"The O.C."
I watched this last night, and I really liked it. It has the same soapy feel that 90210 had, but it's much more intense. Peter Gallagher is so sexy, and the guy that plays Ryan is too cute!

I hope it lasts, because they've set up some really good plot lines that I'd like to see played out.

Anybody else catch it?

I only watched it because Ashley Hartman from AI was guest starring. It was pretty good. Better than 90210's opening episode. Wish they slowed things down though. It has potential.

L8, you and I love the same shows. So you know I was all over this one. I love it already and I hope it lasts as long as my 90210. The guy is no Dylan McKay, but thats all right.

I can't wait to see where this show goes. It has a lot of potential.

4. "Loved It!"
I'm hooked! I had too watch because I have been seeing so many commercials for it and had no idea what O.C. stood for. Now I know.

Then when I found out that Kelly Rowan was in it I had to watch. She went to high school with my ex-boyfriend and he luved her. I used to hear about Kelly this, Kelly that all.the.time! Incidentally, I find it interesting how Hollywood treats actesses, as she would not even be 40 yet she is playing a 'Mom'. It's true that stuff about Hollywood, you are either an ingenue or a Mom. No other roles for women.

Does anyone else think that Ryan looks like a young Russell Crowe?

7. "A Young Russell Crowe"
LAST EDITED ON 08-13-03 AT 12:22 PM (EST)

If you want to see a young Russell Crowe, did anyone watch MTV's Road Rules Season 12? There was a young guy who came to the show and I swear he could have been Russell Crowe's son! This pic doesn't do him justice, but it's still a pretty good one.

Total Russell Crowe. Also kind of Ed Norton. Can anyone summarize (quickly and doesn't have to be incredibly funny although that's always nice) last night? My boyfriend is 50 and just cannot handle my juvenile taste in tv sometimes so I spared him.

6. "RE: The O.C."
I'm not sure how far you got into the show, but I'll try to give you a quick summary (if I mess anything up, other peeps can feel free to correct me).

Ryan was supposed to go to a group home the next morning and he decided to run away instead. Seth found out and told him he knew of a place Ryan could stay. Marissa caught them leaving and she ended up driving them to the place. It's a model home (very elaborate) that Seth's mom designed for a housing development. The contractors stopped work on it, so it's sat empty.

They moved Ryan in, and stayed there for a while (eating In-N-Out Burger! Mmmm). The next day, Sandy and his wife (can't remember her name) realized Ryan was gone and the police were called to find him. Seth and Marissa went back to the house and then all three of them went out to eat. Lance (Marissa's b-friend) came into the place and starting in on Seth, so Ryan decked him. Then Ryan and Seth took off.

While Seth, Ryan, and Marissa were at the model home, Seth's Mom and Marissa's Dad went there to talk. The kids listened in while Marissa's Dad asked Seth's Mom for a $100,000 loan because he was having trouble in the stock market. Then they also heard Seth's Mom say that new contractors were supposed to come and start work back on the house.

That night, Seth was online buying Rayan a ticket (to Texas, I think) so that he could get out of the area. Sandy came in and told Seth to come driving with him to try to find Ryan. Meanwhile, Marissa was at her friend's party and she wasn't in the mood, so she left and went to the home to see Ryan. She offered herself up like an appitizer tray, but Ryan turned her down since they come from different worlds.

When Marissa went running out of the house, Lance and his buds were sitting out front since they had followed her there. After she left, they went inside to "take care" of Ryan. In the fight that came next, the gazillions of candles Ryan had stupidly lit in a half finished home fell over and started a fire. Ryan was out of it on the floor, and Lance went back in to pull him out. Lance and his buds took off and left Ryan laying in the dirt outside.

Seth's Mom and Dad got the call about the house and Seth fessed up to having Ryan stay there. Ryan was trying to thumb a ride and Lance (feeling guilty for leaving him) picked him up. Lance told Ryan not to say anything about his haveing been there. The cops were now at Seth's house and they were about to question him when Ryan and Lance pulled up in Lance's truck. Ryan apologized to Seth's Mom and the cops hancuffed him to take him in for questioning. Then Lance spoke up and said that it wasn't Ryan's fault. The cops then handcuffed him and they were both led away as Sandy told them to keep their mouths shut until he got there.

Holy crap! I guess that wasn't as quick as I thought it would be.LOL I'm totally hooked on this show. Next week Seth and his Mom go to visit Ryan in jail and some jailbird tries to come on to Seth's Mom. I think Ryan gives him the what-for!

They're replaying last night's show on Monday night, if you want to catch the real thing, Trish.

Thanks very much! I requested a summary and then found yours.
Now, the only thing I am not liking about this show so far is the Bad Girl. Just not hot enough or bad enough. We need a Rose McGowan (since Heather Locklear is just a teeny bit to old now).

I.Heart.The.O.C.! I was just thinking last night how The O.C. reminded me of 90210-but L8, you're right it's much more intense-kinda like 90210 meets Dallas. Bad comparsion, but you know what I mean....
I tuned in by accident, and got hooked right away. I am so addicated to it-I hope they keep showing it twice a week. It's an extra bonus I agree with the point that hte actress who plays Marissa isn't exactly perfect for the role, but maybe she'll grow into it.

Welcome to SB Ginger.

As soon as Ryan got in Lance's truck, I knew I was hooked. Seth cracks me up, and the rest of the characters are interesting. The story doesn't always go where I expect it to.

The actress that played the dominatrix on CSI...Melinda Clarke, I think...who does she play on The OC?

16. "Trivia"
Interestingly enough, both 'Moms' played in the same episode of CSI. Melinda Clarke was the dominatrix and Kelly Rowan played the uptight business woman who dominated her husband in real-life. Coincidence? Same production company?

Anyone watch last night? A little predictable last night...but I guess we all knew he was going to end up living there.
I wonder if this is going to be its normal time slot in the fall? Hopefully it lasts as I hate when I get addicted to a show that ends up getting cancelled!

He had to end up living there because that is the crux of the story. It was almost like a three episode pilot. Just wait until school starts!

I really like this show. I too hate when shows I get hooked on get cancelled...anyone know how the ratings are so far?

I think the casting is excellent. All of the characters are great. Even the evil character (Luke) shows some redeeming qualities and is not like a caricature.

I found this on canoe.ca

The series' second episode was seen by 7.8 million viewers last week, up nearly a half-million from its premiere the week before. In television, it's considered a good sign if the audience doesn't decline from a premiere.

Looks promising...

That's why I like this show - it doesn't fall into the formula storytelling with his character. Every episode, Luke does something that surprises me. And I like that. It also bodes well for that love triangle, since there are reasons to cheer for Luke.

not really sure, he seems to have a soul one moment and squat the next....

btw there are a TON of great sites out there already for the OC...most of them are similar...tvtome.com lists a bunch but this one here (http://www.theocshow.com/episodes.htm) has the most in depth episode summeries of ones that haven't aired yet so far.

On a side note, can I just say that I have totally fallen in love with Seth? I do that. The sidekicks wiht no friends just drive me wild. And he does NOT deserve Summer. At least, not with the way they're portrayed her character but who knows-maybe she'll turn around.

-can you tell i'm addicted?

I'm loving the OC! My favorite character is Seth. I love his dialogue, like last night when he called Holly a barbequetionist. Hee! Ryan is growing on me too, but I wish he wouldn't wear wife beaters. The only characters that I don't like are Summer and Marissa. Marissa looks like she is 40 years old, and she needs to learn how to act.
