The latest unsavory revelations involve Trenyce, one of the nine remaining finalists on the second season of "American Idol." TheSmokingGun.com has obtained a mug shot photo of Trenyce, then still known as Lashundra Cobbins, stemming from an 1999 felony theft arrest. Cobbins was booked in Memphis, Tenn. on Oct. 6, 1999, but a Shelby County criminal court judge put her in a pre-trial diversion program, allowing her to expunge her record. According to TSG, Cobbins was upfront with producers about her past, so she'll remain on the show. It's been a difficult season for "American Idol," which experienced its first glitch with the news that popular contestant Frenchie Davis once posed for nudie pictures on an adult web site. Frenchie's activities were, of course, totally legal, but the show wanted no part of a possible scandal (seeing as how while she posed for the pictures when she was a legal adult, the site catered to men looking for underage models) and removed all references to Frenchie from the show's website and removed the zaftig singer from the round of 32. Frenchie has landed on her feet, working as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight." This season's second " American Idol" blackeye came when former semifinalist Jaered Neale Andrews faced charges for assault after a November altercation outside a bar, which left a Pennsylvania man dead. Andrews remains free on $5,000 bail. The series of entertaining FOX reality scandals began, of course, with accused wife-beater and non-millionaire Rick Rockwell of " Who Wants to Marry a Multimillionaire." Taheed Watson and Ytossie Patterson of " Temptation Island" raised ethical hackles when it was discovered that they went on the couple-splitting show despite a child. Earlier this year, " Joe Millionaire" faced minor embarrassment over the fetish film past of finalist Sara Kozer, while " Married by America" had to deal with a possible suitor who was already married." http://tv.zap2it.com/news/tvnewsdaily.html?30778   Top

If I were Trenyce and knew that it came out, be upfront with it on the air. Apologize and say it was wrong brak brak brak. Otherwise I agree with Spidey and it will work against her. Do I think she is American Idol material? Yes. Everyone makes mistakes, just own up to it.   Top

"RE: 'Idol' Finalist Has Felony Past" Because she was up front about a felony theft arrest, she is allowed to compete while another contestant koffFrenchiekoff did nothing illegal but was denied that same opportunity? Hmmmmmm. Don't misunderstand. Trenyce paid her debt/served her time/expunged her record and she deserved the chance to compete because she was talented enough to be in the top 12. IMHO, top 3. But I sure would have loved to see Ms. Frenchie given a shot. Interesting double standard that if Frenchie had posed topless after she became a star instead of before, she would have made mucho bucks. You can flash 'em all you want once you get to the top but better keep 'em covered while you're trying to get there.   Top

She claimed that she was 18 when they were taken, but I don't believe that's ever been verified. As you know, there is a HUGE difference legally between porn and kiddie porn.   Top

The post appearing below is one that has popped up on a couple of other boards. I can in no way account for its source or validity, but I did find it somewhat interesting, and it may explain why Trenyce has been allowed to compete. I'm a friend of Trenyce's. Up until now, I have not disclosed this, because I simply have not wanted to answer questions, but most people that have seen my posts know that I'm one of her number one supporters. The real truth is that she was arrested. But it is not what the media is making it out to be. She worked at that store for 6 months, she did a friend, who later became a roommate a favor and gave her a job at the store (within 3 months, Trenyce had become assistant manager), the friend was caught shoplifting and because the friend and Trenyce were roommates, the people at the store felt as if Trenyce had to have known what was going on, so they pressed charges against her too. Her charge was reduced to misdemanor "Diversion" because none of the clothes that were stolen were her size and even this charge was expunged from her record, because she was a minor at the time. These facts have been disclosed to Fox, 19 Management and their lawyers. They are all aware of it and are on Trenyce's side. She was a minor and her only mistake was trusting someone that turned out not to be trustworthy. Anyone that is a Trenyce supporter, please, simply cut and paste what I've said here in other posts, so that people know the real deal. Thank you.
