I agree, the guy as a Psycho-smile look about him... it'll be "interesting" if we see his "mother" during the trip's home. The guy also just comes off as way too high-maintenance and needy... I was hoping she was setting him up to fall on his face after he was carrying on about "not being worried at all" and she was remarking that "well I can't give everyone a rose." -SB

Russ makes me cringe. I have to turn away when they show flashbacks of his make-out session with Trista. My opinion of Trista goes way down each time she picks him.

folks, you gotta remember that this stuff is very highly edited. nothing is as it seems. there was a long interview with russ on the radio alice morning show (sf bay area) this morning - he seems to be completely different in "reality" than they portray him on so-called reality tv. i'm sure the same is true for all of them, including trista herself (she's no longer a physical therapist in miami, for example, but a tv wannabe in l.a.).

I guess it just goes to show we don't all see people the same way. An overwhelming amount of viewers (including her friends) did not care for Russ. But Trista seems drawn to him. Maybe it was the gift. Give her a present and she will keep the guy around. He has that smarmy look and attitude. I shudder everytime I see him on the screen. But I have to admit I am curious to see his family. What kind of family did he come from?

Totally agree re the ratings and drama. I'm also convinced she knows in her mind the final two will be Charlie and Ryan regardless of what happens on the dates and family meets - she even said pre-rose ceremony that she was sure of two who would make it through. Russ gets dumped in the final 3 - the audience cheers!

I don't doubt she is superficial, au contraire! That's makes it even more baffling! He's not attractive at all compared to some of the good bye boys. I guess she's superficial with bad taste to boot.

Why does she keep picking him? >Low self esteem? Masochist tendency? >Poor judge of character? How about all of the above? I myself would have picked Bob, Rob, or Jamie before Russ. In ep. 2 she said something about "sparks" going off everytime she sees him, so he must have some chemistry w/her that doesn't translate to the camara. Maybe Russ has some strange mind control over Trista. He has her hypnotized into thinking they are this great couple. There is no other explanation for why everyone but her seems to see him for what he is. Take the bracelet off Trista!!!

Trista keeps picking Russ because she thought he had money. Up until tonight's episode he had been telling her that he was an IT Executive, but he finally told her that he had spent the last year writing a book. Sound like Joe Millionaire?

I can't stand Russ. I feel drop kicking him. He's way to femmy. I can't stand Trista either. She's dripping with superficiality. Personally I don't think that she is going for any of the guy's on the show -- she's just thinking of what gigs she can get in LA after the show is over.
