we were being escorted forward. We came around the corner and there Ty was with some teenage girls and a dad taking pictures and signing autographs. As soon as he finished with the other girls our escort told Ty that there was a girl scout who wanted to talk to him. I think at first he thought she wanted to sell him cookies. My daughter said "no. I want to give these to you to say Thank You for helping this family." He was real sweet to her. He was being pulled away to do something on camera but I asked for a picture and he complied. He also autographed this weeks TV guide which he is on the cover and I had not taken in the house yet. There was a young pretty woman just inside the door to the motor home and we handed off the cookies to her. I jokingly told her to hide them for a midnight snack for Ty. I was glad that my daughter's first encounter with a celebrity was great. He was kind to her and I guess that's all you can ask. He was actually more slender than he appears on t.v. but Mom was quite pleased with the encounter as well.   Top
