"Is the FIX in??"
I missed the first episode but this is from our on RTVW news. Why would they choose someone who already knows all the dances.

hmmmm, this does seem suspect huh. I was impressed with how graceful she was given the outtakes from her wrestling matches. I wouldn't want to tangle with that chick!

Maybe I missed it, where did it say she knows all the dance. I took Ballet, Tap and Jazz at various times between 3 and 17 and I don't know any ballroom dances. When I've tried it is a very different sort of dance (especially the whole being led thing). Also, just taking lessons doesn't mean you were that good at it. I was never at that high a level, I was passable, but not that great. It may help in being able to learn choreography faster than someone that didn't take dance, and you have the how to move to the music thing, but training in one area of dance doesn't always translate well to another area as sometimes what you train for in one is the exact opposite of what you need to train for another.

In casting these things it seems they do go for a wide range of previous experience (I think in the skating with celebrities some of them have some skating experience). I think casting only people that were very likely to be very bad, or very good wouldn't be as interesting as having a mix. Especially when you can find someone who has experience but you wouldn't expect it.

I can understand where you're coming from Snidge. I guess it's just that we assume that the people they pick from the show will have no dance experience and if you've taken dance lessons before it would seem to give you a leg up.

That said, I took ballroom when I first moved to Atlanta and I loved it. I'm looking forward to maybe taking lessons again once my lovely bride gets to atlanta.

I think it could be fixed in favor of Gisele. How do you have a ballroom dancer for a father and not have done any ballroom dancing? Plus I already don't like her because when she was on The Today Show, they had her with little kids who had just decorated some gingerbread men, and she dissed their decorating right in front of them. Some of them cried. It seems like right after that, she was gone from Today forever.
