brvnkrz 20491 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Playboy Centerfold" 04-07-04, 10:45 PM (EST) "DO NOT POST SPOILERS" Obviously bumping the guidelines thread has not worked so maybe a do not post spoilers will. This is the 2nd week I have come over to the boards to check up on the chat from earlier in the day and have been spoiled. Last week I didn't mind but I wasn't expecting this week. Please don't respond to me with a rude comment about if I don't want to know don't come here. This is not a spoiler board. We shuld be able to come and chat about the show without it being spoiled. Please put in the title that it is a spoiler and then please leave enough filler so that it doesn't show in the first few lines. I will try to remember to bump this thread every Wednesday. if you don't have something nice to say, come sit next to me.   Top

Not trying to be rude, but if you live on the west coast and choose to come to the boards after the show has already aired on the east coast, then you risk seeing spoiler info. I know there are spoiler rules, and people aren't supposed to put spoiler info in the title or in the first few lines etc. etc. But seriously, what do you think the majority of people would be discussing on the AI board on results show night ?   Top

I am in EDT, but I could imagine if the only time I had to check the boards was after work, but could never go on the night of the shows because there are always spoilers in the titles and first lines. It's called common courtesy. That's what sets this board apart.   Top

That being said, if people are really bothered by spolier info then common sense may dictate not coming to the boards till after they've seen the show. It's kinda like driving by a football stadium on game day and hoping to not get stuck in traffic because you are not going to the game. It just doesn't work that way sometimes.   Top

I know you aren't trying to be rude, and either am I. However, Webby has posted guidelines for people to follow. One of the guidelines strictly states "do not post spoilers anywhere except for on the spoiler boards or else make it clear that you are posting a spolier" As stated before, discussions go on all day on these boards and west coasters participate in those threads. Myself, I am at a computer from morning time until around 1:00pm. I don't get to get back to a computer until after 6:00pm pst. Am I supposed to not be able to pick up on those conversations because it is too difficult for someone to write the words "spoiler". There are guidelines on this particular board, if people don't want to follow the guidelines or don't like the guidelines there are plenty of other places to go where there aren't any guidelines. The guidelines are one of the great things that set this board above others. if you don't have anything nice to say, come sit next to me.   Top

I wonder if some of the new posters might be pretty young and honestly do not understand what "spoiling" means in this context. The show seems to have a lot of junior high fans. Judging from the wording, I've had the feeling that some of the spoiling posts may be written by folks with a lot more youth on their side than yours truly. Just for good measure, I had my 12 year-old read the spoiling guidelines and, for her, it did not register that people on the West Coast were not seeing a live broadcast. There may even be some adults who assume the show is being aired live earlier in the day on the WC. I'm not trying to defend anyone because I'd be pretty perturbed if the results were spoiled for me, but maybe a very clear and concise explanation of how the show is aired and a precise definition of "spoiling" would help? Another thing, I've used DCBoards on other sites, so as soon as I come across a forum using that software, I automatically click "Expand Threads" at the top of the board.
