Hi Karchita: Yes, you are right, I don't know what the practice is for laparoscopy in different countries, and yes, patients do have restrictions, absolutely. But, everyone is different, and every surgery is different. And, pre-existing conditions are different. Some laparoscopic surgery is done here in the US in outpatient surgery, requiring no overnight stay, while other laparoscopic surgery involves alot more and may require a much longer hospital stay. The only point is that everyone is different, some involve less, some involve more.

I never meant to imply that everyone is up and out and is the same. Sorry if it sounded like that! I never thought he would be on that plane if indeed he had surgery, in a couple days, but I am saying it wouldn't be unheard of for someone to travel outside of a week, and perhaps even less....

As it turns out, he had a bacterial infection and they flew him to New Zealand for treatment. So, they did fly him out in that condition.

Sorry you had surgery, but I hope you are up and at 'em now!
