No, all he had to do was tell them he didn't want to do it. The scene told us he was forced to hold the chicken.
Forcing someone to do something they don't want to do = Bullying.

I would hope that someone can be against cruelty to animals and still eat meat. In every other occasion, the tribe asked around who wanted to do the nasty job. No one was ever forced to participate in the actual killing. Huge difference.
