AZ_Leo 3526 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Thong Contest Judge" 07-25-03, 12:19 PM (EST) "Daily Show with Jon Stewart" Apparently there are many of us who feel this is the only place to get TV news these days so I thought I would start a post. His interviews often do get information and points in that no other shows seem to notice. For example, did anyone else catch it last night when his guest pointed out that an Italian tabloid that had the uranium story several months ago refused to print it because it didn't meet their standards? In other words, the Italian equivalent of the Nat'l Enquirer showed higher standards of truth then the writers of the State of the Union? Another I remember was an interview with a journalist who was covering the Iraqi war (I think he worked for Foxnews). Jon asked the journalist about his sources for his stories and the journalist made a big deal of being fair and impartial and getting info from several places. When Jon asked for specifics the journalist said the US Gov't. When Jon asked for any others, he said sources in Kuwait working with the U.S. Gov't. Jon asked again who else and the journalist said that was it. Jon then gave him that great look of disbelief he has.   Top

"RE: Daily Show with Jon Stewart" I think it's the faces that Jon makes when giving the "fake" news. His looks of disbelief, shock, wonder and down right "you've got to be kidding!" are the best. I love it when he interviews people. He makes them feel comfortable no matter what their views, gets good information and still gets a good laugh. I've told Mr.Fleas that if I ever left him it would be for Jon Stewart. --feels that's reasonable   Top

But I don't think "Fake" news is always accurate. Often they do the exact same story the other Cable Networks are doing, they just use Jon's expressions and great pictures and funny captions to show how ridiculous some of this stuff is. And in interviews on serious subjects, Jon asks great questions, not the same old easy ones that other News is doing. I certainly don't get all my information from the Daily Show, but it is a nice addition.   Top

I think it's great that one of them is for their news coverage. Exerpt: He and "The Daily Show" are up for five Emmys next month, and the Television Critics Association gave him two awards last month. I think Jon gets away with a lot of the questions he asks because he's not regular media, he's an entertainer and I think that puts guests more at ease. Plus I live for my daily Moment of Zen. "RE: Daily Show with Jon Stewart" The interviews are generally taped the day before they are to air (there have been some exceptions). If this is the case, her interview was already in the can when the lights went out, as it was to air Thursday. So I expect to see the interview next week some time.
