I'm fairly sure that the Adam and Eve discovered in the cave had their hands clasped, and we inferred they were a couple, whereas they didn't bother to have Jacob stage this. It wouldn't have worked well with the final plot where MIB whacked Mommie Dearest and Jacob was totally jealous of their bond.didn't Jacob put CJ and Claude's hands together? I know I saw that FWIW I agree with you OFG totally about this These writers are good with the magic fabric explanation. (yes I realize that it's tongue-in-cheek, but it's also clear that they don't care, as long as they never have to admit that they didn't plan for Adam and Eve to come from long long ago. Why they can't admit that I don't understand; it hurts them more in my eyes that they have to descend to silly banter to keep up the illusion.
